Fortunately we couldn't fit in well enough so we gave up our spot and stayed about 100 yards West of where you were. GREAT spot in the middle of the "Supper Bloom" . The car & bicycle next to you were still there when we left. Way past the 14 day limit ! The flora & fona were much more alive with color than your video depicts. Sea's of orange, purple, white & yellow desert flowers. Its all about the timing; and ares was just pure luck.

I like how you warn people of dangers in the areas you are in. I think sometimes people on vacation don't think about danger because they are so enjoying their trip. Every place we visit has things we might not know about. I lived in Mississippi and you just know not to walk in tall grass or swim in some places. People in New England can walk in tall grass and swim in ponds, they go to south and don't know about the critters.

For your future information Robert, Yucca trees is pronounced "yuck-a" not "you-ka". LOL. That's what we call them in CA. And as for the Cholla cactus, what makes them so dangerous is the fact they have barbs on the end of their spines. They get into your skin and won't let go! It's similar to having a fishing hook in your skin. Sometimes it requires getting pliers to get them out. And for anyone visiting the gardens, if you get one in you, you most likely will have more than one spine to deal with. Always remember to pull out the shortest ones first because when you start to pull them out, your skin will stretch and they will keep traveling deeper into your skin. If you pull the longest ones first, the shorter ones could disappear and you'll have to have them professionally taken out. I know this from experience. I was very surprised to hear they had shut the place down. I was shocked. Joshua Tree is one of my favorite places to visit in CA. I'm glad they reopened the park. As for wildlife there - we were driving out of camp one early morning and I got the rare experience of seeing a mountain lion crossing the road. There are a lot of coyotes there too and at night you can start howling and get them all going. It's a fun thing to do at night while sitting around the fire. In the morning I woke up to the coyotes in our camp and they were eating our grapes we had left out. It was at the end of summer so they were real hungry from lack of food.
