Reading the catechisms is very calming. It’s easy to love if you love the scripture.

I grew up in this... Then turned away from truth... Then I got born again, and after many years I am going back to the Westminster confession of faith from banner of truth. I am watching to see how you review it. Then I saw you had two other books that I grew up in too! I now have both again.I am excited to get back into Truth !

It's probably the best and simplest explanation I've heard. Thanks 😊

The Westminster Confession of Faith (and well as some other historic confessions can be found in "The Reformation Heritage KJV Study Bible." Matthew it was YOUR review that made me want to have that Bible in my study. Excellent and has some great notes that are both informational and devotional. Thanks for the video review you did on this one.

I would love a video showing how you went about putting leather binding on that. It turned out great 👍.

I’m going through Training Hearts, Teaching Minds by Starr Meade based off the Westminster shorter catechism and it has been really good. We homeschool so we use a mix of resources but this has really anchored our day well.

All of a sudden I feel like I gotta go back to Presbyterian after having been Methodist since 2001. There was no Presbyterian within driving distance where I used to live. Decisions, decisions.

Hey Ptr. Matt! I just got my copy of that along with the study guides of G. I. Williamson this week. I'm really excited to study it and compare it to the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith and Catechism!

Most of the Westminster divines were of course Anglican prebyters and a lot of them stayed in the CofE. This document was not intended to start a new denomination (Presbyterian). Thanks for posting this video!

I'm returning to the Reformed faith and I already owned the Valley of Vision and the WCF/SC/LC lol. I really need to get my hands on Spurgeons book though. Any idea on how to balance all 3 devotionals?

In the confession, did they ever reference the Apocrypha?
@MatthewEverhard7 жыл бұрын
Brian McClurg yes in chapter one the confession says the Apocrypha is not the Word of God, even though they may be of historical insight. WCF only regards the 66 books of OT and NT as inspired.

I am a Presbyterian. We have those books that have questions and answers according to the Bible. But, as far as I know, we don't use the Westminster standards or those I think. But, I think in our country and region, the Presbyterian system is different from USA's Presbyterian system. In our region, the Presbyterian missionaries were from Wales. But , Pastor, I just wanted to know: are the Presbyterian systems different from one country to another?

The Westminster Confession is not part of the inspired Word of God. Some if it may be correct but there are parts that are not Bible based?
@Psalm144.15 жыл бұрын
Like what? Did you watch the video? The WCF is all based on the Bible and the scriptures are inside the book.

WCF teaches that "only the original manuscripts in Greek/Hebrew" are the Word of God--no one has the originals & thus no one really has the Christian Bible; therefore, the ministers cannot honestly say the "Word of the Lord'

Its true that only the original manuscripts are the inerrant Words of God.

R.C. Sproul gives good treatment in the Reformation Trust (Ligonier) book entitled "Truths We Confess". I am currently going through this 700-plus page volume and treating my devotional study with great respect. I was going to respond more directly to your comment from the book, but I didn't find the page where your comment is addressed. I do recall however, that the confession did call any attempts to translate the original writings "vulgar". The confession text itself, however, continues with more verbiage on this subject. R.C. does respond and analyze with some convincing text himself as he gives his introduction. Can we use the term "Word of the Lord" honestly? I am convinced we can though you will have to read R.C.'s and other scholars' treatment of why (it is a miracle of technology that you have access to many teachers on the subject through the internet - provided you really want to know). You will find that the Word of the Lord is alive and powerful in our day. The living testimony to this is not a point of intellectual curiosity and treatment but, rather, because God is alive and still speaks, and clarifies, in and by and through His Word. All of the mumbo-jumbo from which I speak has something to do with the God's Holy Spirit.
