I'm straight and I have always loved this song. The Weather Girls have wonderful, powerful voices and no one else could have recorded this song. Music does not have to be deep, dark, serious and political. It can be pure joy, which this is. Thank you Weather Girls!

It worked out the way it was supposed to. I can't imagine anyone else singing this song.

As a straight guy with lots of gay friends this song has always made me laugh, but as a musician they should be glad all those other singers passed on it. The Weather Girls can absolutely sing better than most of the others and they really made this song a vocal powerhouse.

I remember when the Weathergirls first came out with this and it was amazing. So much controlled power in their voices and so much fun. Much, much later Ginger Spice did such a valium-laden cover of it, everyone went to sleep.

In hindsight do you really think you could hear Barbra Streisand singing it's raining men?😂😂😂😂😂 I love Barbra but all true. I couldn't image..

The person who recorded ‘Love to Love You Baby’ was the slightest bit concerned about blasphemy?

Touché, she had quite a few salacious songs during that era that made her famous... Sex sells. However, she became very selective when she had more options.

I've never liked paul Shaffer.... he's always bugged the crap out of me on letterman. I especially disliked his performance with Steve Martin. Not that this matters to him or the universe at large, but knowing he had a hand in this song makes me appreciate him as a musician. Good job Paul, well done!

Donna Summer had some major religious hangups and went through a major low after recording "Love To Love You Baby".
@djgavint4 жыл бұрын
"A major low"??? LTLYB was 1975, and Donna's career exploded with success after that!!!
@markg68604 жыл бұрын
@@djgavint I meant she had a personal low after recording LTLYB ... because of the sexual lyrics and the fact that she laid on the studio floor during the recording session.

@@markg6860 What both your comments are as stupid as fuck. When Paul asked her to record the song it was 1982, and yes Donna was born again and surrounded by church people at the time, so yes she was very into the word of God at the time. But in 1975, her career was just starting, she was pop music first female mega star. The most commercial successful female artist of the 70s worldwide. She was the game changer for all female artists, not just black female artists. She pushed the boundaries by crossing into multiple genres and sold millions of record worldwide.

It may also be nice to mention that Martha Wash is also the singer of 'Black Box'. Ride on Time and Strike It Up. The early nineties. So the beautiful lady in the video clips is not the original singer.

JanuitGroningen no it was Loleatta Holloway’s vocals from ‘Love Sensation’ that was sampled for Ride on time.

She is also the voice on the C & C factory hit "Everybody dance now".
Also, Barbara Streisand singing this? I wish I could visit that multiverse where she accepted and did the song. That would be fun.

"it's rainin' aids" ( it was too) it was a novelty record. to silly for donna summer and the others. Barbra? I don't thing so. . . they probably thought because they did "enough is enough" they might do this too. perfect for the weather girls though. most of donna summers's disco were done really, really well. pull up "spring affair" or "come with me", heaven knows" lush disco.

Todd In The Shadows made a great observation about this song: it was very obviously written by men because men typically objectify sex partners and fantasize multiple bodies to ogle at once whereas women more typically fantasize about companionship. Of course, a disco song about all of the hot men you could ever want falling out of the sky was going to appeal to OTHER men!
