“Gypsies are the navy seals of bullshit” That killed me 😂
@CoffeeAndPaul6 ай бұрын
I like all the Gypsies I've ever met. It's hilarious to me how superstitious they are, though. I'm a part-time hotelier with more than a Decade of time working night audit. One time one of my properties was hosting a group of Gypsy wedding guests. They loved me because I'm like them, a very strange mix of ethnicities & family histories. We had some very interesting, deep conversations. Anyway, I get on at 11pm. It's Midnight & about a dozen of our Gypsie guests, all guys, are quietly playing dominos in my lobby. They play dominos literally the opposite of how you expect a game of dominos to go in the middle of summer & after everyone's had a drink or 2. It was a quiet, serious game, & from what I heard they were talking serious stuff. They were discussing how to set up the newlyweds, like were they already shopping for a home? where? did they want to stay here or live in Europe? would it be rude to their parents if they recommended a new lawyer as their kids' family attorney, because the parents' attorney was old & maybe he wasn't hip to the things young couples deal with, legally speaking. Then, sometime soon after Midnight they stopped their 3 dominos games suddenly. I don't even think anyone said anything to stop it. They simply stopped, all at the same time. They stood up & walked out the front door. I was curious because I've never seen a group of regular people just totally change what they're doing without saying anything. I waited until the last person left & was out of sight & then I walked out, too. Do you know what they did, why they stopped? They stopped their game so that they could start their trucks & trade parking spaces, no shit. These guys literally pulled out their trucks (it was pretty much all trucks but someone was driving a classic Volkswagen Vanagon & it had THE CUTEST lace curtains 😍😍) & swapped parking spaces with the Gypsie parked next to or close to them. I watched them do this & when they all got out & walked past me I didn't even ask why. Like I said, hoteliers are superstitious people. We are caretakers for a place that some people purposely choose to get married in, some people purposely choose to commit suicide in, some people purposely choose to conceive babies in, & some people go legitimately crazy in (especially in the time of COVID) whether voluntarily or involuntarily, so... I get it, even though I don't get it. They all walked back in & went straight to bed. Then, 6AM-ish, ALL the women in their group from the age of 20 to 70 came down, walked out, & walked laps of the hotel parking lot. People seem to associate Gypsies with chaos in a certain sense, like somehow they're unpredictable or they are disrespectful of laws. They're not. They're very organized. They seem unpredictable & mysterious because most people don't understand their culture. I still stuff grape leaves with the ingredients they told me.

@@CoffeeAndPaulthat sounds like the complete opposite of my experience with those people. I work in pharmacy and there’s a lot of them that come and pick up meds. They’re always trying to get something out of us. A free pill or two, frequent use of antibiotics (which you’re not supposed to do) and a general disdain for law and order. They’re rude and throw temper tantrums when they can’t get what they want because they get offended easily. We’ve had to ban a lot of them. One guy even got caught smoking meth in the bathroom, got arrested and ended up going to prison because he was also selling it. Of course, like any group of people there’s good and bad. I’m here in Illinois, I wonder where you’ve had your experiences.
