I grew up in the middle of nowhere in the 80s, when my parents first started leaving me home alone my dad always said….if anyone ever tries to break in, you know where the shotgun is. So sure as shit one of the first times I’m home alone this big white rapevan comes pulling up our long country driveway so I run in the house and grab dads shotgun and met the guy at the screen door of our house. He said something about selling pizzas but his van didn’t have any logos or anything on it and it just felt wrong, so from behind the screen door while holding a shotgun I says….we don’t want any pizzas. He turned around and left 🤣

My Dad actually was a farm laborer at Del Monte farms in Thika. Life was hard. We used to live in tin shacks, could only afford a meal a day, if lucky, two. Walked to school barefoot. We had no option. Looking back, we were being exploited by Del Monte. My Dad said it was like forced labor. Got lucky, won the green card and now I am in the States. Del Monte is shit
