What an incredible story. I am a self taught Watchmaker, who has been repairing pocket, watches, and watches for the past 15 years. It all started with a dive watch that just wouldn’t work, but I purchased well in engineering school in Canada. I really appreciated your story as my story started in my late 40s, with the same passion, and understanding the world of watchmaking

Over 50 years ago I was taking watches apart. Always wanted to be able to make one. A couple of decades ago I got a 1906 watchmakers lathe. Now it is possible to learn how online. Pocket watch on a chain is the style I like.

What an amazingly beautiful story. I feel fortunate to own a Weiss. I got mine I think during the transition. It’s post “ Los Angeles” dial but pre “ Nashville move” not real sure on the fine details but it was the 38mm Field Watch and the only style available at that time. Anyway, it’s definitely a special watch for me. Thank you 🙏

Amazing story. Keep the videos coming, sir. I am an aspiring watchmaker that will, hopefully, be able to take a tour of your workshop soon. I will be in Nashville very soon but I understand that you guys are doing some sort of “onsite filming”. Which is great! You are an inspiration and I hope to get my hands on that Standard Issue Diver some day

You have such interesting videos. A dumb question: when you tell people you're a watchmaker, you say they're blown away. Do you mean they're impressed? Or do you mean they distance themselves? (or both). Thanks!

With your goal of restoring watchmaking to the U.S., how much documentation are you creating to preserve knowledge? I'm thinking of the details that historians will be discussing 50 or 100 years from now. Has anyone been writing the history of the Weiss Watch Company as you go along? Would a history include the "C.Weiss" watch you created in Florida about 2010? In 2123, someone on the NAWCC forum will be asking how to date an American Issue Field Watch they inherited.

Hi, your video really resonates eith me and I can relate to most of what you've shared. I've reached a crossroads in my life where I'd like to pursue my passion for mechanical watches. I'd like to make my own. I appreciate I'll have to complete certification to know what I'm doing, but in the meantime, I'd like to get started on fitting out my workshop over time. Therefore, I was wondering if you would share a list of equipment and machinery I'll need to get myself off the ground once I'm certified. Is there any way I can reach out to you via email? Kind Regards, R

@@thewatchmakersworkshop I understand! My boss and I had to drive a 27-ton truck for six months (mostly freeway) without using the clutch pedal until we had time to replace the disintegrated throwout bearing.

Most fall into a job by accident, many have a career by way of a degree, some follow in the footsteps of family and then there are those born to be special. You sir are of the latter quality. If the American Dream had a poster, your picture and story would be prominently displayed. 🫵👍🍻
