No problem. It is a fair comment. Truth is The warning uses some backing track. But pretty minimal. A 2nd guitar when Dany solos, an accent here or there, a vocal once in a while. Many songs have nothing. Watch some more of this concert and you will be more and more impressed...until you get the great opportunity to see them live. I prefer honesty and fairness. Honestly, when all is said and done, this is one of the best bands out there right now.

Song is from the 2nd album, Queen of the Murder Scene. A concept album, released in 2018 when they were 18 16 and 13. The title comes from expression of frustration. They were having a hard time finishing this song, and wanted to give up. Their Dad kept encouraging them to complete it. If the album story interests you , the QOTMS album was played in it's entirrty at Lunario CDMX 2018. Ale is playing a custom Spector 5 string bass, she is a Spector feature artist. For all their gear, check out the gear master episodes (1 for each sister) on 'digital tour bus'. Next, check out more of this 2022 concert, suggest "Disciple".

Thanks for this reaction. ❤ The whole 'Live at the Metropolitan 2022' concert is a treat. There are so many amazing songs: Animosity, Amour, Dull Knives, Dust to Dust, Nacisista, Choke (!), and of course Survive (from WT's first album XXI Century Blood) which was the rabbit hole for many WT fans. Also worth watching (check out the lyrics!) are 'Sinister Smiles' and 'Stalker' from the Lunario 2018 concert. It's mindblowing what WT put together with their 2nd album (Queen of the Murder Scene, which is a concept album) at such a young age. These girls just have it. 🤘🔥

They use backing tracks, but very sparingly, like over solos. I think backing tracks are horrifying if it is a copy of what a person is supposed to be doing live. I do however appreciate them if they make the song complete. We want to hear what we know and if our favorite song has more than 3 parts then it is not possible with 3 people, and the show would suck.

Ale's bass is a Spector USA Custom NS-5XL Ale's Inferno 5 string. According to Spector when delivered in 2020, "one of the most spectacular buckeye tops we've ever done." Ale has been playing a different Spector for the live performances recently, apparently the same model but finished in I believe Hyper Blue rather than Ale's Inferno. Over time Ugh has steadily become a favorite of mine! Great instrumentals by all and then of course Dany's amazing vocals💥🔥🤘 **Update: Spector has confirmed today (3/6/2024) that Ale's blue bass is actually an NS-5 in Hyper Blue. That had been my original speculation but I had never been able to confirm that until now. Shout out to max_dillich for asking Spector about it 🙌🤘

Most of TWA aren't into backing tracks that misrepresent the band on stage. However, The Warning tracks are mostly for ornamentation. If we take those out, the songs won't be affected much. When an extra instrument is an integral part of the song, The Warning will invite a musician for their shows. You will see that later with Revenant from this concert at Teatro Met. As long as integrity of presentation is there, ornamental backing tracks played by the same artist shouldn't be a problem.

@@RealLifeCoupleReact I get the "musician's ear" thing, I do it too, often gets in the way of really enjoying the total experience. As far as Fractal, Kemper, Helix, Tonex- all the modelling technology, we just get to disagree to an extent. I've used Line6 gear for over a decade on stage, and these days a great amount of effort is put into keeping stage volume in control. Often, that wall of Marshalls on the stage is fake, the musicians are using IEM technology. Personally, I use a decent wedge monitor so I can hear myself without disturbing the FOH balance, which makes the venue managers I play for happy.

No band could afford to bring with them additional session players to carry all the parts that are 'tracked' in today's financial world. The taxes just to be allowed to enter and tour the UK would crush them - let alone the costs of accommodation, transport, etc. A laptop and cable come much cheaper, is reliable and doesn't get upset when the beer rider isn't quite enough... Bands using tracks is a way of life today, and will only become more so. Ugh was the working title for the song when they were writing their 2nd Album Queen of the Murder Scene which you will see abbreviated as QOTMS. They went through 20+ (from them) variations of this song and they dreaded working on it hence the name. When the time came to officially name the songs on the album they couldn’t come up with a better name so Ugh stuck because it fit the theme of the concept album. The song is basically about a girl’s unrequited infatuation beginning to turn into an obsession which continues the storyline of the first chapter. The album is 4 chapters of 3 songs each with a prologue song (Dust to Dust). Fun Fact (famous Pauism): the struggles in completing this song led to the creation of 2 other songs on the QOTMS album, The One and The Sacrifice.

Thanks for doing a reaction to Ugh. I just love this one from QOTMS (and actually that whole album). There's nothing about this song I don't like. I think you noticed at the beginning of the outro (when you went 'nice') the nice tempo change, and perhaps the visual of Ale and Dany prancing towards and away from each other like a couple of unicorns.

Fun Fact: That Gibson Explorer was gifted to Dany live on stage by Lzzy Hale. Epic moment. Yeah, you're wandering into Snobbery territory with your backing track rant. Not a good look for a reactor unless you want to start pissing off fan bases. Pau uses Ableton Live to control click tracks, backing tracks, Dany's pedal board and to a certain extent the stage show. The backing tracks are pretty minimal. Sometimes it's a guitar, sometimes a keyboard and sometimes it's sound effects. Pretty understandable to want to fill some sound sometimes as a trio. But yeah, that kind of snobbery isn't going to go over very well.

Also , the complexity of using backing tracks in certain places requires a lot of skill , tons of rehearsal and the ability to play to a click track like a machine . Pau is that machine though . Not sure if this is the case here. There use of backing tracks is minimal. In the last 2 or 3 years the computer died and no one new it. It happened at least 5 or 6 times only die hard fans knew. One of the times was opening for GnR they would not let them do a sound check the commuter would not work and they still killed it. Many say there is a guitar backing track, lately I have seen a few reactors get it right, Dany uses her pedal board to split her guitar into stereo with one side on a delay with a different tone so it sounds like 2 guitars playing
@RealLifeCoupleReact

Yeah, this is kind of of a standard practise for a 3 piece band to give more of a chorus/stereo effect! I used to do the same thing myself with a wet/dry rig. All I was saying is that at the end there is clearly another guitar track playing a completely different thing and thats cool :-) there's no issue with that, I just personally dont prefer it! Orchestral parts are different etc just not the guitar. It's just my opinion, I still love them and think they are epic!

They manage to get a sound which is insanely full. When Dany hits the strings the walls shake. Yet every instrument is easily heard. They incorporated a number of key changes in this song because they kind of built it up from pieces of other songs. It took a bit of work and every time they tried to work on it was like “ugh, no”, so that is actually how the song got its name.

The Warning do use tracks for extra bits, piano, guitar which they have recorded even their band managers spanish vocal piece on Dust to Dust. They are a three piece, they are young, they are from the modern world where this is a thing to more or lesser extent. They are just trying to bring everything to the live show. *Ugh* *Ugh* is the 3rd song on the "Queen of the Murder Scene" (aka QOTMS) album released in 2018 when DPA/TW were an independent band... QOTMS is a concept album that tells a story from the first song to the last... hearing the album out of order makes it hard to follow the story... like reading a book's chapters out of order... two other original songs, *The One* and *The Sacrifice* , were spawned from *Ugh* ... *Ugh* was the working title because it was a hard one, they really had to work on it, and they actually wanted to shelve it... thankfully their father kept after them to complete it... they were like "ugh! do we have to?" and *Ugh* stuck as the official name, too... the result is great! this is one of their songs that you might want to think twice about playing when you are driving 😹 Fun Fact: one of their songs has/had the working title of "Gracias"... "Gracias" is short for "Gracias, K-Pop" which is a salute from them to the K-Pop genre which has some influences on their sound and style... when they are playing, sometimes Ale will ask which song is up next and she'll get the answer "Gracias" which she knows that song by instead of its official song title... I think they are entitled to use all the tracks they want, so long as THEY played and recorded them for their own use. Three musicians can only do so much live. I support their choices of when to call in other musicians and when to use tracks. They're honest about it. In the song, *Narcissista,* from this concert, Beto Ramos, Pau's drum instructor, plays drums so she can come down front and take the lead vocal on a fiery song she wrote in a fit of rage at the band's detractors. In another song at this same concert, *Revenant,* they bring in a Bajo Quinto player (it's a ten string Mexican bass), Pliego Villarreal, from the band, Kinky, to play another part. Pau leaves her drum kit again to sing lead on that. The fact that they play some studio tracks from the computer because they can't physically play two instruments at once is a non-issue for me. They wrote the lyrics, composed the music, recorded the tracks, and play live along with them. It's quite simply ALL theirs. At least they actually play live. The Beatles gave up on doing that in 1965, because they were too dependent on the studio's analog tape decks for their sound, and technology for playing tracks live wasn't practical enough. Thankfully, Pau has a Mac with Ableton Live.

Watch Dany's pedal Board rundown videos, and you can see how she makes her wall of sound live. You only "Think" your hearing 2 guitars, and instantly thinking it's a backing track is normal, but not so. It's about splitting and time change to the amps. When you go see them live, you will see & feel the difference.

Few bands do this especially 3 pieces and Tool have done this on the salival recording live. There's slight delay between the 3 different amps which gives it more of a chorus/stereo sound. Sounds mega! Loving it and it's used to good effect
@gmantw
@gmantw 6 ай бұрын
@@RealLifeCoupleReactNot just a time delay, but a slight octave difference too. It is fancy gizmos being used, but it is her playing and not a recording all Ronnie Radke style. Pau's laptop with the simple tracks they use are clicks, and small effects, with some piano work, but it's all them, not some computer generated studio wizardry. They make their studio sound as close to the live sound as possible. For this reason, I call them a "Studio Quality Live Band". That is one of the things that has drawn me in so deep with them. They are the real deal, and hearing/seeing three young ladies melt my face off, with nothing more than an instrument and an amplifier, well.....I'm Sold! 🤘

Amigos = Friends. Masculine and usually referring to dudes who are friends. Amigas = lady friends. You're thinking "Las tres hermanas". Same applies with masculine and feminine. Hermanos (brothers). Hermanas (sisters). the H is silent. Also, they definitely use backing tracks to add either an additional guitar or piano/keys. I am mostly in the camp that if you can't play it live because you don't have the additional musician(s) to play the instrument then you should probably leave that bit out. I do enjoy their music so I tend to be more flexible on that stance since its generally good vibes. I get both sides though.

It's interesting you didn't mention use of a backing track on your Nightwish reaction ;-) Actually, I kind of feel the same way about using tracks, but it's probably the best option for The Warning to be able to put on the quality of live show they do (versus having a slightly less full sound or diluting the sister dynamic with extra musicians). I do miss the fluidity that comes from not playing to a click (I know they are totally capable of it) - but The Warning just isn't that kind of band, and that's fine. I'm sad I missed them when they played in my town last year - won't make that mistake again.

I think because it was a guitar part it just threw me, I can understand orchestral bits as tracks etc but each to their own it just wouldn't be a preference of mine, I'm the same when it comes to drummers playing with clicks, I personally prefer the more natural element of without a click. That's hard for some bands as there is video cues/lighting etc also more complex need to be that tight it would only work with a click. It's all good, I never once said anything bad about them but I agree I think it's their best option and they sound absolute awesome! We can't wait to see them live

Dude, they use a click track. If you look at Pau’s kit you’ll see a laptop. Most bands use it. ZZTop used it on all live shows. Even before computers I’ve seen them use reel to reel for. Lick tracks. Back in the 70’s. It’s part of the kit in concerts. That’s why they sound so good. It’s like an instrument. The band plays the track and implements it like a looper. I used to setup the back house for concerts in the 70’s. Sorry if I let the cat out of the bag.

No cats out of bags at all 😊 it's just something I personally wouldn't do. I never once said anything bad about it. I know bands play to clicks and that's cool, I just prefer the more natural element to playing when it comes to slight differences in time/groove (as ive played in many bands myself). It's in no way putting them down, it's just a personal preference of mine. I'd love this band with or without clicks or backing tracks. They are awesome and as long as they use them to their advantage and still play (which they do), then it's all good. There's millions of bands who use clicks and backing tracks and there's millions of bands who don't, it's all awesome regardless 🤟

Maybe you have an issue with backing tracks, but if the band is out of time, the backing track doesn't care, it rolls on. So, the band has to be in the pocket and on time with each other and backing tracks or it will really sound bad. These girls never do, so using backing tracks, stems, and clicks is more difficult than just playing straight up. So, consider that. The girls don't lip synch either.

They do use backing tracks to add extra sounds but they are all created by them with one exception, the live version of Enter Sandman that Metallica had them do for the the Blacklist Album uses backround vocals of Alessia Cara on the track. She is on the Blacklist Album with them for the song and they always tell people she is part of the song. The Gibson Explorer was a gift from Lizzie Hale of Halestorm when they torured with them, Ale has been a featured artist for Spectre since she was 13 years old (she is 17 in this concert) and plays a five stirng base made especially for her by the company. They each have videos out with gearmasters where they give a complete rundown of the gear they use if you are interested in learning about it. They also use piano tracks on some live songs as all three play piano.

Even without the keyboard shortcuts, there is no need to move the mouse to the play/pause button to pause/resume the video, you can click anywhere in the video. Regarding them using backing tracks for some rhythm guitar, I have no issue with it, considering that they do not have the means of hiring a session player and that all the instrumentation on the backing tracks are played by them anyway. I have no issue with them, as long as the band can still play live without them and it has happened in the past that Pau's laptop has crashed and they were able to play the show fine, just without a few background guitar, piano/keyboards and sound effects.
