I want Hunter to "challenge" his brother! (He needs not to take a back seat) Maybe he's being too nice. (Maybe he needs a life coach - that could help him at least challenge his little brother). Might make things interesting! He shouldnt just feel like he's regulated to 2nd place all the time.

We all love a close race, but Jett's talent is undeniable. I'm excited to see the legends challenge him and I'll be psyched to see him keep his streak going. He deserves all his wins and its been incredible to see him hold up under the pressure while the veterans work harder than ever to beat him.
@scott729 Жыл бұрын
I first noticed the drop-off in Jett support after he raced by himself during MXON at Redbud. Meaning zero competition. We didn't know then, but it was a preview to what we are seeing now. I am 56 yo and have been watching MX since the late 1970's.... Jett is the best I've seen, and it is not close. I posted a similar comment on another channel/ video, so I won't duplicate it, but Jett does things that others either won't, or more likely, can't do. Pretty amazing rider and I will always be in his corner because he is just as good of a human being.

This. You brought tears to my eyes. 😅 I've been cheering the Lawrence brothers on from the start and thrilled they're doing so well. I was holding my breath since Tomac is my #1 and had a crisis of ... oh no! ... last weekend. I wanted to see more fight. And hopefully, we'll still get that. But this "circle of racing" was perfectly said. It's something you know, but it can be so hard to accept! Well said!

Awesome segment Weege. I knew this was coming (most did I'm sure). But here is the thing about Jett. Like JS and MC and JMB, he is simply a joy to watch. Forget everything else, he is poetry on two wheels, its art with him. There is something transcendent about a rider like that.
@timburks3806 Жыл бұрын
I have to agree with you. Jett is different. He rides so much different than anybody else, and he is beyond smooth. What we are seeing here is greatness in action. Sure, somebody is going to beat him(maybe), but until that happens, I love watching him race. It's like he is floating around the track. Until Hunter gets going and new blood moves up, I don't see anybody beating him.
@dogfacejay Жыл бұрын
1 thing you didn't factor in is his nationality. Australians fully embrace their athletes, especially when they race in America. Americans don't like to have their home athletes beaten...on their soil. I think that is about 20% of the Lawrence Brother haters. They boo Jett for winning and then laugh at Hunter for not making the main in A1. I've heard "wait til ET3 gets back!" And "Deegan will crush him when he moves up!" That is cringe.

The simplest way to prove the point that Jett is disliked by some fans is because he’s not from the US is this… Jett has won 5 straight titles (6 with SMX) and people say he is overhyped. Deegan has not won a single SX main and people are saying he is the next best thing. He possibly could be but… Jett is a proven champion many times over and is constantly criticised yet Deegan is pumped up and he has proven nothing. Yes he won SMX but he won it because Hunter was injured, not based on wins etc. yes it’s a part of racing but you can’t compare them.

BRAVO Weege for taking this on👍 It becomes easier when you aembrace that Johnny-O has his fingerprints all over these insane performances. The O-Show was our Hero growing up at Dunes watching him ascend and trying to grab his gate positions in our 125 motos every Friday night & Sunday. His soft spoken champion DNA is certainly infused in these two Ozzy helmsmen. Sure there’s sizzle & showmanship as marketing dollars rush in this is inevitable and to be expected. And here lies the Ozzy vs USA cultural conundrum. In USA we weren’t raised with Tall Poppy Syndrome. We actually do want to dominate & actually destroy the competition.. The Ozzy spirit is energized & inspired by this and when natural talent rises to eclipse aspirations a new competitor is born. No matter how tough or brash these two come off there’s always a good laugh a chick-o-roll some Tim Tams and the piss being taken at home to keep guiding the ship keeping them grounded. So let the SHOW begin and may the best man win.. that day, that MOTO, that LAP⚡️

Brilliant Weege. This is THE take. Balanced, measured, insightful. I remember the Ricky transition. Chad. James. Even when Dunge made his rookie run. Always the same tension. I think a lot of the pushback is from all of the outlets asking "Can Jett win every round?". Cleary a silly question after 1 race. That's the type of thing you ask with 3-4 rounds left. He is undoubtedly one of the most talented guys out there. He did win outdoors. But as we all know indoors is a different animal. Moving up to 450 in indoors is also a different animal. It's a valid question, just not time to ask it yet.

Our sport is absolutely one of the best in the world.

You would need to be fairly unevolved as a person or relatively new to motorsport to be in anyway bothered/shocked/rejecting of Jetts recent run of form. Progression is the name of the game and you can’t hold back the tide on that. My take would be Jett wins everything for at least the next 4 years. Maybe he loses in year 5, comes back and wins a further 3 or 4 years in a row. Most of the GOATS top out at 6/7 titles. Valentino Rossi, Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, Jeremy Mcgrath, Marc Marquez His success at this point is literally just down to his level of motivation, if he is hell bent on beating RC’s and JMG’s records he has the talent to do it. Great video Weege!

I love Jett for what he has done and will do for our motorsport. Bringing in more fans from across the world. The King and RC are amazing also Bubba. The past 7-8 years have been amazing for fans because no particular rider has dominated. This has lead to a gate drop in the premier class with a number of champions the sport has never seen. That being said I suppose I'll be disappointed If Jett rains champion for 5 or more seasons. We've seen this before and one of my largest motivations will be to watch Jett be dethroned. What a glorious day that will be (We'll be watching). I wish him a safe career but I'll be rooting for any underdog rather than Jett. He is an amazing talent and a pleasure to watch, I know greatness when I see it. So best of luck to him and his goals of 72+ wins .
@Sh1tstir Жыл бұрын
Best take on this ive heard so far. Every rider should be marketing themselves to 1. Grow the sport and 2. Grow there income. Take Deegan for example 2023 one of the most talked about riders and while his results were good but they wernt exceptional yeah he won smx but if you look at his entire season he had 2 round wins only now if his marketing wasn't at the level it is, would we have spoken about him as much probably not he would get mentioned due to his rookie season etc but not to the extent he was. To be honest Max Anstie had a much better season in SX being on a privateer team finishing 1 point out of second place, but outside of his podium interviews wasn't spoken much about why? Becuase his marketing wasn't as strong and just where Anstie came from and what he was riding was actually a much better story in my opinion...... Yeah Max some people see you dude👍🤘🤘👍

I didn't even heard of Haiden untill on the broadcast. I don't like the youtube/instagram/unsocialmedia, but after 2 races you had to admit it was not just a hype. Max Versappen at he age of 17 at F1 is fun to see. He was not very Hyped, instead many dissaproved the age in the F1. Now the rules don't alow people under 18 anymore in the F1 and more rules are changed most likely because of Max Versappen. If you are borred it's fun to watch a video on that.

@@themotocrosslounge8697 He just did an undefeated rookie season out doors and won SMX, probably would have gone 1-1 in Des Nations if not for a first turn crash race one. Do you expect them to say he will be mediocre? They are paid to push the hype guys. If the other guys want this kind of talk they just need to elevate. Im not mad at the fans pushing back, I just think it is sad to deny him accolades because of stuff other people are saying about him, he never once said he will go undefeated. Just that the record is on his mind, you must aim high, anyone aiming for top 5 will never be great. Vocalizing that he has high expectations of himself got him in trouble smh

That just makes the ones coming up next work even harder to try and beat that guy. Ofcourse we all love seeing great battles, like the reed/js7/rc battles, but personally I love watching someone, especially someone so young, come in and just obliterate the field and make you question if they are even human and how it’s even possible to go that fast and do it while making it look so effortless.

No one likes to see their heroes fall. Riders are cyclical, and so are their fans. Eventually everyone will be cheering for Jett when the next big guy comes up. But I have a feeling we are in for another mid/late 2000's. We are seeing a change in the way the riders perform in the sport and soon someone will catch up, or come up that has the same drive and talent. Or maybe he'll just get old. It's going to happen. And we'll repeat that circle. Jett is a good rider, and a pretty good kid. Just like you said though, no one wants to be able to predict the outcome of their sport. I'll cheer for the old men, as I too am an old man. I'll revel at the grace and speed of the young men, as I wish I was as nimble. And I'll dream of what the future holds for this sport, as I remember just how far it's come.

We we’re bummed and bitter because of the injury’s our favourite riders faced and we didn’t want to hear it (damn Weege you gotten every point) We just want the stacked field come to life and have a good championship until the Jett Domination or allure will ensue and break records like the greats. *Jett* good for the sport, I've been here from *McGrath* era on. The closest I can compare is *Stewart* (who himself said he's going after those *72* wins.) But he was dominant *125* indoors & out The media pundits have sounded more like the *Alessi (Believe The Hype)* era. It would be one thing if we were 5Rds in & *Jett* winning everything then you could talk about undefeated *SX* season etc. But nobody talked like this about *Reed* when he won the last *6* races of his *2003* rookie year against the *GOAT.* Or *RV* but he was going up against *Reed & Stewart* all of whom would get hurt in *2010* allowing *Dungey* to rise to the top. Then came *Eli* in *2017* winning *9* races the most of any season & lost the title . There was no hype that he was going to become the next *McGrath* because like you said you never know what will happen. There's so much to compliment *Jett* on for what he's doing & accomplished there's no reason to overhype what he's not yet even attempted to do. When he's won one race yes it was *A1* but *Carmichael, Dungey & Webb* have NEVER won *A1* & have *11* championships🏆

the problem with Jett is that it is very similar to watching RC prior to JS7 moving up.....its boring when someone holeshots every race and disappears. We've been spoiled by the Tomac era in SX as thru the years he seldom holeshot so we watched him come thru the pack. He didn't always make thus other people won races. This made SX fun and exiting to watch. Tomac was the same in the outdoors as we waited for beast mode. What we saw at A1 was only fun to watch if you care about who finishes second. Last year I changed the channel a couple of time when Jett got in the lead. There's really no one coming up to compete with Jett so its REALLY going to get boring. I'm really hoping for Sexton to figure it out but every time he does he crashes.....

I have never been a fan of Team Honda and that goes back to the 80’s when they bought the best riders and spent the most money on building works bikes. I don’t have a problem with Jett winning every race. I would just like to see him be challenged a little.

I am with you. I am a root for the underdog fan as well.

Jett and Hunter are great competitors and it's always the guy smoking the othet guys people don't like. I Love the Lawrence Brothers we need multiple Nations top talent to race in America or we aren't the best in the World. Jett is the Best in the World right now and I appreciate the level of Talent Racing in America.

I'll be happy if anyone besides Jett wins

I'd say the pipeline with younger riders will keep jett from getting the 72 wins. Pretty much the whole point of the vid. Thanks Weege!

I think why a lot of people love Tomac is he rarely got the whole shot, but would put in charges to take the lead. It made the sport exciting. This is what made the last couple years exciting to be a fan. With Jett, the most exciting race outdoors was when Roczen raced. Other than that it was pretty boring. When the story line is Jett is going to win every race, why watch.

I’m 100% Eli Tomac I was 100% John Tomac before that. But I can’t hate on Jett. His technique is better, and he’s the only one on the gate who’s not running 10/10s every lap. It might be boring but it’s an absolute privilege to watch Jett nail the start, gap the field, hold it, and then win by 10 seconds running 7/10s. Father Time remains undefeated. 🤷🏻♂️
