I, more than anyone, know how much work is put into singing things in sync, without a metronome. It takes a lot of tries and takes to make it all perfect. Wonderful phrasing fellas ;)

No. Barbershop is done freely. So, it starts with the lead, or in some cases the bass. Then they'll work everything else off of that. Uptunes can have metronomes sometimes. But not ballads, because they're very free-form.

I'm 75. I was in a quartet when I was in my twenties. If we had attempted to sing this song, we might have done it differently than you do. Our range was lower and some people might have liked that better but I doubt that many people would like our version better then yours overall!

Barbershop singers enjoy classics and order my learning tracks for songs like this one, and that's (in part) how I can afford to spend 30+ hours making these free videos. There also aren't a lot of barbershop arrangements of modern songs to my regret.
