What a trooper. Petula Clark had a sensational voice, and most everything she sang was pleasing. I might add she was a beautiful woman. She was a highlight of the 60's and 70's.

We had our friends sing this at our wedding 30 years ago, while they practiced they said it was boring, slow etc.... but they did such a fantastic job for us, with so many compliments. Only to have the same song sung at their wedding a few years later. I guess there IS LOVE.

I went to numerous weddings of high school friends in the 1970s. I swear "everyone" had this song. After the 5th time, I really grew tired of it. In the early 1980s, I saw Peter, Paul and Mary in concert. At about the half way mark, they come out individually and do two or three songs. Paul Stookey came on stage and sang his song. I finally realized what a remarkable song it was and then understood why I heard it so many times in the 70s.

This is a BIBLICAL wedding song. Taken right from the SCRIPTURES. 🔥📖🕊💞 Marriage is the most important image of the oneness of Wo/man. and signifies the oneness of the two. Beautiful song, and I wish I had that sung at my wedding in 1973. I kept those vows till death did us part. Now I have a vow to the Lord to stay in covenant with Him. Mary MacGregor covered the song in 1978; her version reached #81 on the Top 100 {#23 on Billboard's Easy Listening chart}... Ms. Clark will celebrate her 82nd birthday next month on November 15th {2014}...
