Reading the Valley of Vision is one of the best devotionals , I’ve ever read. That and the Heidelberg catechism is a great introduction to catechism.

David Brainerd's Diary (vol. 1) and Journal (vol. 2) have been hugely beneficial to me.

These are all wonderful. I have them all in my library. The VoV is shocking when you first begin to read it. I got a copy for my older daughter and she loves it as well. She is a director of music at a Pensacola church. I have been praying for a revival of congregational singing, the hymns and psalms. She recently asked me about my copy of the metrical psalms. I purchased her a copy. Prayers are being answered

Those are all good. I have and also used THe Valley of Vision plus Morning and Evening. But you didn't mention My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers

VoV and Morning and Evening are superb. I have Henry's A Method for Prayer. I also recommend Richard Rushing's V 1 and V2 Voices from the Past.

Thanks for sharing Mat! A Journey toward heaven by Benge is a great devotional book too. It’s Jonathan’s Edwards work.

Love these, one of my favorites that was not included was "A Diary of Private Prayer" By John Baillie. I read that with my Morning and Evening and Valley of Vision

I am new to your You Tube channel, and have enjoyed your videos very much. I appreciate this one on the greatest devotionals of all time. May I suggest one more? "My Utmost for His Highest" by Oswald Chambers (in the original, classic version, not the "updated" one!). Those daily readings cut to the quick. I've also read a wonderful biography of him- "Abandoned to God," by David MacAsland. Thanks for the reading suggestions!

what about Oswald Chambers' My Utmost for HIs Highest and Andrew Murray's Daily in HIs Presence? I've wanted to pray the Daily Office and was told there was non-Catholic version - but I thought that's what I had and it turned out to have too much Mary for me :-(

I like your choices, but one of the oldest and most popular of all devotional books is Daily Light on the Daily Path , orig. published by Bagster. I've read through it a bunch, and it often has something in it that's very helpful. I especially like your choice of Pilgrim's Progress as one of the great devotional books of all time.
