So I've seen a few people commenting about the calender - so I said I'd pin a comment here and hopefully answer any questions regarding it: I had a section in the video about the calendar which I cut for time, but essentially I don't think Mike gets paid on a Friday. Mike gets his Night 1-5 Paycheck on November 12th, which in 1989 was a Sunday. The overtime check is received on November 13th, which in 1989 was a Monday. Mike is paid $120 for 30 hours of work (Night 1-5) and $120.50 for overtime. Mike works both Night 6 AND Night 7, which would mean he's paid a little over double time for his weekend work. A lot of companies and banks in the US don't process payment earned on a weekend until the following week, so paying employees on the following Monday to account for both Saturday and Sunday makes more sense than paying them for one night of overtime at a time. In FNAF 2, the dates on the check are the same, which I genuinely think is a mistake on FNAF 2's part. The paychecks are copy-pasted from the first game, with only the year and dollar amount changed. We can safely assume Jeremy would also work a Monday to Friday shift (as Ralph does in TWB) so why then would he be paid for Monday to Friday on Thursday, and his Saturday overtime be paid IN ADVANCE on Friday? That's just not how overtime works. As said in the video, date maths can get muddled sometimes so if I'm missing anything here please correct me!

I've had a theory I've been cooking up for years, based on multiple other peoples work, trying to tie things together and put together the pieces. But the book kind of messed it all up so I don't know if it's completely ruined or just needs tweaking. Vanzolin has a video that touches on a decent chunk of it, albeit rushing over some parts and focusing too much on a sub theory that's debunked now. He was the only one to take up the offer before this book

@UnwitheredTruth3 ай бұрын
I have a section about it in my upcoming Sister Location video, but I think as a community we sometimes tend to look past the fact that Scott is a flesh and blood man working as a storyteller, crafting a world bit by bit - not a 12th Level Intellect puzzle maker with a fully fleshed out timeline from start to end which he is letting us peer into. I would put money on it that before Tales from the Pizzaplex, the Mimic never impacted the story, before Sister Location, Baby never existed, and before FNAF 4, the Bite of 83 was not a consideration, etc. etc. These elements, such as Circus Baby's, which now are integral parts of the timeline, were fabrications at the time of their introduction. Now, I'm sure there are certain things Scott has in mind and wants to introduce, and may even hint to in preceding games/books - but every time a new piece of FNAF media releases, we have to consider what IT is telling us in context of what came before - and the unfortunate thing is, is that we can't take everything as 100% flawless information that fits perfectly. A lot of the understanding and rearranging of information falls to us - so to dismiss the idea of mistakes or holes or narrative dissatisfaction existing will mean we can never figure out what the intention actually is. To view things as best we can through the eyes of a storyteller, and try to consider what new information is intended to reveal, is the only way to determine the truths of the timeline. Edit: Geez, sorry for such a long reply. TLDR: I agree and thanks for watching 😂

@@UnwitheredTruth Having just caught up with some more recent GT videos about Fnaf lore something stuck out to me: When presenting the theory that before even Fredbear's Diner there was a circus as the origin of the characters and the animatronics, MatPat brings up a line from Fnaf 3(?), about the temporary replacement suits brought in after the springlock ones are decommissioned. It's only a throwaway gag about "deflecting any questions of the appropriateness of the costumes" since they were "found on short notice", but Mat makes it sound like Scott somehow hinted at the 'secret traveling circus/3-clown-robot act' at the heart of fnaf way back in game 3. I think this lies at the heart of the issue: Both theorists like Mat and Scotty C himself need the audience to buy into "The Lore", or rather into the idea that this is all planned out and eventually all the pieces will neatly fit together. I think this has unduly colored people's perspective on just how much of the lore Scott makes up as he goes along, much like most any other author would. I've seen this a number of times in the Souls lore community which can suffer from the same "auteur complex". Also loved the video, subbed and looking forward to more!

I still think 1992 for the following reasons. 1. The Godfather 3 reference. That’s from December 1990, putting 1991 as our earliest year. 2. 1991-1996 is the original money range Matpat gave back in the day 3. Another channel did a money analysis using clues from Survival Logbook and said most evidence pointed to either 1992 or 1993. 4. The Calender. 5. Lethal Weapon 3 came out in 1992. The wording implies more than 2 movies. 6. The Simpsons Episode with the opening scene about Skinner being bothered by two lawyers for using “The Happiest Place on Earth” as a Disney trademark aired in October 1992. And it’s a pretty iconic scene. Scott could very well be referencing this scene and not the actual legal date. If Ralph had watched it new, he would have seen it less than two weeks ago when TWB occurs.

Fnaf1 takes place in 1993, the detail that the author of this video missed is that 1989-1990 actually marks the year the Fnaf1 Location Opened. I explain this in my comment
@GendoRokabundi4 ай бұрын
Phone guy said he was going to take over the night shift for the FNAF2 location. But the location shuts down completely instead. So there would be some time before a new location is opened. His working the night shift was, like it’s described in the book, a result of a recent opening for the position. But the time it would take to start up a new location and fix up all the withered animatronics, hiring a new night guard wouldn’t be a problem. Ralph talks about employee reaction to the bite of ‘87 for example, so there was some period of him continuing to work the day shift at the new location. This is first referenced on page 29 during night one. The second on page 166, when Ralph put a stop to those rumours and won employee of the month. So, there was a period of time with employees at Freddy’s between the closure of 1987 and the week before. Ralph is a 22 time employee of the month, which is 5 more times than Dave, so thats another 17 months, over three years between just two employees. As hear in FNAF 2, he isn’t actually that aware of Fredbear’s Diner. Multiple times it’s referenced he has worked for Fazbear Entertainment for years and that he was proud when they hired him, meaning the company was already in operation. He has been doing daytime security for years, a “many good years of your life” His daughter referencing Fredbear isn’t necessarily her knowing the character, but an indication that her dreams are being haunted (similar to how Oswald draws the animatronics before becoming aware of them). Ralph specifically can’t remember the year the first Freddy’s opened. Page 125, Ralph notes that whole sections of the building have been closed off over the years, or expansions abandoned before completion. So for the current location to have had these kinds of changes over time, would mean the current building had been in operation for years. And it’s clearly not the fnaf 2 location. So either it’s had a number of failed reopenings or it’s an old Freddy’s location (presumably the original). The years of old grease in the vents are another sign of how old the building is. He also talks of Foxy singing on stage before being banished to Pirate Cove, which would either be before FNAF2 (in which case, the bite of 87 isn’t the only reason why he’s banished there), or it’s an event that occurred at the new location. Finding the treasure coin, Ralph notes that the Cove has been off limits since the pizza place reopened.
@GendoRokabundi4 ай бұрын
For Ralph to own a sega genesis in November of 1989, he’d be one of the earliest adopters, getting one only months after the initial release in the US. The never bringing Copellia “here” doesn’t contradict her going to a Freddy’s location at age 7, it just means the current location is not the one she was at. That does close the gap to 89-91 as a time frame, but we also don’t know if there were any other reopenings or locations.

@signalwalid25trainz504 ай бұрын
Mangle is an employee nickname as she been dismantled so often where as the customers including Ralph would call it by character name "Foxy"
@Pechugo833 ай бұрын
Well I'm pretty sure that the only character we can outright confirm didn't cause the bite is Mangle, even before any books or even games, just by pure logic. You see, in fnaf 1 the very reason for which the bite is even brought up is that, because of it, the animatronics are no longer on free roam mode during the day. This means that the cause for the bite would necessarily need this mode and disabling it would solve the problem. Now, Mangle is very much in contact with the customers. Other animatronics are set on a stage, elevated and away from them (aside from puppet but, no jaws and no teeth). Unlile these, Mangle is in fact so much in contact with kids that it became, well, Mangled. So purely by logic, had it been Mangle, why the hell would the reasonable safety measure taken be stopping her (along with everyone else) from being able to walk freely? How would that solve the problem? It has nothing to do with the bite, as she could've bitten them anytime they came near her to play. Any other "stage" animatronic given the ability to walk around and cause a bite would make sense: if they cant touch people, they cant bite people TL;DR: the bite couldnt have been caused by any animatronic already inteded to be in contact with characters, Mangle being one of them

I'm not sure this applies because Scott has never been THAT precise with his lore, but while the Sega Genesis released in 1989, it is highly unlikely a random low income family would have gotten it in that time frame. Sega had very very little brand presence at the time. Nintendo had over 95% market share. It wasn't until Sonic the Hedgehog's release in 1991 when the Genesis really became pop culture worth referencing. The Genesis cost $189 at launch in 1989, and we know how well Freddy's pays. As I said, I'm not sure this applies. Just because its unlikely for the reference to apply in real life doesn't mean that's not what Scott intended. But if you run into someone who loved the Genesis as a kid in real life, odds are EXTREMELY HIGH that it happened after 1989.

In one of deleted loading screens there was a trivia piece which said that a certain menu item was the most popular among customers based off of surveys that Fazbear entertainment was doing in 1989! That loading screen stuck with me because there’s no way a business like Freddy’s would be doing surveys if they had no locations open especially since Fnaf 2 location shut down in 1987. So I always thought that Fnaf 1 location must have at least existed in 1989. Glad to see a theory on this date. If you enjoyed the video be sure to respond with what you think in the comments! Agree or disagree - I wanna know. Some things I decided not to include in the video but thought were interesting discussion points: • There's actually a third glitch I cut out of the video for time - on Night 3, you can get stuck in an infinite loop of going into the backroom, grabbing a flashlight, escaping Foxy, and starting over. Another example of this book's poor quality assurance. • The paychecks in FNAF 1, based on our knowledge of Ralph's working week, line up with Monday to Friday in 1989, assuming we're paid on Sunday for Nights 1-5 and on Monday of the following week for nights 6 & 7. The reason we'd do this is based on the amount of overtime Mike is paid. If it's only for Night 6, Mike is paid more than 30 hours of work for one 6 hour shift. However, if he works both Night 6 & 7, he's only getting a little over double his hourly for overtime. Again, cut for time. • There's an argument to be made for the book to be set ELEVEN years after FNAF 2, with the Page 44 voicemail referencing Ralph's FNAF 2 phone call. He couldn't take the night shift after the reopening and now it's eleven years later and Ralph FINALLY takes the job. However, this seems so contradictory to everything else we read in the book. There's the reference to Freddy's refurbishment, "lingering" bad press from the Bite of 87 - and if we consider this true, this is set recently after some UNKNOWN second closure between FNAF 2 and FNAF 1. While I understand the logic in parts - it seems far more likely that the "couldn't take the night shift" line was originally intended to tell us Ralph had a different role in all the other prequels. • I'm expecting some people to be mad that I'm using Circus Baby as imagery for the "springlock failure" which gets Fredbear retired - sue me. Sister Location 100% is intended to be THE "sister location" referenced in the FNAF 3 calls. I wanna make a video about that... or maybe a short.

I always took the idea of “they repaired them to their original designs” referring to how the FNAF 1 animatronics now look more like the “original” characters (the fnaf 2 withereds) rather than their most recent iteration prior, the toy animatronics. I honestly can’t see a reason why the withered designs would need to be retconned, is there any other info to support this?
@UnwitheredTruth4 ай бұрын
@@justin_boudreau Ohh very interesting point... Honestly, the Withereds are my favourite designs (can you tell?) and the Unwithereds have always been such a cool idea to me so I'd love for that to be true. I hadn't considered that he may be referring to the Toy Animatronics. I've said for years that the Withereds are SURELY canon visuals as they literally appear alongside the classics in FNAF 3 and UCN. That being said, my reasoning comes from him saying "restored" which made me think he was talking about THIS animatronic's refurbishment after FNAF 2. There's also the Foxy thing in this video AND the fact the UCN Fredbear looks SO like Classic Freddy, but from writing this comment I've actually found ANOTHER piece of evidence which is quite compelling so I thinking I'm going to turn that into a Short. Thanks for the idea, I'll definitely credit you!

@stmp41603 ай бұрын
It's probably a throwaway line, the twenty years one, because if we took that into account it would place FNAF 1 at the Least in 2003, since Freddy Fazbear's as a company began in 1983(which again is unrealistic because the pizza place would not just get made the same year the company starts), with a more realistic placement being 2005(because of the 1985 MCI). It isn't Impossible but I don't really see it. All other indicators seem to point to earlier dates, such as with the pop culture references in this video. Though I disagree on him placing FNAF 1 in 1989. The Sega Genesis, whilst releasing in 1988, did not get popular till '91 with the release of Sonic. On top of that, in 1988 it cost around 180$, which I Really doubt Anyone would buy for his daughter with the income Freddy's provides. Even by '91 it cost like 150$, so I'd place FNAF 1 more reasonably at 1991+.

Getting the phone though, requires you to get the other 2 “the end” endings, before getting the mobile phone. If Ralph says those messages on his mobile phone, which it shows he does, which he got at the end of his shift, how on earth then does he suddenly restart with the mobile phone on night 1?

"When the place eventually opens again, I'll probably take the night shift myself" = "please take your paycheck and don't come back when this place reopens". Ralph issn't certain and is guessing, since he has worked with the company for a long time and knows their tendencies of trying to re-open, re-brand and re-launch again no matter what happened. Saying he'll "probably" that the nightshift is not him knowing anything for certain; but in the english-language these kinds of phrases are meant to discourage someone by making it sound like something is already taken care of. Ralph is implying on night 6 in FNAF2 that he's staying on with Fazbear no matter what and is assuming the company is not ending with the closure of this branch. And then, what he may be trying to do, as per company policy of never letting former employees in, is telling the player to move on with their life and not try to stick on or come back.

That's fair, though I would argue from a storytelling perspective, that line was DEFINITELY intended to be one of the major hints to us at the time that FNAF 2 was a prequel. The biggest confusion around FNAF 2 at the time was the fact Phone Guy was back after having seemingly croaked in the first game. However, interesting point, and I kinda like the characterisation that Ralph would try send someone AWAY from Freddy's (even though he seems pretty indoctrinated even by the start of The Week Before.

I love these ideas but I disagree with this as of now because: 1. Scott is bad at ages when it comes to continuity (as seen in the books where he messed up Charlie’s age), and this makes me doubt the “earlier draft” theory 2. A token in FNAF AR, while unused, mentioned 1993. Scott confirmed all unused tokens were canon 3. Fnaf 3, confirmed to have taken place in 2023, is thiry years after Fnaf 1/William being springlocked, thus 1993. 4. It is mentioned that Coppelia was sent to school after night 1 (November 1st), and after all five nights, however the fifth night she stayed home even though she was to be at school. So, November 1st was a Monday and November 5th was a Friday. This lines up with 1993 and 1999 4.5. The Disneyland copyright line “Most Magical Place on Earth” was copyrighted in…1998. 1999 is 12 years after 1987, when Fnaf 2 happened and when Phone Guy recorded those calls…so could Fnaf 1 take place in 1999? Again, not likely, because of 1-3 That said I could very much be wrong here, I’ll do some more digging. Edit: I do believe the unwithereds are real since “classic” was probably used loosely. I mean, they look similar to the FNAF 1 originals, just with a few differences. So reverting to the classic style was probably what was meant.

14:06 I want to point something out, the page here says "you don't remember." Instead of something like, 'you don't know,' meaning Ralph was supposed to know or was at least some point told the code. Remember, we are looking at Ralph's perspective, an employee of FNAF for years and the person who recorded those messages for location 2. But, I also think the page was left as a red herring to instill the honor system of the book. So, perhaps it was purposefully left unfixed to keep people following the rules. This would mean that Ralph was doing work for several locations then, and if he is such a Fazbear nut it would explain his daughter knowing the older models.

When he says he hasnt brought coppelia to freddys, he could be referencing that specific fredddys location, but we know phone guy worked at other freddys locations in the past

the fact that this neatly places fnaf 4, the mci, fnaf 2 and fnaf 1 all 2 years apart from each other is very neat

Clicked on this video and was excited to find another content creator with lots of FNAF content to see this is YOUR FIRST VIDEO?! This was insanely well done and researched. Looking forward to what else comes!

This was an awesome theory! I love how you cited everything and addressed the fallibility of the theory. I feel like acknowledging possible flaws is a sign of a really good theory in general, and you definitely convinced me! Looking forward to new theories from this channel.

theory is good, works pretty well, but there was a small error with when the MCI takes place, it takes place in late june, not july, but other than that. everything sill holds up

I know I'm late by a couple of days, but I clearly need to see this video in full instead of just listening to it at work. Initial view of the first three minutes was a good glimpse of your editing skills, but what caught my attention in terms of your ability to set the scene was the Suits recording from 3. Beautifully choreographed, nailing the dawning horror of what Spring Bonnie was used for with the art from Susie's minigame. I just wish I had something to contribute theory-wise to the discussion. Lol

On 22:34 you said that the MCI happens in July, but didn't the newspaper posters in FNaF 1 say that is happened in June?

That was a mistake, he meant June

THIS IS YOUR FIRST VIDEO WHAT-- I honest to god thought you were a theriost that you have been doing this for a long while and was gonna binge any other theories you had. Ive watched tons of theory videos in my past time and this really got my gears moving and tinkering. THIS this is what I like as a theory, its very compelling and would love for more people to cover this topic because It can very well set things into an interesting path that I would like to see. But for one, your definitely getting a sub and I'm looking forward to anymore videos you have up for debate. Very hopeful this video gets more traction with such good quality too of course.

This timeline nonsense, especially worrying about specific years and dates is really confusing for me even as someone who read the Week Before. Thanks for laying it out in a way that's easier to understand! I really like your style of content and hope you continue to make stuff like this.

Great theory. Although if im honest im not confident that a book (The Week Before) that has so many inconsistencies and contradictions has merit in pinpointing the year Freddy's opened. I really dont to think the authors put all the effort into this project

This is a fantastic theory. I’m not sure if I’ll want FNAF 1 in 1989, because that’ll aline FNAF 3 to be in 2019 given the 30 years from the description of the game. If this is possible, then that puts Into the Pit to be around 2018-2021 since the school flag is the old Utah flag until it was removed in 2024. But this would also make room for the whole Stitchwraith Stingers (if you even believe in Stitchline Games). I’m leaning towards 1993 more, I know people would stumble after me say I’m having a coping mechanism. But I think putting Coppelia’s age 7 in 1988 would line up with her being 11 1/2 in 1993. I’m putting her birth to be 1981, and given that you said she knows Fredbear and thus the Springlocks were used during the MCI, I want to bring up FNAF 2 for a specific reason. In FNAF 2, you can find a Golden Freddy drawing on your right in the game, and this makes me believe that the Springlocks were still used post-MCI (I know that sounds silly- but to me, it’s really weird to see why it’s put there). And if they did had the Springlocks post-FNAF 2 and the Springlock incidents occur, then it’ll make sense that Afton couldn’t use Spring Bonnie to kill more kids at Freddy’s and decide to make the Funtimes instead. Also, it’ll make sense that Coppelia would have some memory about Fredbear. With the 80s call back in the book, I have a feeling that Ralph and Coppelia are too nostalgic with the 1980s, which could build up to the terrible events of Freddy’s that happened around the 80s, it’s probably a coping mechanism that Ralph and Coppelia are dealing with. So I set up my personal timeline for The Week Before: 1981: Coppelia is born 1983: Ralph is hired by Henry for Freddy’s 1984: Golden Freddy becomes an established character. Springlocks become usable 1985: MCI occurs 1986: Freddy’s is rebuilt for the Grand Reopening 1987: FNAF 2 vice versa happens 1988: Ralph ends up creating a Logbook for future employees for Freddy’s; he then records the tapes for the Springlock rules, then Springlock Incidents occurs. Spring Bonnie is now in the safe room locked along with Golden Freddy. Afton now manipulates the animatronics to try to kill Ralph so that he can get the place to shut down. 1993: The Week Before occurs, leading by FNAF 1 But hey, feel free to disagree. I’m probably stuck with the 1993 thing hehe… but I’m still annoyed with the 1992 or 1998 argument. The 1992 thing sounds like a coincidence, and the 1998 argument feels off given how Disney had that tagline ever since 1955- so that counter-argues the 1998 argument. Anywho, it’s a great theory
