As soon as I see the original Casio faceplate I'm transported back to that exciting time in the 1980's when you went straight to the watches section in a newly published issue of an Argos catalogue. Lovely, simpler times.

I think the silver on black rubber at 7:26 looks great. I'd wear that with pride. Although... there's a bit too much negative space above & below the bezel. Even simple grey horizontal lines as decoration would make it better.

I own four Casios but only one digital: the indestructible F91W. There is some kind of charm in these Casio digitals, especially the vintage ones. Timeless design.

I’ve looked at modding these or the AE1200….and honestly losing the Casio brand name on the faceplate makes it a no-go for me. I understand why SKXMODS can’t put a Casio logo on their parts, but I think it’s a good looking logo and a great brand…it’s too bad it has to go

Being a child of a certain time, digital Casio watches bring back a lot of great memories! These are even cooler than I expected them to be when I saw the thumbnail, as well. The price is a bit steep, but I expect those who want one enough won't care. I'd have the black one with the negative display, with both the FKM and a matching bracelet, if I could. It's mad stealthy in an A-Team kind of way and totally over the top. I love it! Great video, as always. Keep them coming!

The silver one looks very smart on the rubber strap, but the idea of a bronze digital watch with patina is such an intriguing idea. A great contrast between a digital time piece & a very analog expression of time as the case oxidises. Decisions, decisions!

Without a shadow of a doubt, the A168 is my favorite watch ever made. My first one lasted for a solid 15 years, way before i got interested in watches. It was with me through middle school, high school, and countless job sites. I did have to replace it, though. But seeing how it was my only watch, it was understandable. When I really got into watches a few years ago, the first watch i had to get was a new A168. I have tried, bought, and love so many different Casios, but it's the A168 i wear the most.

My $30 USD Casio mrw-210h is my work watch. It truly is a beater now going 5 years. Plastic to metal collisions while working on cars and being outdoors in the elements. I've changed the battery 2 and strap once. It's the watch that makes the money to purchase the mechanical watches. The 50 mm case diameter wouldn't make it a future mod watch, but i wouldn't change a thing. It looks better with imperfections. I haven't seen a modified Casio in person yet. I see more people wearing smart watches.

I have good memories wearing my A168 while touring the alps on my motorcycle. I've owned a lot of watches since but that one has stayed in the collection up until 3-4 years ago as my toolwatch. I would love a high-end version of it. They are still very cool.

My Dad and I bought and wore a lot of digital Casio and Seiko watches throughout the 80's. I still love them!! In fact, my daily watch ia a G Shock 5610U. Modding Casios is so much fun. I mean when is the last time you ever heard the word fun used in relation to say someething like a Patek Phillipe or A. Lange and Sohnne? ;D

Cheaper alternatives to the A168 donor watch are the F-105 & W-86 as they all use the same 1275 module. Great video 👍

I have the gold version of this watch. I only buy a watch if it is associated with a special memory. However, with this watch, I bought it simply because I liked it. Then, I met my wife, and I remember she was wearing the silver version on our first date. I wear the gold one. Talk about soulmates, haha. Some watches just find their own memories, I guess. ❤ Definitely one of my top 3 favorite watches.

Great video! Always liked the look of the vintage digital watches, brings me back to my childhood. The only thing that was keeping me from pulling the trigger on the regular A168 was lack of stainless steel case, sapphire glass and poor water resistance - well, until now... 3rd one in your video (gun metal looking) would be my daily beater, I'd wear it on a rubber strap. A very interesting mod. I love my 168 a tad too much though to pull it apart and mod it unless of course it gets badly damaged that would require surgery. I have to say that the modified watches do look great though. Many thanks for sharing.

I can tell you from experience that buying maybe a strap or a bezel or part for a watch when you're stuck and skint, is a lot cheaper than a new watch, especially to mod a cheap one you already own.....

I've modded an F-91W to be all stealth black and it's still one of my absolute favorites. Though I feel like what really makes that for me is how cheap that watch was to begin with. You really gotte be committed to the look to spend that amount on your casio. Or just really don't want a scratched up resin case lol

I really like this. I'd like to see this sort of thing done more often to watches of this price range. For example, i would like someone to do the same thing for timex Expeditions. I love my timex mk1 steel and an expedition with a Stainless case would be just as awesome. Timex keeps making really expensive mechanical expedition models, but its the indiglo feature of the quartz models that make it stand out amongst field watches. Also, I run across old expeditions at thrift stores and on ebay all the time. A Stainless case upgrade to an easily bought watch makes a lot of sense to me.

I have a G-Shock and wear it everyday to work. I also own several Casio watches including an Oceanus ocw-600 titanium and a lineage titanium. I really like Casio as a brand. The Oceanus btw has had the most casual wear wrist time of any of my watches. Have always wanted to get one of these baby Casios and modded with sapphire is the way to go. I particularly like the grey and the bronze versions.

My first modded watch was my AE-1200, after watching your videos nonetheless. Unfortunately it is semi retired as I've had horrible luck with the accuracy, both modules I've tried being almost 1 min off within a week, well out of specs. I am considering this kit now and would love to have a little ultra durable casio beater for those times when the itch for a digital watch comes. For now I have to bear with it and stick to my normal analogues however.

Interesting kits but the colorful faceplate is the main reason i really like my A168 (which came with a mesh type strap rather than the old hair nipper). If the bracelet will fit my A1000 i might have to get one of those. My fave of the builds on their website is the #11 black and red one.

I have a Casio DW-6600 that my dad gave me back in 1997 when I completed my basic training for the military, I have been toying with moding the watch as I have had 6 straps, 4 bezels and a new module, Actually now I type it all that is original on the watch is the engraved back plate and the bezel housing, Beat and torn up, my kids used the strap while teething and it holds pride of place in my collection. Casio do build them to last though.

an f91 case would be nice. Sensorwatch sells a module for them that adds thermocompensation. steel case, sapphire and 10s/year now that would be lovely.

Lovely set of parts, glad to see options, even if they're a bit expensive. But the price is to be expected given the niche here. However, even so, I'll concede that $50 for the resin strap really hurts, especially since I'm generally not a fan of bracelets. Might stick on an OEM Casio resin strap instead, for a tenth of the price. Nonetheless, very lovely, and an interesting alternative to the A1000 series. While I wish Casio would push more of these premium budget options, I'd guess they're unfortunately not very lucrative. So again, thanks to SKX.

Great giveaway, looks best on the rubber but that strap is expensive. My problem is being unable to read the time on a Casio digital watch unless I wear my glasses. I can easily read the time on the Origin even at night without my glasses.

The only digital watch I have ever owned is a Timex Ironman Triathlon, which I used for training. I must say that the modded watch does make me consider buying a dressier digital watch, the silver version would get my vote.
