I thought the halftime show was good. I don't know what people want? The Weeknd put on a good show. I am 66 years old and I enjoyed it. Why do people have to be so negative? I just don't get it.

Many of the negative comments I've heard are from older football fans who don't relate to contemporary pop music, and haven't listened to a new musical act since 1980s. They want to hear AC/DC or the Rolling Stones.

im not sure i agree when you say "far superior singer" the weeknd can hold his own. I feel there is a real bias when it comes to anyone vs MJ. There will be better than MJ

You know there are only 3 E's (not 4) in 'The Weeknd', right? Fans of The Weeknd loved the show because they knew they were going to love it. Non-fans hated it because they knew they were going to. I guarantee there are people saying they hated the halftime show, who did not actually even watch it. BTW, I heard that the NFL is cheap and The Weeknd came out of pocked several million to produce that show.

His jacket was 40 lbs because it was real Ruby's all over it. Thats probably why hes not trying to dance

I didn't hate it. It just wasn't memorable at all. Not the worst, no where near the best.

Can you tell me another halftime performance at this musical or cinematographic level? From the last 10 years, I can only think of Bruno Mars one
@sggjose3 жыл бұрын
@@pulechon All of them, except maybe Coldplay and Maroon 5. The Who was good music, but I might peg it lower as far as the show goes. Major highlights with Shakira/JLo, Beyonce, JT, Lady Gaga, and Bruno Mars. A lot of music there that I don't personally listen to, but amazing shows. The Weeknd didn't feature any other artists, he didn't dance or have a spectacular choreography, the sound mix as terrible as he was barely audible. There's various factors that knock it down. Like I said, not the worst. Mediocre.
@pulechon3 жыл бұрын
@@sggjose come on, I like shakira and JT a lot.. but musically speaking they can't touch this peformance. I agree the choreography and the show was not as spectacular as others, but I think that's exactly the weeknd as an artist, giving focus to the voice, the concept of his songs and definitely the cinematography. We are just used to a different standard of what is a "good" show
@sggjose3 жыл бұрын
@@pulechon Of course! Everyone will have their opinion and that's fine. Again, I don't listen to any of those artists on a regular basis. Your argument for lyrics, even though I couldn't hear him clearly, is understood and appreciated. I can tell he's a good pop artist. Much better than many. However, I'm basing my opinion on the total package of what a Super Bowl performance is. Look at the bright side, assuming you're a fan, I had no clue who he was. Now I do.

Actually the fake buildings are the settings from his storyline from his latest album After Hours (which it came out last year) and I'm enjoyed his performance at the super bowl 🏈 this year, yes is not the best (not Beyonce or Lady Gaga or Katy Perry level) but is good performance and also he not copying MJ he inspired and influenced by him and react to more of him and his music 😉 👏👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾😌🖤❤💋🎤 and p.s. that song he singing is Save Your Tears and the dancers with bandages on their heads that the theme and continuing his storyline from his album After Hours

Intro is too long
@Kyprioth0713 жыл бұрын
The thing about The Weeknd is that he likes to tell a story. Most of his projects have a distinct intro and outro to it. Of course, his Super Bowl performance would do the same. I'm aware that it's not the same bombastic opening that many SB performances have, but he was determined to do in his own way. He has a way of subverting expectations.

He’s an untalented wannabe who has the audacity to use MJ’s moves and attempts at using MJ’s vocal skills. He even dressed similar to MJ. Worst halftime show in history. I can’t believe people will support someone who thinks he’s talented enough to steal from the King of Pop. He couldn’t even dance and sing at the same time. Sorry for ranting but if you don’t have it, dont try and imitate a legend. So disrespectful to MJ’s legacy.
@julie_endr3 жыл бұрын
That's stupid. He's inspired by Michael Jackson and said that he found his voice because of him. There's nothing wrong with it. The outfit is inspired by Robert de Niro from the movie Casino. His whole storyline is for his new album but you have no idea and your hate is unnecessary. Bye.
