Just came across your video as I'm looking to do the WHW in Oct. Great video! You two are so enjoyable to watch.

Well done folks. I've done it both ways and always say it's harder from north to south. Good to see a video of two hardy souls getting it done backwards. 😄 👍

Hello there too! Yes, you hear nothing all year then we pop up somewhere in Scotland! Looking to do some more touring next year, so should hear more from us then. What with this whole pandemic malarky, we've been somewhat thrown out of sync! Take care!

North to south! That climb from Fort Willaim! I remember coming down and going "thank God I don't have to walk up it" Great video guys!!! Atb Get Two It 😁

Ha ha! You know, I have to be honest and say that I don't remember the climb up being that bad, but on fresh legs, I don't suppose we would have noticed it! It's a fairly long day to Kinlochleven and we had horrific weather for it. Certainly worthy of the 'final test' status when walked south to north! Have a great day, both!

Hello! No firm travel plans as yet. Just hanging on to see what this covid malarkey is going to do next. Looking to doing a lot more touring next summer, but we've got some house sitting commitments and other bits that will curtail that. Might be a bit of a mixed year!

Hats off to you we've done lots of peaks (Inc Ben nevis) and long distance paths whilst touring in our caravan although now we're in our 60s we e-bike more than walk, but know how hard and painful it can be so we'll done enjoy your walking it's not how quick you are it's the journey and achievement you'll remember.

Nice one! We haven't been up Ben Nevis yet. Will have a pop at it next year, perhaps. E-bikes are fantastic - my in laws converted their pedal cycles to e-bikes and adore them. We're considering cycling the Great Glen Way next year, so watch out for that one!

Thanks for joining us, Ken. We don't put out content that often, but we're also not trying to earn a living from KZbin, so it's nice not to have the pressure of having to create video content, if you get what I mean! Wholly recommend the WHW if you fancy a challenge! The scenery is breathtaking!

I love the wiping off the camera screen every couple seconds. I’m thinking of hiking the WHW October next year. Do you think it’s a good time to go?
@TheMcNeillsonWheels2 жыл бұрын
Anytime is a good time to go, but anytime out of midge season is best!!! Go for October! The trees are changing colour and everything looks beautiful! Good luck!

Walking the WHW at they end of October, this video has helped reduce my anxiety level a couple notches! Thank you for this. I saw you both weren’t wearing heavy clothing, how exactly is the weather end October first week of November? Our first day from the starting point is October 31st. Thank you!

Hi Ally, anytime of year is fabulous to walk the WHW, but the autumnal colours in October are superb. With regards to the clothing, you are working that hard carrying packs and walking that your body will create a lot of heat, so even if the air temperature is around 5 degrees C, you won't feel it until you stop for a break. The end of October can be a mixed bag - either cool, crisp, bright days, or wet and miserable. If you are planning on camping, you will find overnight temperatures cold, possibly below freezing, and damp. Daylight hours will be short, so set off early, possibly in the dark, to make the most distance during the available light, especially on the longer days. Fortunately, if you do get caught out, the path is incredibly well-marked throughout the trail's length, so even in low-light, it will be straightforward to navigate. I hope that you have found this helpful, but if you have any other questions, drop me an email - mcneilljamie@hotmail.com and I will help where I can. You'll have a great time and I look forward to hearing all about it!

Ah I have missed your content and this was a welcome change. I have wanted to do the WHW for a number of years and I have watched countless videos on it. This though is one of the best. I have screen shot the itinerary slide - one question did you have all your kit in your back packs or did you use a luggage service?
@TheMcNeillsonWheels3 жыл бұрын
Hello! Thanks for your incredibly kind comments. We carried our luggage, though staying in hotels and eating out reduced what we had to carry with us. There are luggage transfer services available, which are very affordable. It's quite achievable to cut most days down to c.10 miles, with the exception of the Kinlochleven to Fort William section. Happy to have a chat with you if you're interested in doing the route. We'd like to do it over 10 days next time.
