Scream Queens originally was going to be an anthology show with each season being a different story with the same tone but then after season 1 they decided to continue to continue with the same characters and decided that it was gunna change settings each season but then it got canceled after season 2 apparently the original idea for season 2 was an 80s Summer Camp bc Fox trademarked Scream Queens: Summer Camp which I guess Ryan Murphy recycled that idea Foe American Horror Story:1984

Wouldn’t have Ryan Murphy taken a lot of heat though for basically copying his AHS idea? I feel like the main reason he decided to keep the characters was because if he had done a different theme with the same cast, but a whole entire different storyline, people were going to just call it another AHS and bash it endlessly, never living up to the hype of AHS. Lets be real: the viewership issue probably comes down to Fox mostly pandering to adult men with immature humor (Family guy, American dad, etc). When their main userbase is not the target audience for a female lead, diverse satire, of *course* they weren't going to get as many people watching as they wanted. It's my theory that Scream Queens would have been more successful if it had been greenlit by a different studio. I think that would be a cool way to keep it interesting and fresh

WOW. You read my mind! And I’m so glad there are other people out there still thinking about this show. I’ve never rewatched a series as much as the first season - heck, I’m probably beyond 20 (or 30?!) times now. There were definitely some questionably insensitive jokes and lines, but mostly I found the humor so great. Munsch and Chanel were scripted and casted perfectly. I still find myself quoting “Ms. Bean, I said let’s hit it!!!” and “I’m over it!!!” Plus, I really loved the music choices. But the second season is a different story. It was a chore to originally get through it and only got slightly easier on the second watch. I kind of wished they stopped while they were ahead - because the second season tarnishes the canon and overall quality, in my opinion.

Then they should have had them get out and back to KKT and have a new president and Chanel wanting her power back with the other chanels. They could have had the red devil or another killer or a copycat. They could have revolved the season around another secret of KKT because the sorority is so old it would have been believable. The first season isn't really a nod to Heathers. The show is heavy on the 90s nostalgia, and it draws more from a similar 1999 film called Jawbreaker - that has the bright, goofy tone Scream Queens was going for, and the idea of the popular girls being awful people who accidentally kill their friend and give the weird girl a makeover to become one of them (including changing her name). Jawbreaker was inspired by Heathers though

this show absolutely slaps. I thought S2's premise was dumb at first (now that ive watched greys anatomy tho I appreciate it more) but it got better as the season went on. I'm honestly happy they kept the same characters--they were created well and the interpersonal dynamics made the show for me. I think they ruined it by trying to stick with anthology idea tho. It was a big leap from college to hospital interns. Playing it slower, making each season slowly transition to a new setting, would have been less cringy. Say, season 2 was them in jail, season 3 a dormitory back at college, season 4 was summer camp, 5 was a workplace where the main cast was interning, season 6 was a mental hospital, season 7 they were all "living their normal lives" but were being targetted again so they reconnected, then season 8 was a hospital, maybe season 9 one of them was a teacher and it was at an elementary school. Idk. a hospital is really the highest stakes you can go. You can't really top it from there. I do applaud them on the writing because the back story to why they were at the hospital was well done but just such a reach. Another issue was them killing off so many good characters from S1 that S2 felt empty. I missed Nick

The premise of Scream Queens was brilliant, the execution not so much. Ryan wrote characters so good (The Chanels) that he couldn’t get rid of and shot himself in the foot while doing so.

Jamie Lee Curtis's character in Halloween fought pretty well I wouldn't call her a damsel in distress, that's not fair ತ_ʖತ

My idea for the finale was that, there was no killer, or the killer themselves dies somewhat throughout the season and what really happens is that after everyone caughts up that there was a serial killer in the loose they all individually use the opportunity to kill someone they hate and blame it on the killer, by the end of the show they all noticed that they were all the killer at some point and they just laugh it off as a misunderstanding I guess. And that plot idea would tie together perfectly with the mindset of people being mean and down to cruel to strangers online, even the most introverted people turn into monsters online because we don’t have to face any real consequences for any of what we say here and there is a level of anonymity, just like with the killers identity, the cast would that advantage of the fact that a mysterious masked killer was on the loose to act out on their most perverse ideas and just blame it on the secret killer.

Oh my God I just watched the finale of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin 😿😿😿😿😿 by Ryan Murphy's protege, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, (he was a co-executive producer on Glee for years and if I took over as showrunner last two seasons when Ryan Murphy left, wonton of course to make Riverdale 🙄 and the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, 😒 and Katy Keene with Lucy Hale 😣 and now he's willing to Pretty Little Liars to the Riverdale universe, so far as I know he never worked on Scream Queens but he is trying Murphy's protoje and obviously Ryan influences him because Original Sin takes a lot from Scream Queens, that and 13 Reasons Why Hannah of course Riverdale and to some extent the original PLL, 😔☹️😕🥺😬

if one of the chanels, grace, denisse, or chad were the killer(s) it would have been so much better. Hester,Gigi and Boone Were way to predictable. I still love the show tho.
@xoxo38962 жыл бұрын
The first few episodes should have been in the mental hospital the Chanels were sent to in the finale of s1! That had so much potential and was aesthetically pleasing. Then they should have had them get out and back to KKT and have a new president and Chanel wanting her power back with the other chanels. They could have had the red devil or another killer or a copycat. They could have revolved the season around another secret of KKT because the sorority is so old it would have been believable. Them in Kappa had so much story to tell and potential. We need the Chanels back in KKT! No changing characters and setting. And denise hemphfield and jamie lee curtis back as well

I loved this show, season one was fantastic, loved it. Came out during the best year for the fans but it was ahesd of its time. The aesthetic was fantastic, the ear muffs Chanel #3 wore were iconic. Just overall a fantatic shiw. Season 2 was sorta ehh

The downfall definitely began when season one had zero pay off. All of the theories and fan speculation kept the show relevant during the final episodes. Chanel and Grace being twins was the perfect answer to end the story but making the main killer Hester took away all surprise. It was obvious they wanted to make her stand out as the weirdo during the entire season so her being the killer wasn’t a shock rather, just a let down. Like you said most viewers didn’t really care because the show was never really serious to begin with but for the real fans it just put us off to the show.

I loved this series up until the final 2 episodes of season one. The whole time I was like. The killer can't be that person.... It's too obvious. They're trying to fool everyone.... Then the killer was the person you thought. I think what happened is that people responded well to the season one characters so they had to change course to keep them alive and then also change course on season 2. Had they kept the AHS format of same actors, different characters, I think the show would have succeeded.

People always look at me crazy when I say I enjoy SQ more than AHS, but it’s just, I’ve always loved slashers they are my favorite genre of horror. And I felt like the comedy in the first season kept the show entertaining and I loved the mystery aspect. Truly Scream Queens deserved better. ❤️🖤🤍!

if he made each season different with the same actors like ahs and have 1 of them be the killer every time that would be super fun
@gabrielsouza84803 жыл бұрын
A cool theme they could have gone with to keep their cast would be reincarnation. Immagine if every season we got new characters, but they were basically the same characters with different names and in different time periods. Every time, a different character would be the killer, for some reason explained by the story, and the stakes would be not if we would get to see them again, but if they would get to live their lives at peace with their partners and friends. I think that would be awesome. The show could keep the same cast like Ryan wanted, keep the same dynamic between them, and it could explore new themes and places and time periods every season

I loooved season 1 up until the end with the reveal of the whodunit. It was so obvious and I spotted it a mile away and thought there'd be a subversion of my expectation so when there wasn't I was like... ok, that's kinda anticlimactic. But the potential of the show before that finale was just incredible.

I feel the same way (SPOILERS AHEAD) In regards to Pete he kind of had school shooter incel vibes from the beginning so I wasn’t very surprised to find out he was one of the killers. He was supposed to be a nice guy but came across as more of a “nice guy”

This show had so much to give to say Potential is an understatement. I thought this was cancelled because of Budgeting this cast is expensive so many well know people.
@samwilliams99193 жыл бұрын
I honestly think this show was meant to be an anthology with a new set of characters every season, especially seeing as Ryan originally said a character would die per episode. I think at some point he changed his mind and wanted to keep the characters which lead to its downfall..

The second season was not bad it was just okay. The story and the deaths were so rushed. The writing team was so mediocre they did a terrible job with the story, but the ending was okay.The only thing that made the show watchable was the actors who did great with what they were given. They should’ve made the second season about Grace and her dad snapping and murdering the Chanel’s as the Red Devil. Which would have made sense seeing as how what the Chanel’s did to grace was the entire reason for her dad being in the second season.

@davidkonevky73723 жыл бұрын
To summarize: season 2 basically ruined the whole shtick of the first season which was "who would survive?" and "which people would die?" by making the same characters return. Because now, you basically already know the answer to most of these questions and you know that they aren't going to kill off a main important character as they have to return to the next season. Making the "slasher" part of the show pretty lackluster and ruining the concept of the show in the first place.

Season 1 was fun and I loved it. I liked (some of) the characters, especially Emma’s Chanel. I think that with her character becoming somewhat iconic to the show, it may have been a deciding factor as to why they didn’t put an end to the KKT storyline and created a new set of characters.
