The second half feels like a epic reprisal at the end of a movie! "News of Santiana's death reaches his fleet and hometown, and all the jubilation of his fame and glory dulls for a moment. He fell in battle fighting the enemy but buying time for his fleet to flee and regroup. At dawn a funeral barge passes by the captains and officers lined by the dockside with their heads bowed in respect and mourning. A solitary set of bagpipes plays as the barge passes. One captain quietly whispers Santiana's verse to himself, other voices join his until the dockside is roaring with his triumphant theme. The final scene is the fleet bearing down on the unprepared enemy, with the sunlight gleaming off the name on the newly christened Flagship, the Santiana."

My 3yo daughter has listened to The Wellerman a hundred times in the last few months, and yesterday KZbin decided to let me know that this song exists. It goes so damn hard, what an absolute banger. We walked through the drug store singing the "heave her up" bit on repeat to each other. She sits in her car seat while we drive and just sings whatever lyrics she can remember. The build-up at the end gives me goosebumps. I've played this song maybe 30 times in the last 48 hours. Well done.

Read this while listening; There was once a girl that grew up as the jewel of her parents. One day a gang of pirates came to her village and pillaged the families there. They did not spare anyone. The dear girl ran into a nearby barrel and hid. After the carnage, she was found by one of pirates and begged for her life. The pirate took pity on the poor girl and took her into the ship without the knowledge of the others. She muffled her crying as she felt the ship pull away from the shore. She would never see her homeland again. The pirate took her some food whenever he could. But one day, she was discovered by the pirate captain. He was stunned by her beauty and brought her out on the deck. She stood on the deck shivering in the cold. The captain and the pirates stood around her gaping. The captain announced that whomever beat him in a sword fight would have the girl. Many of the pirates tried and failed to win her. Finally, the captain laughed and told the girl that she would be his. The pirate that had saved her rose up next. He did not wish for the girl to lose her honor to the gruesome captain. Despite putting up a good fight, he fell and was thrown overboard. The girl was outraged. She asked the captain for a bet. If she could beat him in a duel, then he would let her be free. The cruel captain agreed and readied his sword. "And what is your name, girl?" he asked gruffly. The girl stood defiantly and said "My name is Santiana." She would avenge her family and the young pirate lad who had died trying to defend her. She unsheathed a small dagger and kissed it before throwing it at the captain. The unprepared captain was hit in the heart and the girl became the pirate queen of the ship. Santiana still sails the sea.
