When I was young, I remember helping my grandfather, using a wide front 720 diesel and a chain drag that was basically just a tool bar with a panel of chain link fence strung behind it. We did overlapping passes too, but since we had a wide front we used a piece of rebar strapped to the front weights with a length of chain hanging down to gauge where to keep the wheels. We have a lot of terraces on our place, and I was always having to get off the tractor to re-attach pieces of the drag that would get caught as I crested a terrace. Thanks for reminding me of some good memories, Pete.

Aww Pete. I am sorry about your grandfather's accident. It is not 6 year old Pete's fault. Your memory of that will keep you and your family safe from a repeat of that. Be safe please. No more "harrowing" experiences for the Larsen family. You sharing that sad story helps all of us be safer too now. Thank you for that Sir! You are a consciencious caring person. Chuck in Florida

Farming, particularly on a smaller operation, is as much an art as it is a science, I think. Your content -- and creative trouble-shooting -- is a testament to that, and I am glad (as would be, I suspect, your grandfather) that your family is keeping that ethos alive. Thanks for the content.

Hi Pete, I loved seeing the big smile on your face when the Super C started up on your first try😊 You did such a wonderful restoration job on her, and now you are enjoying the fruits of your labor. That 8’ tree growing up through the harrow is proof positive you had not used it in quite a few years. Great “farmer fix” on the broken runner! A beautiful day to be out doing fieldwork on “just a few acres!” Thanks for another great video & have a blessed day!

I’m sorry to hear your story about your grandpa and how you feel. My great grandmother was as kind and sweet as could be. She was deaf and I made fun of her as a child right up until she died. I was about 9 yrs old. I’ve never forgiven myself for that. I pray that she really knew that I loved her and how much I miss her. It changed me for the better

Hey Pete, when I was about nine my father and I went to my grandfather's farm to help out with either corn or oat harvest. I was too small to fork the bundles onto the trailer in the field so so drove the two 8 N Fords back and forth between the field and my grandfather feeding the chopper / silo filler or the threshing machine. On one of the trips I swung around the big circle drive and when I looked back I saw the trailer jump as it bounced over my uncle's new car front fender. I cried all the way back to the field. That uncle is the only one still alive of my dad's family and thank goodness he doesn't remember the incident. I'm still in his will !:)

I was sitting in a pew one Sunday, when I was about your age at the time of the accident you had with your Grandpa. The preacher's sermon was postulating that "only Jesus bears 'the cross'. Great Video Pete. well done and love the drone shots puts everything into perspective nicely. And we all have our Grandfather Bad memories. when I was a kid (about 6-7 I was sliding on my new Arrow sled. with the shiny black metal front steering. and came around the corner and my Grandfather was on his way home from the store, and I couldn't steer out of the way fast enough and hit him in the ankles with the sled and knocked him down. didn't break any bones. but he had severe cuts and bruises from the thin metal bar on the front across his ankles for years. that was 73 years ago and I still have nightmares over that one. he passed back in 1955 and still had those marks on his ankles. Memories of our youth. some are good, some are bad. thanks for sharing yours Pete. God speed. ECF

I worked with a fellow up in VT who taught me a heck of a lot about masonry and general construction. In the fall he sold a bit of firewood and I was helping him load up a couple cords into his truck. As the truck got full and we were tossing pieces up high I saw one of mine slip off and I yelled heads up! It slid off and hit him square in the back of the head as he was bent over. He put his hand on the spot, waited a bit and said "you told me you didn't like stacking wood with your stepdad as a kid... I bet you did that on purpose". He was a heck of a good guy to work with and I always think of that literally every time a toss a stick of firewood. And I put up about 30 cords a year. That's a lot of feeling bad haha!
