Hey AvenueX, I LOVE all of these videos as you wonder the streets of your hometown. I just returned from Shanghai, but still haven't made it out to visit Chongqing... one day! And as always, thank you for the updates. I am super excited about the 2025 film version of Condor Heros, simply because I love Jin Yong's work. Fingers crossed that the film is watchable. 拜见AvenueX! Thanks for the review. Something came to mind while watching it. Years ago before the pandemic, I met a guy a few times at a Chinese study group. He was a white guy, medium height, medium build, short reddish blonde hair in his 20s at the time and his Chinese was really good. I guess he was a tour guide on a riverboat in 重庆 and he might still be doing that. Unfortunately, I cannot remember his name but he could speak excellent Chinese. Continue having a great trip!

@theheartrender6343 Have watched up to episode 10. It's funny, a bit slapstick kind of humour. Don't take it too seriously and you will enjoy. Dylan's acting is average at best. Still watchable for now

I think there’s a drama on Mango that’s worth checking out : Begin Again (Chinese title: 灿烂的风和海) starring Zhong Chuxi, Elvis Han, Sun Yang and Chen Haoyu. It’s surprisingly good for a drama made to celebrate the Macau’s return to China. It’s not too “advertorial”, easy to the eyes and easy to the brain. Very enjoyable

Re:Under the Skin 2, did the scriptwriter recently go through a bad divorce or what? Too many of the cases seemed to have evil, deceptive, manipulating women at the core of the mysteries. They also seemed to have a repetitive theme of Shen Yi confronting the suspected perpetrator (by himself!) and getting saved at the last minute by Du Cheng. I was disappointed.

Ma Boquan seems to be the go-to guy for playing young teenage boy. He is the younger brother of Dr Lin Yi in the medical drama The Heart 问心, the younger brother of one of the neighbors of 小巷人家. the love-stuck teenage boy caught by principal 张桂梅 in 山花烂漫时, and who knows what else. Talk about overexposure!

I've watched four episodes of Guardians of the Dafeng and am liking it so far. There are some likeable characters in it, including the lead. I'm not a mandarin speaker, so I can't comment on Dylan's accent, however.

I really appreciate your honest reviews especially the production companies who are obviously targeting non Chinese audiences, like the skin whitening. In a lot of dramas I noticed sometimes the lighting is so bright it’s unnatural! Year of Wood Snake! I wonder if anyone will produce something for that!

I sadly couldn't get far in The Way Home. I could be forgiving of the acting, but it's trying too hard to focus on the subtly BL aspect. It comes off as a deep emotional drama, but the storytelling isn't telling. Seems like they were hoping for bl fans to hype it up reguardless of the plot holes. Sad because i liked the setup and themes of it. Anyway, happy new year, and thanks for continuing to upload on your vacation

ROI is, of course, an important consideration but I doubt that this sentiment is what keeps actors going year in, year out. If only projects with an "assured" ROI are allowed to see the light of day on film or stage than all of us will be definitely the "poorer" in psychological/cultural terms. Money generating should never be the absolute "metre" of the validity of human endeavour, or no? The god money is notorious "fickle" as to whom he "favours".
