I used to have two Burmese Tortoiseshell cats. When my children were toddlers, the cats would hide in the wardrobe and shut the door after themselves. Then when they thought the boys were asleep, they would creep along the corridor on their tummies past the 'monsters' bedroom. Both cats lived until they were 22! He's covering the scent. I'm assuming that's where baby's bum was. Scent covering is also a form of protection the same way our cats sit with their backs to us while we're in the bathroom. They know poop smells and it can attract predators. Goodest Boi, Chase, doesn't want anyone to smell his brother and eat him.
