This show has one of the best openings I know. That is actually what originally made me check out the show, just creative opening with the cardboard city (maybe that's where most of the animation budget went). I like the fact how it hypes up the first-time viewer with this opening, making you think that you'll see lots of action in this show and then... you see the actual show, and that is not a bad thing, it's making fun of itself there.

@chadschmaltz97903 жыл бұрын
@@buttersstotch9894 you're right, but it can be very distracting if the art style doesn't appeal to the viewer. For example, I've heard people say that Big Mouth takes the concept of puberty and tries to address the experiences that both boys and girls go through during those adolescent years. That's a unique concept that I would watch, but I have no interest in the show because I find the character designs too distracting to enjoy the other aspects of the show. It may be intentional that the characters are ugly to represent the poor self-image that many teenagers have of themselves, but the adults are also ugly so idk. Compared to FLCL (the original) which addresses the same ideas of puberty being a time where a person transitions both physically and mentally from a child to an adult. One of the biggest themes is overcoming the apathetic mindset that many teenagers share. It takes a more symbolic route than Big Mouth, but many of the themes are the same. Visually, I find FLCL to be really good, especially the backgrounds and the character designs. TL;DR If I am going to watch a show about characters dealing with puberty, I'd rather watch FLCL than Big Mouth for several reasons with artstyle being at the top.

Moments like Shark and Cube just driving in his car while weirdly comforting music is playing, or Peanut cop becoming a firefighter, Rooster playing some nice original country songs. The show is never fixed on just Fits, and through it's characters, it becomes deep.

Xavier renegade angel could be a good pick next, since its funny as shit, has surreal animation, and aired on adult swim. It also has its good bunch of fans, and to be honest, its the funniest crap I've ever seen. Not because it's bad, but because it's actually hilarious.

Personally I feel like it is what everyone thinks Rick and Morty is. It is multilayered philosophical madness with 98 punchlines in between

This is what makes adult swim so unique , they're ready to experiment with new things and do stuff that's not aesthetically pleasing. They can do weird and confusing stuff , if you really want to look into adults swims creative process I Reccomend watching adult swims devolpment meeting where people pitch tv shows to adult swim executives. Also the art style grows on you

Hi from the future ... as a voice from the past: I was there for this show from day 1. Found your video on a random search for something related, watched and liked it and decided that while you probably don't need my take ... here goes: I've watched it sober, then high, then sober. While it's a solid NO for me, I can explain the praise it was getting: It's the animation crowd version of hipsterism - the show was aggressively and intentionally inaccessible, breaking most rules of commercial animation all in the first episode, and some people found that daring and exciting. And that's the big clue and explanation: 12 oz Mouse is the anti-"Mickey Mouse". The whole first episode was just basically a salvo against the animation industry with its laser focus on creating high-production fare for kids and taking no risks. You can see why this would make it a darling for those that immediately keyed in on that. A troll of the animation industry. But then a weird thing happened - Matt (who I presume half-expected this thing to get pulled after episode 1) saw potential in it as a legitimate ongoing show. The challenge then was to take the chaotic elements he'd thrown on the screen and forge a cohesive show from it. (note: my personal pick for worst AS show was "Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!" A show I also 'got', but deeply disliked. While I'm not a fan of 12 oz Mouse, I at least respected it for what it was).

Holy shit I'm so glad someone is actually giving ozmo a chance! This show is easily one of my favorites of all time. Besides the enter the sandmouse episode, I would easily sit through all of these episodes over and over again. Even the one where shark and RBM are in sharks new car! Great video!

If I am not mistaken, the first two seasons of 12 Oz. Mouse was released as a movie. That is how I watched through the show and I enjoyed it immensely. The vibe hit me just right

What you're telling me is that 12 oz Mouse is Twin Peaks but the comedy and drama are switched It's also animated with a budget of genuinely a fraction of Adult Swim's already low budget shows? No wonder it got greenlit, this is great!

The rest of the show I can take it or leave it (I left it) but man I absolutely LOVE the first episode. It’s extremely quotable, surprising, and exciting. That first conversation between Fits and Shark is unforgettable, and I still hear that quiet, gravelly mouse voice whispering, “Kiss her… squeeze her…”

I remember as a kid I would wake up in the middle of the night with my tv still on, and this show would play. I tried watching it but found it difficult to process (mainly because I was at an age where I didn't understand bad words very well and became really confused at what they were)
