In honour of the 40th anniversary of the release of The Warriors, here's an update of all your favourite actors and actresses from the movie.
**Note: Correction on Rembrandt actor Marcelino Sanchez's entry - he was 20 years old when filming the Warriors and 28 when he died, of AIDS-related cancer. W.
**Note: Correction on Baseball Furies actor Jery Hewitt - his ribs weren't broken during a fight scene. It was orange-faced Furies member Leon Delany's ribs that were broken during a fight scene.
**Update: Baseball Fury Jery Hewitt died of a stroke in November 2020 at age 71.

Screw what critics think, they are all prone to peer pressure anyway. The Warriors is, and will always be a great film.

I don't remember who it was, but it was a filmmaker in the 80s or 90s who said something like "I didn't make it for them, I made it for people who actually like movies" when asked about the negative critic reviews for one of his films that was doing well in the box office.

@Brett Hazelton If you are basing a film off a real event holes are often bigger and more pronounced. You have historians and experts picking holes in any film based on truth or reality. I watch the Warriors and see it for what it is escapism. Holes are to me irrelevant if the work is fiction

Ayo fuck the critics I'm with you. Everyone I've ever showed this film has liked it or LOVED it. The writing, the action, the pace of the film itself, almost sheer perfection in my humble opinion. And the only reason I don't call it perfect is because every film ever made has its pitfalls. And don't even get me started on the GAME. Good lord they took care of this franchise and I love it. We must protect it at all costs. I seriously fear them making some half assed remake that would end up being it's legacy.

That's a great story! You must've been so proud to see him in such a classic film! He handled his part really well! I loved the scene where he was the only one in the Lizzie's apt. that something was wrong. Then his famous line;"SHIT! THE CHICKS ARE PACKED! THE CHICKS ARE PACKED!".

I was suddenly brought in as a “photo double” for Thomas G. Waites (who’d been fired) for a few shots in the subway car, all you see is my back. James Remar didn’t hide his disdain for me. Marcelino and David Harris sensed my unease and did what they could to make me feel welcome. I always appreciated that. RIP Marcelino.

@@ilovememes3919 I saw it with my dad a couple of days ago. He said to me that when he watched it on cinema back in the days when he was 15 he liked the movie so much that he actually went to see it a second time the same week. I thought I was in for a treat when we started the movie but man was I wrong. I felt the movie never really started. I felt there was no big build up for the actual quest of the film. I think the movie have to be loved by íts nostalgic value, kind of like the original Star Wars triology which has goten a kind of god-like status as to where its okey for critics to review them with nostalgic biased. I really feel the movie was great back in the days, but for younger people (im 20 yrs old) it dosent hold up anymore. My dad was in shock as he really felt as I do after we had watched it, and he could not see what had made him so engaged 40 years ago. Although I think the movie has a cool aura I dont think it reached its full potential. The best thing about the movie imo is the movie poster, it looks really cool but sadly the actual movie dosent hold up anymore.

This movie is so iconic, from the actors to the music, the plot and sets, the cinematography and stunts, everything is the epitome of the era, and yet the film itself is still somehow more than the sum of its parts. I'm sure it is just the nostalgia talking, but there is something undeniably irresistible about this raggedy bunch of misfits battling their way across the concrete jungle against insurmountable odds and winning, all in a single night

Hey Boppers, My name is Moïse Morancy. I’m the writer, director and producer on this proof of concept. I also star as Cleon in this. If you’re like me, someone who appreciates and loves “The Warriors,” you know in 2005, Rockstar created a video game based on the cult classic and gave a backstory to how the gang was formed. Myself and others believe this needs to be remade as a prequel. No one can hold a candle to the originators but I wanted to pay homage and give them their flowers. Because they weren’t good…they were “the best.” I hope you enjoy! 🙏🏿

It should be made into a prequel. I think many fans would love to see one. Too bad Netflix, Amazon and the ilk have got their heads stuck on "Superheroes." They won't invest in any other genre. They say Batgirl bombed before the masses got to see it. It's been yanked. My opinion is these so-called experts don't know what they're talking about. The critics hated The Warriors, its now a cult classic. I dug it from day one. The new Warriors would have to have lots of nudity(sex), fighting, cursing, explosions, hotties( both men and women) and lots of tattoos, not a single one in the first. Can you dig it?

True story, I was working at a theater in the Denver (Thornton) area when this movie came out. We had a special midnight showing, the only one in the whole Denver metro area. At the time, no one knew much about the movie other than the previews shown leading up to it. Naturally, on a Friday night, who wants to hang out until 2am for a movie, we had better things to do, but worked we had to. We all figured maybe 20 or 30 people would show up, a crowd hardly worth staying around for. At about 11:00pm, I looked out into the area where people were waiting (the theater was in a shopping mall) and saw about what I expected, 20 or so people. We all went about getting ready to open at 11:30, another worker and I checked the exit doors inside the theater itself to make sure it was closed. We opened the door and there was now a line of people going out of the mall and around the building past the exit doors, and let me tell you, every wannabe gang banger, sidewalk commando, tough guy were waiting to get into the theater. Holy cow, it was nerve wracking to say the least knowing that there could be equal amount of violence in the theater than what was going to be on the screen. The local police department was not notified of the movie time, so they never came around, doubt they even knew the movie was playing. But, despite the film breaking about half way through (it got fixed quicker than I ever seen a film get spliced before) and some guys throwing bottles around now and then, it came off without much trouble at all, thankfully. It ended up being one of the better nights working at the movies. And it was a good movie to watch as well.

I love this movie and the game in 2005. I grew up with this stuff and cherish it as something apart of me. Also, rest in peace to Rembrandt. He was my favorite warrior member from both movie and game. Shame we lost him to cancer...

I loved this film and soundtrack. I was 12 when this came out and in the Summer holidays we used to buy a thing called the "Red bus rover" I seem to remember it cost 50p. It used to give you free travel on buses and the tube in London for the day. The Tube was our playground and we used to chant "Warriors come out to play-ay" as we were walking down the connecting passageways on the underground and it used to echo beautifly. Great memories..."Can you dig it"

Marcelino Sanchez, Rembrandt, was my cousin Tim's lover. They were as in love as any two people could be. He would come to family gatherings. One time, my family went to the house of my aunt's friend, a middle aged woman who was taking singing lessons. She had a recital in her living room and all her family and friends were there. Her singing was horrible. Something better suited for a Bugs Bunny cartoon. Marcelino, Tim, my friend Matt, and I were all stoned on pot and couldn't stop laughing. At one point Marcelino was hiding behind the curtains, laughing his brains out. That was so long ago. Marcelino and my cousin Tim both died of aids. Update: I just showed my aunt this comment, and she reminded me that she, too, was laughing her brains out at her friend's singing! Marcelino was a really good guy.

Marcelino Sanchez was gay and diagnosed hiv+ in an age where people with hiv/aids were basically shunned and left to die by the medical community. It was a sad end for someone that seemed so full of life.

Some of them didn't die of cancer. One of them died of Aids from drowning in vjj, Well it's was cancer. but the other one that could of been avoided if they would of found out about sooner..just like freddy mercury faith.

@@hotpopcorncake Marcellino didn't die of aids, he died of cancer. He had aids which compromised his immune system which led to him getting cancer. So in a way the aids did cause it but it was cancer complications that killed him. Also, pretty sure it wasn't because he was drowning in the VEEJ, rather the butt or needles.

Quick story: About 6 years ago, I was on the subway 4 train line: afternoon travel in my home town (NYC). I was sitting by myself in the two-person corner seat in the train car. Across from me was an older man that looked so familiar to me, but I couldn't wrap my mind around who it was! So, I inconspicuously stared at him without trying to be weird. After about 3 minutes, I think I got it! I went on my phone and typed in IMDB. I was able to match the face with the person that was sitting across from me! It DAVID PATRICK KELLY: Luther the antagonist leader from the Rouges gang in The Warriors! Now, New Yorkers are usually known for NEVER getting starstruck. We see celebrities all the time. However, there are rare times when we do! and this was it for me! He was sitting with a very pretty young lady, perhaps his daughter who looked about 30-35 years of age. kind of resembled him. So, i was kinda nervous but I just wanted to say the famous line: "Warriors, come out and play-ya!" But I didn't say anything ..Anyway, I didn't want to bother him . But I did a side stare at him picturing my favorite scenes with him. However, I left him alone and went back to my private life again. but i was really happy to see someone from one of my favorite movie. Hopefully I'll see and meet another great character from THE WARRIORS. who knows. Anyway, I'll never forget that wonderful quiet experience.
