I was there in Coney Island in the 70's, something we often did, in actuality, before the movie was released in '79. In Coney, at that time, was a submarine ride. It was an actual submersible and could carry many people. I took it with all the artificial sharks and marine life at the bottom viewable through the peep hole. Then the ship had a problem. The door started to leak. We actually started to take on water. The door was not sealed. One of the crewman got it sealed with a bunch of effort and the rest is history. No one panicked.

I am surprised that the WONDER WHEEL was never replicated. That is the only ferris wheel I know that has some cabins that ride on a track.

@Lefty003 Actually, I recall the sub in Coney Island I was on (from the above story) was big and round. I was a smaller guy, but that’s how I remembered it. There’s a submarine museum in Connecticut near the Coast Guard Academy.

Hreat Work, guys! I had a Security Guard company back then in So Cal. We had a lot of Hard Work and FUN policing the Drive Ins when this was showing! You can Imagine. Car loads showing up, some in costume having a Good Time. Others lookin to Rumble! Gettin High Jeez

I remember that! I got fu....ked up on the boardwalk in my teens. Got lost on the beach at like 3 or 4 crying for mom on the boardwalk from the sand. A lady asked me, "where's your Mommy?" Mom found me in the police station sitting on the Sergeant desk with his hat on my head. A few years later Andre the Giant shook my little hand while standing with my mother on the boardwalk One Summer. I seen a few fires, a few wars. I used to hang out off, Neptune avenue. In fact my mother got bit on her foot by a shark in that water. And my uncle threw me off the pier into the water to learn how to swim for the first time! I used to crab off the pier and fish. Dead body used to wash up all the time sometimes chopped up bodies and suitcases all sorts of crazy shit! My people's the "Dirty Ones" East New York. It's in my book Finding Norma Jeane. Coming out this year. Yup ! the 70s was a scary time in Brooklyn and the Bronx. The whole tri-state area you were jumped in....you were in a gang if you want to be in one or not in most neighborhoods. I love Brooklyn... It's real , The original COOL !
