Robert, all your videos are great! The 13 previous chapters of your western trip were really great! But Chapter 14, Death Valley, is spectacular!!! Can't believe the scenary. I've seen videos of this area before, but none have captured the grandeur that some of your shots did. You may not have the camera system you would like, but you certainly make the most of what you have. Great job!!

Another excellent video Robert! I think you and I share the same feelings about Death Valley, it is a magical place. I first discovered Death Valley about 10 years ago when I was living in Southern California. When I retired I move to Pahrump Nevada so I could be closer to Death Valley and also volunteered for four years as a camp host at Stovepipe Wells, the campsite you stayed at. I think next to Grand Canyon this is probably one of the most spectacular national parks that I have ever visited. I commend your lifestyle, you are doing what you want to do and that is great. Again I really enjoy your videos keep the good work up. I still return to Death Valley on a regular basis, about four or five times a year for two or three weeks at a time, but just as a visitor. It is a place where one can really discover inner peace. A little trivia. Stovepipe Wells got its name from the fact that during the mid-1800s, I believe when settlers were crossing Death Valley they discovered water about 4 miles from where Stovepipe Wells is currently located. And for some reason, don't ask me how they had a stove pipe with them, they drove it into the ground so other people could find this water resource. The early entrepreneurs saw the opportunity for this to be a tourist site so they started out with their wagons to put the resort at the location where the earlier settlers drove the stove pipe in the ground. The reason stovepipe Wells is located where it is, is because the wagons got stuck in the sand and they said screw it we're just put the resort here instead of trying to go through the sand dunes.

Hi Robert! Colorado isn’t struggling...it’s getting wound up which is where it makes its most horsepower and torque. Like all gas-powered engines, it’s designed to rev, so let it rev. Lugging it will actually cause temps to rise, and there isn’t anything wrong with a transmission temp of 170. Love the videos!

Great video. Robert on your first stop Father Crowley Vista Point you gave two tips, let me add one more. The official name of the canyon as you noted was Rainbow Canyon, but it is more popular known as "Star Wars Canyon" and the "Jedi Transition." It is called this because the U.S. Air Force & Navy train their fighter pilots there. The latest fighter jets weave through those very canyons you were looking at, and you can can observe it all from some of the overlooks at Father Crowley's. Early "Star Wars" did a lot of their action scenes there. I was hoping a few jets with their after-burners on would come streaking by and make you shake in your boots! Note at some of the overlooks you are ABOVE the jets, looking down. From some vantage points you can actually see the pilots faces. But alas, the military doesn't train there everyday so all visitors may not witness the action. Poor weather keeps the jets away too. For anyone interested there is a KZbin site by Dafydd Phillips-"Death Valley Days" where you can see up close and personal these jets like an F-(any number) roaring through the canyon and making the canyon walls and YOU tremble in awe! Father Crowley's is the best observation point, and they have overlooks with that (fighter jet spotting) in mind. I was lucky on my day there, and got to see some of the action.

Del Stanley, several weeks prior to his trip I gave Robert a heads-up regarding Star Wars Canyon. Wasn’t sure that he actually made it there - until now! Good to see that he had the chance to visit the area. Unfortunately, the weather during his stay kept the fighters grounded. Perhaps another time...

@@BigDukeX > Update. A naval fighter F-18 Hornet slammed into a canyon wall a couple of days ago (July 31). The pilot was killed. About seven civilians on the ground (from France I think ) were injured but not critical. They closed off several viewing locations. There was talk (news people) about not having the training there anymore. I hope they don't close this Death Valley area as a training facility. Wherever they train sooner or later there will be training fatalities. For NOW though it's off I understand unless you heard differently. Of course people I assume can still go to that part of the park, they just want be seeing the jets rolling in.

Bummer you sacrificed your Colorado like you do--hope everything turned out OK--expecting to see updates in the subsequent videos as I'm watching 2019 (4 years later) in order. At 52:28, you said, "I would like to come in the summer... ." My wife and I have been to the park in February and late May. Late May was 114 degrees. Every time we got out of a car, we were stepping into an oven--the expression is overused but that's exactly what it felt like. I am convinced I could feel the moisture leaving my body. February was much more comfortable and we spend several days in the park. Blessings on your travels!

Thank you, Robert, I love that you make your own music, I and my kids sing it. It's really catchy. I like driving to the west. Oh yeah, key west it's a cool song. Also that Destin fl video is my favorite one so far.

Also, besides the great videos of your travels, you are hilarious. You seriously crack me up. Laughter, dark chocolate, red wine, are all good for the heart. Thanks again.

Be sure to have a reservation for either RV camping or for a motel when visiting Death Valley. A number of years ago we went for what we expected to be an overnight there but could not find any accommodations for the valley or for several CA towns we had hoped to stay at. We ended up having to spend the night in a really bad old motel just to have someplace to sleep for a few hours and then on our way (we were not in an RV then). Also take a lot of water in your RV or car. We went to Death Valley to see the exceptionally big floral bloom that had happened due to a lot of rains there that year.

I think the tea kettles were more like littering. Just like people putting locks at the locks. Only thing worse is people tagging with spray paint .
