Dali *suffered* from the imagination that he was *only a replacement* of his dead brother.
@SM-rq4pr

Yes and no. While it’s true that Dalí was born shortly after the death of his older brother, which gave him a deep-seated complex about his identity, he didn’t simply see himself as a replacement. Instead, this sense of being ‘second’ drove him to assert his individuality and originality, leading to the extravagant and flamboyant persona he’s known for today.

Thanks for the video, you have a very clear and professional means of presentation. I'm a fine art framer and get to work with a variety of artists' works, Dali's portfolios are undoubtedly my favorite to frame. I've always been fascinated with his life and dynamic with Gala, so thanks again for making this video for others to learn

Couple’s reflect off on each other. Look at our parents and coupling friends. Dali and gala were both pretty intense and sexually crazed as well as determined and manipulative. It made sense why they attracted each other. Not to mention their dark sides as well.

This is so true. We’re all mirrors of each other in a way and to some degree. But romantic relationships tend to REALLY show us deeper parts of ourselves from the other persons reflection. Very interesting. I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment 🥰

Unfortunately, for reasons that remain unclear and contrary to the wishes of Dali and Gala, Salvador Dali's burial site is situated within the "Theater Museum" instead of the Gala castle. This is a source of great sadness...

Art-world boils down to Borderliner women and Narcissistic men. Toxic people/relationships and the art and artist worshipper (literally as religion)mostly middle class and up western people - circle jerking around the spectacles for measurement of their own identity or intellect. Art as a paradigm , a frame from within to view the world, never truly daring to truly dwell in their own mind and go beyond frames of reality/realities. Yet thinking or convening themselves they are true 'open minded' people and praise themselves and each other for this. I thank the maker of this vi in this vid at least for not being the typical one sided biased viewer that need to put the aryist on a pedestal where her or she is without faults or blame.

I hear ya, it can be circle jerk-y lol. I like to try to remember that we’re all flawed human beings. Pedestals would take away from our humanity.

Gala was a succubus end of Bunuel should have strangled her when he had the chance At first prolific but as the years rolled on repetitive nonsense And remember when he and gala visited a museum he was so overcome by lust he took gala into the corridor and sodemised her Attention seekers Better and more surrealist painters Dorathea Tanning Max Ernst amongst them Your reading stuff like out a book 📖

Dali apparently fell over in New York late in life, and the fall triggered an epiphany for him. He realised his art up to that point was rubbish. He disowned it, and Dali became a Christian. He painted Jesus on the cross, in space, looking down on the world. This is probably why the Vatican is exhibiting Dali soon.

At the time when making this, I realized there was a cultural difference but knew it as if it were all under the umbrella of Spain. But now this has sent me into a Catalan, Andalusian, Basque, Spain rabbit hole, and I'm just amazed at the variety in language and culture that I previously knew as just "Spain". So THANK YOU dear commenter! I appreciate you.

@@arthistorystorytime anytime. It’s an easy mistake to make; and sadly wiki doesn’t make it clear. I blame Franco! I had an elderly student who came from the other family of notaries in Figueras, they knew the Dalis well. Although not particularly wealthy he had a small Dali seascape from the early twenties that had been given to him by the family. My student had been an anarchist in Barcelona in the sixties and seventies and had lived quite a colourful life himself!
