Movies are more than just a twist or a reveal. The characters need to discover things and evolve regardless of whether the audience knows what is coming. The characters in Abigail don't know she is a vampire at first. Their ignorance of that fact requires suspense until they find out the truth.

I have actually had the book on my TBR for a while but when the teaser came out I sought to consuming it. Just based off this trailer, it feels like it won’t be as faithful to the book as I would personally like. But I’m kinda interested still. I can’t remember when but there is a second book coming out I believe this year. I think I’m more excited for that than the movie. Adaptation is always going to be different, but it does feel like this will be looser. My hope is it is at least done well and draws people to Shine’s work so they can enjoy it themselves. And I agree. The big twist is awesome and I’m hoping it’s done well on screen.

I suspected the twist for a long time when I was reading it, though I wasn't sure how it could be possible, given the nature of the creatures. Even with having kind of guessed it, I thought it was a great story and can't wait for the sequel in October. I'm a little worried about liberties this film might take, but as long as it stays true to the story in general, including the twist, I'll be happy.

I'm not going to spoil anything! For those who haven't watched it. I didn't want to watch the movie initially but decided to do it anyway. My friend and I were the only ones in the entire cinema. I watched the trailer and didn't care too much about it since every trailer spoils everything, and this one didn't. Halfway through the film, my friend and I were shocked at how amazing this technique worked because we were both scared of them because of the unknown ‘creatures’ we never saw in the trailer. @@pabbate87 Yeah, that TV takes away from the caged-in feeling because, without it, they are left effectively blind. Also, thanks to the trailer, there is almost no mystery as to what "The Watchers" are. So done with trailers giving everything away (or, at best, giving enough that, once you start watching, you figure everything out way in advance). Also also, Mina is supposed to be around 32 (there's the whole thing about her being "too old to not have her life together", but still being more of an adult than the boy and girl who are supposed to be 19 and 23, respectively). I know Dakota is probably about that age, but she doesn't look it or even evoke it. And Madeleine is supposed to be a bit younger (the book says she's 46).

Finished reading the book. So far, it's looking good. I recognised many scenes from the book. But the books have some plot holes too. It would be nice to see how the director handle these things. Very excited.
@g0lddustt299 ай бұрын
The book was awful and the twist with Madeline you could see coming from a mile away. The whole premise is very "Shyamalan" so I'm hoping they could add or rework some things, but...yeah. I don't have much hope for an adaption from such flawed source material

There is one more fan theorized twist that blow our minds, In the whole movie Mina was mimicking the things she hear and even hide her identity and pretend to become someone else,and also she really is a genius of manipulating, as she easily did it man in the bar and to daniel .Just like what watchers do. So what we can guess is Mina might be a half watcher too.with no powers. Thats why madeline was still hanging around her...this is just a theory. Don't u agree to this.i found it from internet

*IMPORTANT.* I just watched this entire movie. _(I haven't seen the trailer.)_ I am mystified by the mixed and poor reviews, which are generally reliable in most cases. This movie is EXCELLENT. I am very critical and not easily impressed. I read a lot of reviews, and oddly, I found NONE that had any legit criticism of this movie. It is not what I expected.

Love seeing little Dakota Fanning & Shyamalan doing comebacks. It's taking me back to the early 00s. When sci-fi movies were popular during that time. I know Dakota is all grown up. But to me, she'll always be a child actor. Love her in Man on Fire with Denzel Washington. Creasy Bear! 😭 Still a great movie.
