Yeah, I thought that's where Jim Rockford's old decrepit trailer was. It seems on every episode, he'd be unlocking his front door and the bad guys are somehow always inside waiting to beat him up and kidnap him.

Robert i am hooked and enjoying watching every video of your travels. Brings back memories climbing the Hollywood sign in 1978 a few months before Alice Cooper and friends had it restored and was off limits to the public. Traveling from Edmonton Alberta to Lakeside San Diego down the 101 coast Hwy then into the mid western States where i got lost in beauty. What was to be a 3 month trip and 28 years later i returned home.

We enjoyed the Carriage museum in Santa Ynez which has all kinds of buggies, wagons, and carriages. Fun place. We also like Ballard (there are a lot of buzzards in the trees! and the Fess Parker Hotel, flag pole in the street, etc.). Loved Solvang. Have been there many times. I sometimes still go to Anderson's for Pea Soup (Don't know if it is still serving food as it was said to be closing?). There is a pretty little county park near Solvang which has a nice small waterfall.

Good stuff on that tour of that Spanish Mission Church. I inspected the Mission San Juan Capistrano in the early 90s on their fire insurance and it wasn't as interesting as that one in Santa Barbara you looked at. That bastard insurance company paid only $50 for 12 buildings.

Sorry I missed you here in my part of the world. A few notes- At 4:47 when you drive from Buellton to Solvang you pass through a grove of pines that is exactly one mile long. I measured it once, when I had a hunch that it might be that long. At 33:31 you exit the 101 on Vineyard Ave. This was the same exit seen in the movie Sideways. Chosen for its name, no doubt!

When we visited from the UK, we went to the same restaurant in Malibu. Had to go there as I was a big fan of the Rockford files and Jim had his trailer in that very car park. They also filmed Amercan Pie 2 there. Pretended the sea was a lake. Built the set house on the beach then dismantled it afterwards. Spent the evening at Ventura beach. Walked around the neighbourhood and while rubber necking the fantastic houses my wife fell over one of those bright yellow fire hydrants. No permanent damage fortunately

I live in Australia, but visit USA every couple of years. I really like following various USA travel vlogs to give me inspiration for our next trip. We did LA region about three years ago now. Seeing this video has really given me the travel bug again, I'm dying to do the Californian coastal drive from San Francisco down to San Diego! This video was also very good in that you included Solvang (I never knew how quaint it is), and seeing all the spots on the coast was great. As far as LA goes, I have fond memories of Malibu, Santa Monica, and Venice, so seeing them here was absolutely great! Thank you for providing us with the armchair opportunity to see these places again. Keep posting your adventures Robert, you do a really great job mate!
