The Wayward Light

The Wayward Light - this is the unruly light that behaves like a nasty child and wants to run wherever you don't want it to go. In this case, we’re talking about controlling and educating the light to perform the way we need it.
In this video many different tools, exclusive to dedolight, are presented and shown. Using these tools it it possible to control the "wayward light" and make it behave how we need it.
Some of these tools are established, others are brand new and are being shown for the first time in this video.
The dedolight Parallel Beam Intensifier, which magically increases the light output many times beyond the spot performance, thus making the light, with the parallel beam intensifier, a mighty tool in the world of reflected light systems.
The Framing Intensifier. It really looks like a very big gun on a small device. It is an absolute optical marvel but it will work exclusively attached to one of our focusing lights and it will allow us to light a highly defined area with super high intensity.
The new dedolight Flag system for reflected light, patent applied for, can be used for getting rid of all the parasitic light that would otherwise go up down left right of the reflector. No more extra stands needed, mission accomplished.
There is a special setup of the four flag system, demonstrated in the video above, and the appropriate holding devices and a few simple accessories that can all be placed on a single crossbar with four studs holding four reflectors. which usually leaves a fifth stud to attach a fifth reflector; a smaller reflector can be placed in addition to create a particular accent or highlight, so that adds the whole group of reflectors and even an Efflect can be added, all using a single lighting stand or suspension.
This represents a very serious step forward.

Well in less than 18 months - well done sir. Since we first spoke about the light that passes the reflectors. Look forward to seeing these - apart from the framing parallel beam adaptors - the reflector back grounds I suspect will be indoors only

I think the inclusion of these inventions will drastically increase your reflected light system's usefulness, good job! I wonder though, is there an option for putting a "cap" in the centre of the flags/collapsible reflectors? As powerful as I think the ability to have different levels of reflection within one light source, it would be really nice to be able to use the collapsible reflectors on their own as well, without a circular hole in the middle. I actually think collapsible flags and reflectors with this system could be really popular on their own, as the fixed size of regular flags often becomes a hassle on productions with small lighting equipment transportation. This seems like the perfect balance between convenience and control :)

I understand your question. The same unfolding black flag and the potential to cover those with different reflective materials, simply by sliding the reflective material over the black flag and fastening it with a zipper already exist and are called 5-in-1 reflector, meaning one is black and then you have a reversible two-sided cover in black, gold, silver and soft gold. Very useful, but commonly available from many sources. Not all of them fold well and unfold well. Usually they don’t form a straight surface when unfolded. If you want to learn more about it, we can supply the 5-in-1 reflectors. We usually hold them with a reflector holder, which is an expanding stick that mounts onto a lighting stand and has two clamps. You’re asking about the Framing Intensifier mentioned in one of our latest videos. I behave like a little kid in the sandbox. I dream of things that are beyond the horizon and have never been built and amazingly, I make them work. Optically, the Framing Intensifier is a little bit of a miracle because what we do here is to create a second light source in front of the light. And for some reason, this is not a virtual light source but a real, active light source that allows us to add optics that allow employing light shaping accessories. I built this for three different ones of our lights and it does indeed work and perform, but it is a pretty big gun on a relatively small light. And it serves only one purpose: to create a relatively precise light framing or light shaping opportunity. And within the Lightstream system, that would only be good to address one single reflector or a group of reflectors with precision or any other shape caused by iris or other light shaping devices. But within the dedolight Lightstream system, the idea is that from the very first reflector or group of reflectors we then guide the light towards other reflectors. And therefore the framing precision with can eliminate in the first step any parasitic light that might otherwise go over, under or left and right of the reflector or group. But once we move on to the next reflector and further, the advantage is lost. Therefore it could eventually be a high-precision device if anybody needs it in the present capability and form. And if there is serious interest and I know with which kind of light that would be desired, be it one of our focusing LED light or the series 400, where the DLH400, the 400W HMI light would be the most powerful and possibly suitable, we can look at it again and calculate it and make our special offer. This would at the moment not be planned as a regular product and therefore we will not promote it any further. It was just a mention and it leads us to the explanation that within the dedolight Lightstream system, it is a little bit superfluous. And in the end, the same can be achieved by regular devices like our projection attachments, which give the same or maybe even better precision, no colour fringing and the adjustment of the light shaping to utmost precision, even down to a hairline size light appearance like caused by a laser. And usually, this is a little bit against the laws of physics, because when light is forced to go through a very narrow door, it wants to create colours like red, green and blue. If those are wanted, then you can get this from many different existing devices. But my pride is that we can create the super high precision down to lighting the end of a needle, one facet of a diamond. So that is already in existence and is a regular product. The framing intensifier does indeed offer similar function and a little heightened intensity. But no, it is not a regular product. If you want to buy one, I can calculate it for you and we can build one. So don’t expect to find much more on our website, it would be confusing. The multitude of our lights and accessories is already quite confusing enough.
