Still 'good for a drug PSA episode' if you consider it that. An Olympic athlete uses an illegal substance to excel and the side effects not only terrify but chain him to doing the dealer's bidding. Unique soundtrack for the episode. Maybe if we'd gotten a closer look at some mitigating circumstances for Romulus, like he's reached the point where he'll lose the ability to compete and wants to leave a good final impression before retiring, but that would be harder to convey since most of his background is delivered through flashbacks and narration.

Y'know, i think the wolf's metaphor in this episode is the overwhelming desire to satisfy one's needs. Whether primitive or noble, Romulus went after his pursue of sport success, he bites into it, holds it in a death grip and ready to ravage anyone who stands in his way.

The cool part of the werewolf episode, it was the fact that the detective Harvey Bullock showed a rare support toward Batman, when he was fighting against the werewolf, as one of the police officers were training their guns in them and preparing to shot them down. But then Bullock stopped them, saying that the Bat could deals with the werewolf, showing an interesting character development, as in early episodes, Harvey Bullock would be who gave the order to fire against them without hesitance.

Great video! Some years ago, I did an amalgam of the DC and Marvel Comics world for a Role-Playing Game. It was a Daredevil/Batman amalgam called, "Dark Devil". One of the villains was the Werewolf of the Moon (based on an amalgam of this character and John Jameson/Man-wolf from Marvel). I really thought that BTAS should have had more episodes with this character to develop him further. In my role-playing game, the character is hunted by the police, while he searches desperately for a cure in the Year Two Dark Devil Arc, "Justice is Blind".

It's a forced manipulation of your muscular-skeletal structures; human muscle fibers are elastic, yes, but when you start f*&king with the bones and tendons, things are gonna break. Torn muscles and ligaments, bones and teeth breaking or growing and re-shaping at insane speeds (a normal fracture takes 6-8 weeks to fully mend; this is in minutes!)...yeah. I'd say all that's gonna hurt like heck. If it wasn't part of the lore that lycans almost universally, across all lore, all get massively accelerated healing, they'd be paralyzed with pain and helpless for the duration of the full moon. Even with, they ought to be down and out for a couple minutes while they bounce back.

Something I wish they would adapt, in maybe Caped Cruaader, would be Batman:Gothic, aka Legends of the Dark Knight #6 - 10. Personal hypothesis: the werewolf serum allows the user to keep/maintain more of their personality and rational thought capacity simply because of the greater capacity of the brain itself. Bat brains vary by species, but it's usually between 66-70 million neurons. There's not any solid data for a wolf's neural count, but it should be comparable to a dog's (530 million). Neither of those is within shouting distance of a human brain (16 *billion* neurons!) but there's clearly more physical room there for the personality to remain at least semi-intact.
@krvgames9258Ай бұрын
Now Serum Lake, I don’t if you are taking suggestions, but while this isn’t DCAU canon, there is two crossovers between DC and the Web Animated show RWBY, which first had a comic series crossover, and two movies, in Superheroes & Huntsmen Part 1 and Part 2, and the movies have a villain called Killgore. But the problem is that the crossover comic series is part of their own canon, while the movies are trying to be canon to the show. And there are so many problems with the movies, especially the main villains. So the big twist of the first movie is that the whole first part of the two part crossover movie is that it takes place in a virtual simulation making Team RWBY and Team JNR look like how they look when they were back in Volumes 1 to 3 at Beacon Academy, but the problem is that Yang, the fourth member of Team RWBY, has a robotic arm and that Pyrrha, the third member of Team JNPR, is not a part of this virtual simulation, and that is because for Yang, she lost an arm during the climax of Volume 3 and she gained a robotic arm in Volume 4 while Pyrrha died in Volume 3. And the first part is stated to take place between Volumes 7 and 8. And then there is part 2, which takes place on Earth, and is stated to take place after Volume 9, which I don’t think that actually happened because Team RWBY and Jaune just got out of the Ever After. And then there is the matter of the two main villains, Killgore and Arthur Watts. Now Arthur Watts is the main villain of RWBY Volume 7, but is the true main villain of the crossover movies, but it’s not really him, but a digital copy of himself that he uploaded. And I seriously wonder how he did this, because the last time we saw Arthur Watts in RWBY was in Volume 8, where he was trapped in a burning room thanks to Cinder Fall, so he couldn’t have made a digital copy of himself that would be sent to the DC universe. And he also couldn’t have made Killgore, because again, how would he have made Killgore and uploaded it to the virtual simulation? And then there is the matter of Cyborg hacking into a Grimm that invaded the DC universe, and he slowly becomes a Grimm. How is that possible now? The only Grimm we see that was human was The Hound, and that was currently the only Grimm that we see was an experiment. But I still find that the RWBY and Justice League crossover movies, while trying to be canon to the show, aren’t canon and aren’t even mentioned in the show. And speaking of Killgore, if you do a video essay on both Killgore and Arthur Watts, you should compare Killgore to two others AI villains in comics, Marvel Comics Ultron, and the DCAU’s Brainiac to see how well those two are as AI villains while Killgore fails as an AI villain.

I still think it’s a good episode since not every villain should be deeply sympathetic, and Batman has always stood against people who abuse established systems for their own personal gain (although normally on a less petty scale than cheating in sports). I understand why they didn’t let it be supernatural, but if they had let it be supernatural they could have explored the pathos of the werewolf more. I don’t think it’s necessary for a good villain, but it’s helpful for a good Batman villain to dive deep into a tortured mind before it breas. This could have been a more monstrous Two-Face type story, or they could’ve double down on the comparisons between Anthony and Batman in going to such extreme lengths to achieve peak physical condition, but they didn’t compare and contrast them enough in the episode, just a little bit at the beginning

I believe there is an interpretation for being a reflection of Bruce/Batman with Anthony. Anthony is rich much like Bruce, but his ambition and pride blinded him, which led him using his riches to gain an upper hand that was not only dishonorable but also had consequences. Bruce uses his riches to bring justice as Batman while also supporting the community with what he can. Anthony uses his riches for himself while Bruce uses it for others.

5:56 One of the little things I like about Young Justice is how there are three women named Cassandra. The show doesn't think we will confuse Vandal Savage's daughter, Wonder Girl, and Batgirl together. Because a muscular giantess, a blonde cheerleader, and a mute Asian with cuts all over her face would be easy to confuse, according to a bunch of show writers.

Moon of the wolf may not have been the best episode of BTAS but is far from being the worst. It may not be one of the greatest episodes, but it’s ok, it doesn’t have to be. Though I still wish they made it a bit better than it ended up being. Werewolves aren't as scary as faceless ghosts, dreamwalkers like Doctor Destiny, and those cosmic horrors an average magical girl or mecha taskforce have always battled. Oh, well, at least we got that electric guitar theme that reminds me of Beast Wars: Transformers' OST lots. 1:34: (simply stares at mine own mobile phone) Assuming that a werewolf in Gotham is just a costume won't work always in a world where speedsters, some demon persona named Etrigan, and mofo'ing Superman exist. 5:15: Should have been canon in the DCAU, if it weren't for The Batman Adventures 1992. However... Hmm, why not Anthony Remus? 6:27: Ooh, Ginger Snaps shout-out. If this were about vampires, we may have gotten Jennifer's Body. 7:09: So? At least we got the DCAU Doomsday in equivalent exchange. 7:51: Bowlcuts can still work for nicer, dreamy characters, like Mako Mankanshoku from Kill la Kill. The performance enhancing drugs Aesop is eventually done better in Batman Beyond S1E5 - "The Winning Edge". Wait, no mention of that timely couple just finding Batman and Romulus grappling each other and then calling the cops in response? That moment helpfully grew on me. TBA 1992 issue 21 (which does a continuity snarl by having Catwoman mention that she thought Tygrus was dead, by the way), alongside The Batman and Robin Adventures issue 11 featuring an irreversible Man-Bat, seem to be decanonized come the Gotham Adventures era though. Not sure why. Heh, the ep, despite the flaws, shouldn't be skipped though, considering continuity matters for JLU's "The Doomsday Sanction". People won't like it, but hey, it's already part of the cemented lore, so anyone has no choice but to bear with it. And I think Teen Titans S3E9 - "The Beast Within" did the werewolf formula better, by the way. In an aside, Darkseid >>> Thanos and Apocalypse.
