I’m a 46 year old guy. I LOVE 80s music but only heard this song for the first time last week watching the finale of The Affair. I’ve been totally captivated by this song. I must have listened to it 100 times over the past week via all the KZbin versions. It’s such a beautiful song and makes me pine for younger days. It’s my new favorite song. I’m sad that it too me this long to discover it. ❤

guess about me: I heard it first time when I was 24, on the radio. then I lost any connection: I could not recover the title, the group, anything. 2 years ago by chance I heard it again, this time with the credits. try to guess how I felt. :-) (oh, forgot: now I am 65).

@spencergroup2 ай бұрын
@@russcornfield4241 Real musicians, that's for sure. When you think of what they had to work with back then, their creativity was off the charts. No Pro Tools, no unlimited tracks, no digital recording, plug-ins, etc. They were limited in what they could do and they did it tremendously. We, who lived through the 80s, know how fortunate we are.

I saw The Waterboys several times in the 80s. It was always impressive to see how well they played their instruments and how good they were live, and that they were able to put a new spin on their excellent songs. This song is the only Waterboys song that ever gets played on the radio, and much as I love it, it gets tedious when there is so much excellent music from them to choose from. I would be a bit disappointed if they were still playing this song in 2014 exactly the way they recorded it in 1985, when they had other band members including Karl Wallinger. I loved this.
