i still even after this video think the Commodore CDTV memory card is the most obscure memory card, the obscurity of the machine certainly helps with the obscurity of the card. I will say it's not weird though.
@retrogameattic19 күн бұрын
I wasn't aware of the of the CDTV memory card before; it definitely is super obscure and seems like it would win in the rarity department. Thanks for the heads up and for checking out the video!

For the 3DO, there's Panasonic FZ-EM256 Memory Unit that works similarly to Mega CD and Saturn's backup memory cartridge, but only for Panasonic's FZ-1 3DO console. Though frankly, the disc that came with it are likely to be more sought after, due to some 3DOs not having built-in menu to manage its internal memory contents.
@retrogameattic16 күн бұрын
I'm not super well versed in the 3DO; but my childhood friend had a Goldstar unit that we got a good amount of gameplay out of back in the day. With that being said, I wasn't aware of the Panasonic FZ-EM256 Memory Unit before. It has to be pretty obscure being that it's only compatible with the FZ-1 3DO console. Very cool! Thanks for the heads up and for checking out the video!

I knew about the Pocket stations for a long time......I never knew they were actual memory cards XD Every video i've ever seen that's talked about it only ever talked about the built in games, they always left out the memory card function unlike the VMU that everyone clarifies XD
@retrogameattic16 күн бұрын
Good point! Now that you mention it, I've never seen anyone else talk about the memory card functionality of the PocketStation either. The VMU definitely overshadows it in retrospective and that's a shame. Thank you so much for checking out the video!

I had the Lara Croft memory card as a kid. I needed a new memory card and it was all that was in stock at the store I went to at the time. So I bought it. Its ugly. But it worked as intended. Still a weird piece of gaming history tho. lol

I bought one the massive memory card 32x mem cards. They were dog shit. First of all, 90% of the time, they’d say memory card damaged. Second, they were next to impossible to remove when combined with the tremor pak plus, made by the SAME COMPANY as the massive memory card. To say that I feel quality control wasn’t their strong suit is a bit of an understatement
@retrogameattic16 күн бұрын
That's a total bummer, but not surprising that it didn't work correctly 😂. I wouldn't want to risk losing game saves on something like that so it's basically a paperweight at that point. Good to know though and thanks for checking out the video!

Heya, I liked your video. But if you don't mind some feedback, for your audio, it's missing a lot of higher frequency sound. I would definitely try to use a dif mic. That'll help to add that extra layer of polish. Subscribed off this vid btw. :)

Hey, thank you very much for the feedback and for subscribing! I am very overdue for a mic upgrade, do you have any suggestions?

@@retrogameattic Sorry I don't have a suggestion, just wanted to say that in the meantime, it's not terrible for "not great" audio. Some make me turn the vids off instantly, so you're doing well with what you have! The presentation and everything else was great too, and a good vid all around.

Theres some unrealesed marve. Character shaped ps1 ones from naki. I think only some random spiderman and xmen ones made it to market. Theres also some more regular hori ps2 cards like a dbz one in red and ffx, virtua fighter, and resident evil in clear

When those memory cards were first released, the 360 did not allow usb memory expansion. It was added later in an update. The later 360s even ditched the memory card slots.

Wow, you got pretty much _everything_ wrong about the Sega CD and Saturn backup carts. Impressive. Also, why on earth do you include stuff like the GameCube microphone?
@todesziege19 күн бұрын
The Sega CD and Saturn _Back Up_ carts you show are really just memory cards. They don't boost the work RAM available for games at all (although the Saturn also had a RAM expansion cart released, but that was a different thing.) Unlike contemporary Sony or Nintendo consoles, both these Sega systems came with built-in space to save to, so you didn't actually _need_ one of these carts. A Back Up cart would hold significantly more data than the base console though. Also, I can't see how the PlayStation PocketStation was in any way "forward thinking" when they just copied the entire concept from the Dreamcast...
