The art style degrades so much in the later seasons that it's so awful. Every woman looks the same now and it's ironic how Minthe who is stated to be flat-chested now has big boobs now. Like wtf. They all look like a recoloured Persephone. For some weird ass reason the male characters have big shoulders and just look like talking highlighters. Oh, and for season 1-2 up to the end of the trial, it takes place in a whole MONTH. The fight scene between Persephone and Kronos is such a let down. For fucks sake it took 6 Deities to take him down yet Mary Sue Persephone is able to do it in such a short time! Hell, considering season 3 so far with Persephone "wanting to take things slow and not marry quickly" is so retconned with the current chapter of being proposed to. 4 DAYS. In fact, Hera insisted on some lavish wedding despite that Persephone wanted to sign some papers. And this is LO Hera who had an affair with HADES for many years who is her husband's brother. She's basically putting her dead dreams on Persephone to form a life of what could have been with a man that outgrew her. And yet the FANDOM believes that Demeter was the one forcing Perse into a life she never had. If I had to describe Hades in this webtoon, he's literally a blue Ned Fulmer. He cheats with his partner in a workplace environment and doesn't respect boundaries since he can't keep his dick in his pants. The resemblance is so uncanny it's bizarre how this is supposed to be a *feminist* retelling.

@JulyBaby Жыл бұрын
@@thatsevelynbby2234 Okay, the main problem with her being a Mary Sue is because when it comes to her even having a sort of flaw, it inevitably gets turned around into a positive and not overcoming them they never really truly overcome that obstacle. In LO, the narrative basically bends over backwards to accommodate the main character at the expense of changing the way the other characters act. Glorifying the character is prioritized over maintaining established characterizations or the rules of reality. There's a difference between being the hero of a story versus being the center of the universe. As a result, she never really has a good supporting cast. Essentially, the story sacrifices itself to make the character look good instead of making it a well rounded story with other characters and character interactions that don't center around them.

I am a big fan of mythology so I was super excited when I heard about this, start it was kind of boring but give it a chance in the middle is really good but currently it is one of the hottest pieces of garbage there is it has such a lazy writing the charm of all the original characters and art style is completely gone because there is like 5000 different character names and designs you have to memorize that are “clearly different they are exactly 2 shades apart 🤓” I can’t remember anyone anymore I can’t even tell if Persephone and Hades are Persephone and Hades or some new God I have to memorize, This webtoon had such amazing charm I loved it a lot and it was a new twist on one of my favorite Greek myths and arguably the best Greek mythological couples, and then it became hot garbage, It’s clear the author has given up on the story and doesn’t want to write any more fault or has no new ideas also a recommendation for the next video is lookism. really good at it started off amazing right now it’s still amazing but it’s just changed so much it went from a real life perspective on how much we judge people based on their looks in a high school setting to a fighting action webtoon in a gang setting, in my opinion I’m still obsessed but i’d like to see yours Edit: I know in Greek mythology the relationship is pretty messed up but you have to look at some of the others Zeus I don’t even have to explain but if I will explain his relationship with Hera and why it’s wrong in the first place even without all his cheating I’m pretty sure the original myth states that he transformed into an animal and tricked Hera into marrying him and by the way Hera is his sister‘s Poseidon‘s wife is only married to him to fulfill his sexual tendencies so that he didn’t get too mad Hephaestus and Aphrodite were only married so the other gods wouldn’t in fight over Aphrodite or try to r@pe her over sexual tendencies, Ares and Aphrodite we’re literally a cheating couple most Greek couples were pretty messed up and in the end Hades didn’t end up cheating on Persephone and Persephone only ended up cheating on Hades once I say in result the ate the least toxic relationship

I don't disapprove given who questionable it is that Demeter was helicopter parenting Persephone in the og myth while the other olympian goddesses weren't and the fact she'd rather let the world starve to death rather then accept her daughter's absence or y'know, rescue her. I do disapprove when they go that route and do it horribly with zero context for Demeter's behavior.
@Yuckycarrot Жыл бұрын
Exactly, when the story was made Persephone was considered a tragedy. During ancient times all around the world including Greece it was normal for women to be kidnapped and become the wives of their kidnappers and it was normalized. The story talks about a young woman who was kidnapped to become the wife of the death god, where she would be separated from everything she knows and loves. Demeter is extremely upset and tries to break it off to protect her daughter but fails, but ends up seeing her a few months of the year after causing trouble for mortals and the gods. I see it as a progressive ancient story of a mother and daughter and the troubles of their time. The story of Persephone could explore mother daughter relationships and a young woman entering a toxic relationship with a man who is manipulative and low key abusive trying to leave the relationship or trying to “fix” the relationship while her mother tries to convince her to break it off or Hades tries his best to keep her in the relationship with threats of self harm and manipulation which would lead to conflict between Demeter and Hades. It could have a modern take but in the original story Hades is not a good guy, quite the opposite.

Then again it’s not unusual for romance comics with female protags to completely ignore that gay men exist for the sake of making everyone a love interest. That or they make characters gay as a weakness or to make strong women appear more masculine or slim guys feminine. At least with relationship comics with guy protags you know what you’ll get. No matter how weird it may get, it’s always shallow drama for the sake of a fanservice payout. It’s annoying but harmless. This shouldn't be praised or even be acknowledged by us, we have stooped so low we are happy about some weird straight fetish cause it includes gay stuff. Like I get the whole shame and disbelief aspect and how she can’t be forced by her mom into goddess celibacy now because she’s not a virgin but her mom also doesn’t know Persephone got raped because she’s told no one and blah blah blah. I think Hera sussed it out like right away but didn’t do anything? Either way, Lore Olympus did my man Apollo dirty. Was he a perfect lover? No, he literally chased a girl until she became an tree to escape him. But he’s not the type of guy in the actual mythology to rape someone (at least not while they’re sleeping/if he has it’s not as much as someone like Zeus), in my humble opinion of course. Also they constantly infantilize Persephone and it’s really weird. Especially with the constant “joke” of characters bringing up how huge the age gap between Hades and Persephone is.

In general, Webtoons is oversaturated with romance. This isn’t to say that romance is bad, far from it. There’s been numerous fairly good to astounding romantic tales that genuinely gets me in the heart. But it’s definitely becoming a bit tiresome to see that most of the promoted material is, by and large, romance. And in a similar vein to isekai in manga, a lot of the plots are rehashed, retold, and recycled enough that if you read one, you’ve read a dozen. It’s a shame too since there’s a lot of really good, really underrated webtoons that are placed under the radar since they’ve never got the spotlight it deserves. I’m talking genuine _masterpieces_ that are pushed under the rug to make way for the next “I became the novel’s new wife and am going to break my husband’s legs.” And while there’s nothing _wrong_ with enjoying these romances (unless the romance is pushing a fairly destructive/toxic narrative that you’re agreeing with), but goodness gracious, we need more diversity in the genres.

Firstly, I did not expect it to be a romance “fanfic” of Hades and Persephone(the name of the webtoon caught me off guard) and honestly I wasn’t tempted to continue it at all. When I did try to force myself into getting into it it took me great strength to not fall asleep while reading it. The writings imo are boring asf and I really didn’t get the hype at all. It seems to me just like any other mid romance webtoon. I’m not going to make any comments on Hades and Persephone’s relationship in the myths but it is 100% not accurate at all. Best tip is probably that they should’ve just made it into a normal romance webtoon with ‘normal people’ instead of making it into a “fanfiction” of Greek mythology characters.

It was also representative of young brides being sold off to their husbands. They couldn’t exactly say ‘no’ to an arranged marriage in Ancient Greece. They were property. Persephone was a victim who was kidnapped and tricked to stay by Hades’s side. She was an allegory for all the women who were married off and never could go back home. It’s so sad to see people romanticise it and erase the cultural importance of this myth.

@@Aubergine_scum : no? Demeter was the feminist message of this whole myth. Hell this is her myth. ‘The Hymm to Demeter’ Hades tricked Persephone into eating the pomegranate seeds which caused her to forever be tied to the underworld. Sources: Persephone in the myth says this ‘Mother, I will tell you all without error. When luck-bringing Hermes came, swift messenger from my father the Son of Kronos [Zeus] (…) I sprang up at once for joy; but he secretly put in my mouth sweet food, a pomegranate seed, and forced me to taste against my will.‘ - Persephone to Demeter, Homeric Hymm to Demeter when recounting her kidnapping and forced marriage. Now heres where the feminist part comes from: Demeter fights by going into hiding and refusing to work. (Which basically means she went on strike) and in her grief caused famine. One source says she was r-ped by Poseidon around this time as well, just makes it sadder. Her famine causes Zeus to think ‘fuck’ because all the mortals are dying. He realises quick that he needs to stop her wrath so goes to retrieve Persephone and orders his sons (hermes and others) to get her back. However, due to persephone being tied to the underworld. She couldnt just leave. So the 6 month agreement was made. I honestly recommend you all to read this myth. Go to theoi . Com and go to Demeter’s section. You’ll find the hymm to Demeter AND all its variants. Guess what? Theres no variant where she went willingly or wasnt tricked. The myths seem consistent in this message. Both greek and roman versions state it was a kidnapping and forced marriage. And lemme tell ya, just cause Zeus arranged it doesnt mean Persephone wasnt forced into it. The way women were treated with no respect or autonomy was horrible in ancient greece. This is why Demeter has my full respect.
@americaeaustraliaepius4338 Жыл бұрын
@@viridia1526 That's a terrible take on the myth. Also filled with presentist BS. The main point of the myth is not the romance nor the relationship, but the death of Persephone, which is never stated but it's implicit in the story, that's what it represents that she's taken to Hades' domain. It means she's dead, and goes around the grief of Demeter for not being able to bring her daughter back, which is a reflection of death and grief. Again, it's about the trascandence of the soul after death, not about a relationship, or marriage, or anything like that.

@Panida6006 Жыл бұрын
I politely disagree, to say that Hades is not a bad guy in comparison to his brothers is not true. The Gods are all morally grey and they are neither good nor bad, they commit good and bad deeds, yes, but to apply the human-imposed concept of black and white morality of a good or bad onto them is 2-dimensional. Hades kidnapped a young girl from a mother and although he was given the go-to by Zeus, he could have chosen not to commit the deed yet Hades STILL chose to abduct a young Kore/Persephone from Demeter and even tricked the girl into eating the pomegranate seeds, which is why she is forced to stay with him for half of the year, she didn’t choose to stay with him. There’s even a Roman statue called “The Rape of Proserpina” and though the statue and the myth itself is more accurately called The ABDUCTION of Persephone/Proserpina… you get the idea. Tldr; Hades isn’t a bad guy, he isn’t good either, for abducting a girl from her mother. The myth is more about a mother’s grief over the loss of her daughter to a male stranger.

I disagree, in ancient times even in Greece it was a common occurrence for women to be kidnapped and become their brides and it was normalized. The story of Persephone was written for its time, it was considered a tragedy. About a young girl being kidnapped to become the wife of Hades, Demeter was super upset and tried to break off the marriage but it did not work, it was progressive for it’s time. So Hades doesn’t cause women to die and cheat but he doesn’t care about consent at least in the original story. Many turn Hades into a good guy when he isn’t, he’s just the least bad of his brothers. Many miss the opportunity to write a story about complex and toxic relationships, but that’s my opinion.

It’s the fact that this story was originally supposed to be about just Persephone and Hades, but now it’s about ALL the gods. I cant

I’m actually surprised on how many things the manga idk got wrong on the actual story, like Aphrodite and Persephone never actually had anything to do with each other and Hades met Minthe after the whole hades and Persephone thing was over. Minthe was turned into mint (the plant) after Persephone cursed her btw. And Hades was the one who kidnapped Persephone. I still seriously can’t believe how much this manga got wrong with the actual myth story. Persephone is the god of spring, since Demeter loved her and after she was taken away by hades, Demeter did not grow things so. When Persephone with Demeter = spring & summer + fall or autumn (maybe) and Persephone with Hades = Winter ofc

Personally I think Persephone and Minthe should both be green since Minthe = mint and Persephone is the goddess of spring

01:53 For the record, Hades administers the underworld and the souls of the dead. He's not Death - that would be Thanatos. And for the record, out of all of the Hellenic Gods, Hades is one of the nicest and most reasonable ones. And, unlike Zeus, Hades is loyal to his wife.
@plugshirt17624 ай бұрын
Yeah Hades always gets a bad wrap because people can't comprehend the underworld isn't hell due to how horrible translations of the Bible are that translate Hades and tartarus both to hell interchangeably alongside two other terms neither of which mean the traditional idea of hell either.

So, I’m a very active reader of lore Olympus and I honestly do like it! But I do completely understand why people do not like it! I actually laughed alot during this video but the story is just nice to read for me and it’s a good time killer. I’m just a person who really likes romance stories and I love Greek mythology. Of course I know that this retelling isn’t true from the actual thing. The one thing I don’t like is that Demeter is portrayed as a controlling mom. I think she should be a great mom to Presphone like in the myth but maybe have some dramatic moments with Hades. I also believe that she is just there to be evil to make Hades look better which is completely wrong. Again, I’m still reading this series just to see where it goes and in the newer episodes Demeter and Presphone make up and stuff so that’s good I assume. But anyways that’s my little rant

fun fact: when persephone was with hades in mythology, and when she found out hades used to be with minthe, persephone brutally murdered her
@yourstarlight83856 ай бұрын
Actually, Minthe came to Persephone and said that she wants to be with Hades, that's why Persephone turn her into mint(that doesn't justify Persephone, but still)

🙄 It's because the Greeks were to afraid to mention him and Persephone. Which gives the idea that they must be in a "healthy" relationship compared to other gods.

i really wanted to like this webtoon bc the art is so cool and unique and while i love greek mythology, i don't really mind different takes on it as long as it's done well or has a reason to do so. but i just couldn't get past how the main character is supposed to be physically 19 being "romanced" by her physically old man boss. The webtoon tries to seem like they tackle real world problematic issues, like with apollo, but it's all surface level since hades is like just as bad it's just written in a way that makes it seem ok. And the author/fans have tried to combat the problematic aspects by saying that original greek mythology has way worse things or it's technically accurate, which i might have bought if the author didn't drastically change so much of said mythology while deciding to keep the weird age gap.

I never read this but I remember back in the day, everyone was hyping this up saying the writing is amazing and that the artstyle was unique and the relationship was wholesome, etc. I'd never thought that I would see the opposite happening now lol

Hades being portrayed in modern media as evil is the most stupid shit ever, The only god that didn't fuck over someone's live because petty reasons or i don't know, raping thousands of woman and having your wife curse them to be immortal and suffering *ahem* Zeus
