The boat you see 22 mins in, those are called fan boats (or airboats, swamp boats) and they are really good at navigating swamps because they can ride on top of swamp land that is covered with vegetation or shallow water. And yes, they can for short times go across land or roads, I have see it many times.
@RyneMurray23Ай бұрын
Fan boats are very popular in marshy areas like Florida, and Louisiana. The water is full of grass and weeds that would get tangled in a regular propeller. The boat has a flat bottom and the fan is above the waterline, allowing the boat to cut through tall grass👍🏼

Cajuns are a unique group of people in Louisiana. Louisiana was a French colony before it became part of America, and the Cajun people have their own language that is a mix of French, Native American, English, and African languages (from slaves) that is only spoken in Louisiana (though most of them speak English, and the locals call their language French, even though it is unique from French) That said, there is enough overlap in languages that some people who are not Cajun speakers can somehow follow along, while most people can not, so we make a lot of jokes about this, including Farmer Fred's character.
@johnjones_1501Ай бұрын
Some movies that you might like that are set in Louisiana culture (but they speak in English so you can understand them) are Steel Magnolias (which every woman I know loves), Disney's "The Princess and the Frog", Interview With a Vampire, The Pelican Brief (lawyer movie),

I remember seeing this in the theaters when it came out, and I was high as hell. And when it got to the scene where the assistant coach is shirtless, playing with his nipples for like 4 seconds, and then just goes right back to the rest of the film as if nothing happened, I genuinely had kind of a mental breakdown for a second. I wasn't entirely sure that what I had seen had actually happened, it was just so out of left field.
@marcpower4167Ай бұрын
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving Dasha. I'm kinda with you on football, I get the basics idea but the strategies and etc. I'm lost. Basic idea is one team is trying to move the ball down the field into the "end zone" they can do this by running or passing. They have 4 attempts "downs" to move up total of 10 yards. If they gain 10 yards the downs are reset. After 4 downs if they haven't moved the necessary yards their options are to "Punt": kick the ball to the other team and effectively end their turn. They can try for a field goal by having the kicker attempt to kick the ball so that it goes between the two goal posts at the end zone, if they succeed it's 3 points otherwise the opposing team takes over from where they left off. Or they can run another play but failing to gain the necessary yards means the opposing team takes over from that spot. If the team reaches the end zone that's a touchdown they score 6 points and the chance to earn a bonus point by essentially kicking a field goal from the 30 yard line. (I think 30) or they can gamble and try for 2 bonus points by running a run or pass play from there. The defending team meaning is trying to stop them from moving up the field and push them back. They can even score when the offensive team gets backed up all the way to the other end zone: this is called a "safety" and worth 2 points. Canadian football (the CFL) is a little different I won't bother to explain that.

From your eves I take it you’ve never seen an Airboat before. They’re used in swampy areas because a regular powerboat’s motor would hit tree stumps and get tangled in too much moss. They’re a blast to ride but very noisy.

Dasha is getting about 10% of her subscribers to watch. Given that she doesn't aggressively promote the channel with other social media, that actually seems about right. She seems to be following to the demands of her core viewer base and paying Patreon members, but doesn't seem to be attracting a lot of new viewers. However, looking at numerous other reaction channels, it appears to be hard for most of them to break into the double digit thousands of views unless they watch movies made within the last couple of decades (i.e. movies the audience watched growing up), very iconic movies that have a major cult following, or recent (within the last few years) that people are curious about or have seen recently and are therefore still enthused about. I do enjoy seeing Dasha react to older films, but I can't help wondering how the channel would do reacting to movies that are currently getting major hype - that or Hindi movies 'cause those seems to have a major audience (I'm only being half facetious).
