As I was watching Izzy, I thought her exploring is her type of mindfulness. She notices and experiences things that the rest of us are in too much of a hurry to give a second thought. I love it. Bless you guys.

Having taught special kids just like her in school, it's obvious you ARE DOING everything just perfectly! As you say, Izzy is thriving, happy, and most of all, loved very very much! She is one lucky girl and you are one lucky family, too! ❤❤

As the mother of a medically complex child (now an adult). The one thing it maybe helpful to consider for the future is that getting an official diagnosis while a minor helps tremendously in getting help, services, and funding when they do attain adulthood. Many are not accessible if not diagnosed as a minor. Whether this will change in the future, idk. Just my experience. Btw, your daughter is a beautiful delight!

If people are so concerned they need to go watch the video of Izzy in the orphanage. Then they need to think how far Izzy has come. She finally knows love and trust. You guys are the best. God put Izzy in your home for a reason. I love your family and all her giggles.

I was with y’all (in spirit) when you went to the orphanage and when you guys knew you couldn’t leave her. God bless you both and your whole family for turning a child’s life into love, purpose and meaning. She was not being taken care of before y’all brought her home. Even if she has all those disabilities and names for her conditions most importantly is the difference love have brought to her sweet face. I can’t even believe she is the same child. I’m so happy for her and all of you guys.

I LOVE her giggles, so gorgeous. Haters will always try to bring people down, and probably 99% have never even interacted with a child with special needs. I can plainly see how much she is loved, and you are giving her the quality of life that she deserves, I can see she is thriving and that’s all down to your family. I know it can be difficult but try to ignore the people who are ignorant. Thank you for sharing ❤

Oh my HEART.. seeing her little feet wiggling when Stan was feeding her ice cream, or her cross her little feet when sitting on the bar stool, heck, just to see her EAT ice cream or sitting in the bar stool alone, girl, it made me cry!!! I remember when a bottle was the only way to get anything in her, look at her go!!! (She has the sweetest feet!) YOU GO IZZY!!!! How my heart wants to hug you. Hearing you giggle after we all watched for so long and that was only a hope and a dream .... GOD IS ABSOLUTELY GOOD!!! Ashley and Stan, I truly have no words to explain what a gift you are to these babies AND us because the words haven't been created! The only ones I can come up with are CHRIST LIKE!! You SHOW how Jesus sees and loves us. Ok I'm gonna shut up now I could go on and on. Thank you for what you have gifted Izzy, but also US by allowing us to be some small part of your journey. May GODS OWN HAND pour blessings upon y'all from HIS throne.

Having worked with autistic children, I find watching her an absolute joy. Having a son who is high end Asperger, he was never truly joyful or happy which even today still I still feel sad and even blame myself for this. So this brings me much joy, may your family continue to be blessed and have success in all you do! ❤

I just saw this now. Having 2 adopted special needs kids in my brood, I sadly have experienced strangers who apparently know better than me. I am so sorry. In the past, I actually had tried to imagine what it is like for Izzy to experience the world, and I can't. I do know that it's nothing like a walking, talking, non-developmentally delayed, sighted child. Just regarding one issue, think of how many thought processes, sensory input, and how one's mind integrates all of that to understand levels: floors, beds, seating, counters... She does not and never will experience that like others. And is there a reason to attempt to "train" her to make it appear that she does, beyond what makes some strangers "comfortable?" Thank you for making one of God's most special orphans part of your family. What does Jesus say about becoming more like a child...? Thank you for not being jaded by the world.

It’s 2023 and continued to be floored, angry, upset, enraged at the judgement and criticism of those with disabilities. Criticism of the parents. I am so sorry you are experiencing this. You have no educational background in special Ed., but Stan and you have done outstanding as parents. Coming from one who has been educated in special Ed. I became a teacher because of the impact Annie Sullivan, Helen Keller’s teacher had on me. My career began with teaching those with hearing impairments and then those with learning disabilities. You have been prepared by God through your life’s journey. Bless you!

Gosh how far Izzy has come. To see her come from so little and confined to giggling and laughing and experiencing joy is a testament to your parenting. Thank you for letting her explore in her own way. I love her little giggle, her habit of sitting with her feet up and how well she can use here little toes and feet to explore. Can I just say that Isabell is such a joy and such a beautiful soul I am legally blind which kind of means that the government knows that I’m going or visually impaired, etc. etc. so they just put it out there that I’m legally blind but I know what you guys are going through. I also have a little bit of disabilities, but I do think my God, but Isabel is such a beautiful soul.❤❤❤❤

She does a lot if things my almost 3 year old autistic son does... he looks for sensory imput on his feet and mouth all day! Loves ti feel cold surfaces and the biggest thing us the mouthing... what really helps is his weighted compression vest and dry brushing... such smart, sensitive kids who all day just looks for ways to help their sensory needs :)

I saw a talk,years ago, by Larry Tobin. He said that children raised with very little human contact (as in orphanages) often hit themselves or pinch themselves as a sensory survival reaction. Your central nervous system needs stimulation of your senses (like touch) to survive and grow. She was literally keeping herself alive without outside physical touch. I was paraphrasing. His books are helpful. You guys are wonderful.
