How fortunate you were to have won a permit for The Wave! I was also lucky to obtain a permit and the hike was beyond words, you captured it perfectly. By the way, I have a malamute that looks just like yours and seems to have the same sweet disposition. They are the best!

@Audrey Winston Hi Audrey! We were extremely fortunate and grateful to have been able to see this wonder of nature. Thank you so much for the kind words and compliments. So cool that you also have a malamute like our pup. They are a wonderful breed. Thanks again for watching and commenting!

Great video as always. The WAVE is amazing. We weren’t able to go so thanks so much for sharing your experiences. So awesome that you got a permit, but bummer about your detour and flat tire. Travel is always full of unexpected surprises. Safe travels and keep up the great videos. John and Bev

@Retirement Travelers Thank you so much! Sorry that you were not able to go to the wave as well. As I like to say, gotta leave something to return for, so, hopefully you'll get to see it in person another time. No worries on the tire. The Wave was definitely worth it. Take care and safe travels to you as well!

well two years ago, i commented here. since then i myself was able to score a permit . so i watched this video again. your photos and video look far superior to my andriod phone pics. i cant believe your luck with that burning car and flat tire. that cop was way over protective . im sure you had regrets deciding to go all the way back to route 89a. omg. anyway , just this week i went up house rock road from 89 a and went in 35 miles to a place called white pockets. you would love it. unless you have said that you would never go on house rock road again. this 4k video is just fantastic.

Hey Rob, so awesome that you made it there! Thanks for letting me know. I would love to return. I have seen pictures or video of White Pockets online and have had it marked on my Google Maps as a “Want to Go” spot for a while. So many beautiful landscapes to see out there. I think I would have to drive the road again and take my chances to see it again. Safe travels! ✌🏻

That was super cool! You are all so blessed to have been able to go there and we are as well to have you share it with us! I appreciate the bits of text along the way for further explanation. Also, definitely like that you included some of your fantastic still shots. Such awesome formations, even the unusual ones that Jackie and Ann pointed out. (Women are so much more observant to detail) Tough break with the fire and the flat, but you are right - so worth it. And you needed new tires anyway. Your videos seem to get better and better. Yeah, I would have thought 20 minutes per mile, but not with incline and sand. Lots of huffing and puffing there. 😉 Thanks Ed. Ram

@Laughing Ram Glad to bring you along on our trip to The Wave! It was such a fantastic experience for us and I've been chomping at the bit waiting to get to this video (I'm still 2 months behind...). Yes, sometimes I don't see the trees for the forest (see what I did there? 😉 ) and need to have them pointed out to me. I think a lot of times I get behind the lens and end up missing a lot of detail. Need to slow down a bit I think. It had been a while since we had done any real hiking and it certainly showed in this video. We've been hiking a ton lately though and I can feel myself getting stronger for it. Hopefully less huffing and puffing in the mic down the road. Thanks for watching & commenting Ram!

Well, I guess an extremely good luck experience must be followed by extremely bad luck experiences. Lol. Great video. HDR is definitely called for in that place. My wife and I are too old to make it up the trail, so Thanks for this great video.

Hello Homie, I"m guessing you ended up taking route 89 atl. back to page. If you went back to fredonia then back east on 89 A . its all good road . you would see some nice country and end up at a high elevation at jacob lake, then down pass marble canyon again . great video . Thank you. for sharing.

Good morning Ed and Ann. Wow....what a treat to get a slot! Can you get those online.....or you have to be present? That was an awesome start to the day! Just incredible scenery! Every minute you are in the same place is a different view with the lighting. Safe travels!
@EddieAtLarge
@EddieAtLarge 3 жыл бұрын
@campingalan Good Morning Alan! You can apply online which is what we did. You can also apply in person the day prior to the hike. They award 1/2 the slots to online winners and the other 1/2 to in person applicants. It was limited to 20 permits per day when we were there, however, they have now upped it to 64 permits per day so the chance of winning went from 4% to 12%. Glad you enjoyed the video and as always, thanks for watching and commenting!!

Congratulations! You’re gonna absolutely love it! We were there in the beginning of April in 2021. I just used a GoPro Hero 9 to film the majority of the shots. I did also use my Sony Handycam AX53 for the zoom shots.

what is the feeling of temperature there around noon time, you mentioned that day the high is 81F? I am wondering if the feel is much higher than 81F because no shade?
@EddieAtLarge
@EddieAtLarge 2 жыл бұрын
@Ziqiang Wang If I recall, we returned just before noon and it was getting really hot. Yes, there is no shade. 81 in low humidity feels like 81-85, however, you will also get very thirsty due to the low humidity. Take lots of water (not just bottles - recommend using a Camel Back type system in a backpack), sunscreen and consider taking a portable umbrella for shade in case of emergency. I would recommend leaving as early as possible in the morning and returning before noon. It was very hard hiking through the sand as you can see in the video. I would also recommend subscribing to the All Trails app and downloading the trail map before you go as the trail markers and map are hard to follow. Hope that info helps!

@@EddieAtLarge thanks. now I need to search for camel type water backpack. the early morning has a lot of shadow on the wave, so I guess the noon time maybe better for photography?
