I know many will be happy about the size, but Cadisen really missed the mark with both the movement and the chronograph pushers. I wouldn't expect them to perfectly copy the pushers of the Bulova, but they could have used rectangular pushers instead of the round ones they chose.

I would have been so happy with the curved rectangular pushers. Fingers crossed for a v2 😂

Interesting dials layout. Chronograph for people, who like additional dials, but they know they'll use it so rarely... Main second hand makes sense then. Dial finishing is beautiful btw.

The chronograph seconds indicator is the dial located at 6 o'clock. Really a shame, as the watch is beautiful and well finished. I bought 2 PD 1701 (classic and Alaska with black bezel), in April 2024, both below USD 55,00. The chronograph works correctly in PDs. I think it was a better purchase.

You are totally correct. Seeing how good this looks on an intsy-bitsy-teensy-weensy wrist like mine just makes me want a slightly smaller Bulova Lunar Pilot... Thanks to your wife for modelling in your videos. One of the few places I can check out how watches might look on me.

Dimensions and brushing are a huge step forward from the Bulova. Personally I am not a butterfly clasp fan so I would also like to see that switched to a fold over clasp. Great price for the offering from Cadisen but still I live in hope that Bulova might eventually get there … ?!

Actually the running second hand is perfectly fine for me. I've never used the tachometer funtion of a chronograph in any serious way anyway so won't miss that functionality at all, while I can enjoy a ticking second had :)

No, I don't have a problem with the central sec hand. To me this is actually preferred as I hardly used the stop watch and never the tachymeter. What I don't like is when the second hand misses the markers. I know this is a common issue with affordable quartz watches and it looks like your Caddy has it too😀
@timeandnourishment19619 ай бұрын
Oh, my OSD! The seconds hand completely missing the minute markers 😢. Should have gone with a meca-quartz movement, which is possible even at this price. Good bracelet, though. Great review. Cheers 🍻!

Butterfly clasp is always the least preferred option for me. For the price, Cadisen produce some amazing value for money. I have the Diamond dress watch with PT5000 and the Breitling Deus Homage with ST1901 swanneck movement, both excellent watches for the price but both originated with butterfly clasp now changed. I have another Cadisen somewhere that I have lent to someone in the past but cannot remember the model it was/is. Last watch I lent out and lesson learned.

Another great review. I like the piston pushers for the chrono function more than what Bulova did. The price is also amazing. That said, I don't need another chrono with a useless 24 hour subdial, let alone a running seconds hand at the 6'oclock on a Tachymeter watch.
@owenlaprath41355 ай бұрын
24 subdial useless? GGGRRRR. Frankly, NASA was st00pid to allow the Speedmaster to pass without 24hr dial, because in space there is no sun-lit day, and you totally depend on clocks on watches! Also, on Earth, in Northern winters, you quickly appreciate 24hr dials, with never a guess about this stupid "am" or "pm" stuff. Taking a nap, there is no question about the real time of day, when my watch tells me "7" or "19", but with a 12 hr dial, it can really make your day! And NO, it is not "military" time, it is International time format standard!

Those, who interested: the movement can be replaced with the VK63A with new hands, and the butterfly clasp can also be replaced with a traditional one, although the fact is that this way the project will cost much more...

By the time you get the movement, new hands, new clasp, tools to do it, or pay a watchmaker ... cheaper to just buy a Pagani PD-1782! Have you looked at them? I have zero clue, why literally NO KZbin reviewers mention that one as a Lunar Pilot homage, when it so obviously is, AND it has rectangular pushers much closer to the Bulova. So, if you want a Loonie homage, get the Pagani PD 1782. If you just want a nice watch, look at the Cadison. If you want a chronograph, ask yourself "how often do I really use a chronograph without 1/10th sec functionality, and will a digital Casio not be better as a chronograph?"
@FFHB6 ай бұрын
I'll wait until a black dial with brushed case and with a proper VK63 werk...🤔 Or I just buy this in any colour for this super low price 😆
@owenlaprath41355 ай бұрын
Note: Pagani has the better homage with the PD 1782, even though nobody seems to mention it as a Bulova Loonie! Next: The tachometer scale on a space watch is indeed very much needed and useful ... OY, it be dark out here! I missed the Km marker! Where are they anyway? No Km markers on the way to Moon??? No lane markers either??? WTF??? In case of splashdown, I want at least a decent water resistance though, say 100 meters, no biggy for a modern watch, because I do not want a watch to do a Carpenter's Navitimer on me! I also do NOT want to leave any watch at any pool- or jacuzzi-side, so any schlemiel can just grab it, so swim-proof is a minimum, just in case! My 70 Dollar automatic Invicta Subbies and both Tandorio autos (36mm W10 and 39mm Pilot) are all 200 meter resistant. YES, there have been failures during tests, but that was a few years ago, and Tandorio appears to have corrected those problems :) My next project is a GMT homage with NH34, since the GMTs were inofficially worn in space and used as personal backups by many astronauts from the Apollo days to the Iinternational Space Station! AND, talking GMT, here is a copy of my reply to another comment, because there is a REASON, why so many astronauts wore a Rolex GMT with its 24hr dial: NASA was st00pid to allow the Speedmaster to pass without 24hr dial, because in space there is no sun-lit day, and you totally depend on clocks and on watches! Don't even get me started on silly hotel alarm clocks with just a tiny dot for the "am" setting, where I missed it and overslept important appointments!

I won't sell my original Bulova Lunar Pilot watches (45 mm black and 43 mm snoopy). Cadisen please put a Seiko SII VK63 movement in the watch . This is a major mistake. The TMI VD53 is not the correct movement for a watch with a tachymeter. Also please make a black dial version with regular stainless steel. Most people don't like black coating. The reverse blue panda would look much better with off-white or beige sub-dials. The shiny metallic sub-dials are a thing of the past; it hasn't looked good for years. I will wait for V2 or V3.

19mm bracelet size on a 42mm case size? Who had this stupid idea? Everybody hates 19mm band width. It should be 20mm or even better. And another mistake, an iner bezel without functionality because the movement you choose with the chronometer working on subdial it’s ridiculous. To finish but the least one mistake, the butterfly clasp. Why so many mistakes in a watch that could be one great watch. Sorry but this one won’t be on my collection.

Great review (as ever!) of a really nice watch. Frankly, I treat features such as bezels and tachymeters largely as decoration - they look good, but do I ever use them? Nope! If I want to time something accurately (if only rarely) I'd use my phone, as it's easier to read. Anyway, it's a good looking and well finished piece and the movement gives me confidence about timekeeping accuracy and reliability. But as you say, detractions and niggles apart, its price seems to be incredible and offers fantastic value. I like Cadisen watches (I think I have 3 now) so I'll no doubt follow your link to Ali and stick one in my basket! I’ve tried on the newer 43 mm Bulova LP so many times. I want to love it, but I just can’t get past the tall, enormous dinner plate on my 7.25 inch wrist. I should be able to pull it off, but I can’t. These dimensions are so much more wearable. Is the movement great? No, but the dimensions are!

Literally Just got the older sized Limited Edition Lunar Pilot last week sits big but ok on my 7.5 inch wrist .. for me worth it for the heritage and movement (unless I get a Speedy which seems unlikely).
