Dalinar is around 60. It is said he is 50-something, but age counting works differently on Roshar.

As a massive Cosmere fan, I always enjoy seeing how religion is dealt with. I'm rereading Hero of Ages right now, and the religious exploration with Sazed is just SO GOOD. And yes, I adore Kaladin! My poor angsty boy. I'm not a huge Shaman fan, but I definitely see her being your kind of character.

I also really liked Shallan, and Words of Radiance is her background story like Way of Kings was Kaladin's. It's excellent!

Her dialogue is so corny.

The review is not completely spoiler-free, but the spoiler is not from this book but other cosmere books. I didn't really want to learn about Hoid, would have been better to discover this stuff on my own (haven't read any other Sanderson-books yet). If you want to avoid spoiler about Hoid, skip the part between 7:49 and 8:13.

I love how Sanderson handles religion, because despite being religious myself, I thing religion NEEDS to be critiqued, and questioned, but also given a chance. I think he does a really good job at showing just how fallible humans are, and how wrong they can be, but also showing how most everyone cares about finding truth, finding the best way to be, and how to treat others.

Frick! I'm reading The Way of Kings, and it's my first Sanderson book... now I wonder if I should stop midway to read his other stuff first... :o Anyway, I'm already so in love with The Way of Kings; I can't even imagine it getting any better.

You can start in any of his series and be very satisfied. No need to start with mistborn etc

I knew you wouldn’t give this book any less than 4 stars. Book 2 is my fave in this series btw, I also didn’t feel as attached to WoK when I read it the first time but I knew the series was gonna grow better and better with each book.

Hi Sam, love your channel. Greetings from Cape Town, South Africa 🤗 I've read Warbreaker and loved it. Can you recommend a reading order for the Cosmere Books?
@ThoughtsOnTomes4 жыл бұрын
Blackraven 777 Brandon Sanderson has a few options listed on his website that I recommend

I'm almost 50% into the first book and after reading 2/3 of the 1st Mistborn series I definitely saw some interesting similarities with the magic systems so far. edit: What also caught my attention is how the magic users can change their gravity in relation to the environment and how much this reminds me of Ender's Game strategies incorporating the zero gravity conditions, but that just might be a coincidence/unintentional thing

Do you recommend reading his cosmere books in publication order or one series at a time?

one series at a time for sure! He has a few reading order options listed on his website.

Not to nitpick, but saying shallan actually intends to steal the soul caster is a bit of a spoiler.
@ThoughtsOnTomes4 жыл бұрын
since she lets us know that intention within her introduction in the story, I disagree
@animalobsessed14 жыл бұрын
If you're going to call anything a spoiler, I'd say it's more spoilery to call Kaladin a slave, since his first appearance was as squad leader in Cenn's chapter

Haha, Way of Kings was my first Sanderson book ^^ I liked Shallan in the first book. I strongly disliked her in the second, and she wasn't as bad in the third.
