There remains an unwritten "unless something really sad happens..." but of course he intends on finishing the series. He's not known for getting writer's block so as long as we keep him from getting run over by a van then we should see it's end one day..

Sanderson completed the first draft of The Way of Kings in 2003. It was published 7 years later. He has been planning this series since at least the late 90s. And that is why it's head and shoulders above anything else he has written. It's not like he actually completes them in 2-3 years. Decades of work have gone into it. We'll see how he fares once he starts approaching the end like GRRM is.

@@mukeka1337 Planning as in thinking about it. No he doesn't come up with everything in between the periods, but he does write all the books within that period. No one sits down and starts to write a book without any idea of what to write.

FINALLY. I don't know why it took me this long to write up this review and film/edit it, just been so busy lately. Starting now I should be uploading more regularly. Had some difficulty filming and re-filming this review, as well as fixing audio problems, so it might be a bit choppy. Also, I meant to have some Stormlight Archive inspired bookmarks for sale in my Etsy shop, but haven't gotten around to designing them yet. They should be up once I start making the lore videos though! The Way of Kings is such an amazing book, and I recommend it to all fantasy lovers! Great video on a very great book series! Personally, I love Wit (or the King's Wit) the most, simply because he's not a character that we see too much of, plus it's always a joy and a wonderful journey to read about him...but from the main cast, I think I love Kaladin the most, closely followed by Shallan and now with Oathbringer Dalinar. These characters are all wonderful in their own right, but it's really their interactions that make them shine :D

I think it would be great if you also looked at other series or books. If anyone is considering picking up this book for the first time, I highly recommend reading along with the Duke and Duchess Podcast! They cover 50 page chunks (about 5 chapters at a time) and then spin their theories as they go along. Right now, they are currently on Words of Radiance. They’ve also done the Kingkiller Chronicle and the Gentleman Bastards Sequence 👌🏻 I recommend them to everyone every chance I get because they’re just fantastic people and open your eyes to things you’ve missed ✨

Let me tell you something: listening to your reviews makes me want to dive into every book you talk about without hesitation (I started the Wheel Of Time after watching your review of your fisrt book). You have this particular way to analyze books with depth and precision and I think that's something most of the booktubers lack off. Daniel Greene and You are without any doubt my favorite booktubers, your contents are just original. And I am reading this one right now and since I started it I can't put it down. The universe, the characters, the story, everything is amazing. The dialogues!!! Man can we talk about that? The exchanges between the characters is so well written I don't them to stop talking. This is just amazing. PS: Sorry for my english, not very good at it.

From a mainly non-fiction reader......The wisdom and lessons which come from the characters are incredible and you can definitely apply this to real life. No review can do this book justice, the story and characters are pure brilliance and it makes a lot of other fiction books look like children's books. The way each character shows a different level of society, and how optimizing each part of society comes together to create a better future. Im sure many different analogies can be taken from this book. Its definitely changed me for the better, as all books do!

Just read the first three books and had no idea this will be 10 books! Such great news. The first two were so good I decided to read the whole Wheel of Time series because Sanderson did the last couple books in the series. Don't miss out on his Mistborn series, its good too!

This is my favorite series of all time. I couldn't love it more and I'm so, so happy to see someone else enjoying it! I just gained yet another level of respect for Sanderson while watching this video. Simply because the information you just gave out must be insanely overwhelming to anyone who hasn't read the series before. "There's an assassin with magical powers known as Lashings and who used a Shardblade to fight the king of Alethkar, Gavilar, who is a Shardbearer also. During their fight, the Assassin, Szeth, can be seen drawing in Stormlight to fuel his magic. A power that hasn't been seen since the Recreance. Stormlight is a magical, yet in modern times is more often mundanely used, light which originates from these insanely huge hurricane like storms and can be captured inside of gemstones. Those stones, based on size and cut, can hold Stormlight for longer periods of time than small and uncut ones. These are also used as the primary currency in this society. Due to the assassination attempt on their king, the Alethi people are frenzied into a war known as the Vengeance Pact. This war is fought against the humanoid race known as the Parshendi. A cousin race to the docile Parshmen, this dull minded group who are distinguishable based on their marbled red, black, and/or white skin, yet they do have some differences to their Parshendi brethren. The Parshmen are treated something between a slave and a beast of burden. Their temperament and work ethic has actually made them more highly sought after than their human slave counterpart. Behind all of these things are millenniums old historical events. Times like the Shadow Days, a time of myth and lore, those events that were blasted away by the sands of time, the times when the Heralds of the Almighty first began returning at the leading edge of each Desolation, Desolations being events where an evil group known only as "The Voidbringers" appear and try to wipe mankind from the face of Roshar, and the time of the Knights Radiant, who are the collective group made up of virtuous magical warriors that, at some point, betrayed mankind to the Voidbringers..." and on you could go. Talking about things that sound like some sort of fever dream. Yet the way in which Brandon gives you all this information you rarely, if ever, get bored or overwhelmed reading about all of it. The world feels lived-in and interesting. The story is compelling to the point it's discouraging, or awe inspiring, if you're considering becoming a writer yourself. I cannot recommend this story enough. Don't let the fact it's planned to be 10 books discourage you. There will be two sets of five. Meaning you'll get at least some resolution after the next two books are released. Which Brandon writes so fast, I would image that both of them will be out by 2024. So, you needn't worry about living book to book for years and years and years to come.

Thanks for this! It's been so long since I read the first book. Haven't read the others. I didn't realize it's supposed to be a 10 book series. Wow. I'm not sure I want to dive in again until it's complete. Just my luck that I'd get all involved and have it not be finished for whatever reason!

One word of advice: Read Warbreaker before starting Stormlight. There are an unusual number of worldhopper characters from that in books 2 and 3 and it really helps to contextualize some of the things that happen.

Started it 2 nights ago. About half way through now. Literally can't stop reading it. Thanks for making this video. When I watched it before it helped persuade me into buying the first 3 books. At the rate I'm going, I'm gonna need to grab that 4th book real soon. Sadly I'll have to wait for book 5 but Sanderson writes so fast!! Have a good one. And if anyone is on the fence try this book! Love every part of it. I'm a quick reader so the semi slow burn at first didn't effect me at all. Mainly because he writes in a way where I want to know more so I just keep going. Haha

Youve explained this series or at least the gist of it better than anyone here on youtube. (Yes even Mr. Greene as i found he rambled a bit bit the video is years old and hes much better now). But i almost get Beserker vibes with a "lone" soilder/warrior and the fairy sidekick but Guts isnt as honorable as our main character im told. I got the book on my kindle and i just picked up the physical copy from my libraey so thanks for giving me that push i needed. I think im actually insane because i just finished the first book in WOT and plan to continue that as well. Plus my library got a brand new edition of The gunslinger in so i HAD to pick that up too. Starting 3 universally reknowned series the same month? Yup ive lost it i think but hey were all a little crazy. Sorry bout the rambling there! Thanks again kind sir! Light bless you!
