The Wave is a sit-down renovated version of the previous Shockwave at Drayton Manor, an Intamin Stand Up coaster built in 1994. The new ride features yellow sit down trains reminiscent of The Smiler trains but with 6 cars.

@@tayo0404 it's fine, they're similar to friction brakes on old B&Ms, pretty loud but they can handle it. They just need to replace the brake pads every so often which isn't a big deal.

Enthusiasts sure do love being unenthusiastic... Albeit the ride is no longer a standup, I'm glad that this coaster is still standing and operating. It was Intamin's first and only stand-up, and the coaster that Walter and Claude of B&M developed their famous track spine for and kept to this day.

I have no idea why anyone wants to go to a park and after walking around, waiting in line, would wish to stand on a coaster, much less the restraints not having been good even on the latter B&M ones. They fixed this coaster so people will actually ride it, the people whom loved the 90's fad aren't the market we could use more of this and less "keep it the way it is!" to simply fix garbage into good enough but we still got like 3 in the USA torturing humanity.

Shockwave (The Wave) reminds me of that first time you try and build a coaster on Planet Coaster yourself but you use mostly set peices and the default colour scheme 😂

It looks to be running quite quick which is good to see! I'm looking forward to seeing how free the lap bars feel but I wish there was something that could be done to make those brakes less sharp at the end.

It uses the same train design as Cannibal at Lagoon, as both trakns were built by ART Engineering. I actually have Lagoon as my home park, and yall are in for a treat, as Cannibals restraints are very comfortable.

Looks a lot faster than Shockwave, therefore more intense and feeling more vulnerable and exposed with just a lapbar. I can't see this being the supposed family thrill ride they're marketing but a bonafide white knuckle ride

Perfectly honest here, it’s pretty much just a boring ass roller coaster now, without apocalypse or shockwave being standup, I have to drive an hour and a half to go on storm force ten and maelstrom, not a very good deal to me.

It’s a shame it’s losing a world record to be honest , the only stand up coaster In the world with an in-line twist. But I’m happy with the changes, the ride was slightly uncomfortable as a standup and wasn’t really a pleasant ride experience , this will make it a completely new experience and feel like a brand new ride for the UK Can’t wait to try it

@@peshcoaster I know, but it looks for all the world like a B&M (box spine track, 4-across trains) and its trajectory is very similar - built during the stand-up craze and now converted to sit-down. It's not totally a coincidence. B&M was founded by two former employees from Giovanola, who used to manufacture rides for Intamin.

EXACTLY, THE ONLY REASON I WENT IS MAELSTROM, SHOCKWAVE, APOCALYPSE AND STORM FORCE TEN. SHOCKWAVE IS BASIC AS FUCK WITHOUT STANDUP TRAINS AND APOCALYPSE IS CLOSED, IM NOT DRIVING HOUR AND A HALF TO GO ON MAELSTROM AND STORM FORCE FUCKING TEN
