@@93Nfinite well that has to do with rights. Abel doesn't own the right to can't feel my face, those belong to max martin. So he can't just scrap does records, its not his call. He just contributed lyrics to that song, composing and production royalties are for max martin. Thats why some song from BBTM aren't available on youtube in every country (like here in holland for example)

As a rock fan/musician since childhood, I discovered the Weeknd back in 2015 due to Earned It. I was on a tv talent show and one of the girls performed 'Earned It', I checked out the original and fell in love with the Weeknd. It's so awesome watching you discover Abels music mate, you're spot on with your opinions. The dark, claustrophobic, slightly schizophrenic, tragic and nostalgic infused NIN style stuff from Trilogy, unbelievably powerful. Though I still enjoy his more mainstream work, but crave that dark vibe he does so fucking well. Keep up the great work mate, absolute highlight of the day when you post a Weeknd reaction.

It just hit to me that the BBTM does continue the narrative and journey that Trilogy (his homeplace) and Kiss Land (Japan) started. On BBTM, the world theme and vibe feels like he's just venturing to the West, particularly, the old Hollywood, especially with how Real Life feels like a movie opening, Losers containing a jazz breakdown, Tell Your Friends has that old soulful drive, Can't Feel My Face and In The Night are both Michael Jackson-inspired tracks, and Dark Times sounds like it came from the American old west, the western inspirations are very strong. I'm glad you liked The Hills, it is definitely one of his best works

OG XO fan here. I keep saying this all the time, when Abel made Trilogy and Kissland he was in a dark place. He was drinking, heavier on drugs, depressed, and well even broke when making HOB, Thursday, and EOS. All of that reflected in the sound. He's none of that anymore. He cannot and will not revisit that sound because he's not in that place anymore. He's happier, has money, and things to lose. It just wouldn't be authentic anymore, he's no longer a dark mystery and he accepts his evolution. #xotwod

I love every album in it's own way. I feel like when you listen to music for the first time, it usually has the biggest impact.
