I drive an old Volkswagen Golf Mk2 and it has got very special clock. First of all it’s just a normal analog clock, secondly you have to reset it every time you enter the car and lastly when you drive, it does absolutely nothing for about 20 minutes straight and then it jumps ten minutes forward, just like that. I absolutely adore it.

Lol, I used to work for Wheego as an intern in Atlanta. Everything about the car was designed or bought oversees and glued together to hop on the EV hype train. Most parts are off the shelf components and the Curtis motor controller it uses was meant for a golf kart. Fun fact, as the models in circulation started to need replacement parts we ran into a problem with sourcing. Lead times from China aren't great, and some of the parts weren't even being produced anymore. So, the employee Wheegos would be cannibalized to fix customer cars instead. I have fond memories of driving a company Wheego between the office and warehouse with the dash missing and wires dangling everywhere.

Most other so-called "budget" electric cars are very expensive compared to that! People seem to, nowadays, have the opposite perception that electric cars are very fast, but why should that necessarily be the case if an EV is built with price as the number one priority?

Very well presented with point and counterpoint from the owner's pov. I was constantly reminded of a commentary I wrote on a presentation of the crash survivability of a "Smart 4 Two", where one had front ended into a concrete divider at highway speeds. With the front 'bumper' on a vertical line with the windshield, metal crumpled to the driver's thigh bones, I found it ludicrous that they praised the unmarked back of the car. I believe I compared their verbiage as chopping the front of your foot off at the arch and seeking praise for your lack of heel callus. I fondly remember wishing I had your Trabant engine to modify as an engine for one of my bike builds. As another Missourian, machinist and garage engineer, love your videos, keep them coming.

I have a 1978 Chrysler Cordoba that had a worn-down cam lobe when I bought it. In the era of some of the worst manufacturing ever that Cordoba is still light-years ahead of the Wheego.

Many '70s US cars are still on the road in some way, half a century later. Let's see how long Wheegos will go... he said one has died with just around 18000 miles because of a construction fault. Laughable...

Even 1970s GM cars were better built than then the Wheego heck I'd even say there was less shenanigans going on than you see on Teslas today.

This was so great and i enjoyed every second of it. You sound like me. I have a Vanagon Westfalia. It has not been reliable in the least. But OMG do I love it so much. It's fun to drive with all 4 speeds in the gearbox, it agressively corners like my Model 3, and just puts a stupid smile on my face everytime I drive it. But when a dark cloud comes over head, sputter sputter stall... And I love it. Fold the rear seat, pull a blanket out of the cabinet and go to bed until the rain passes. Hahaha.

I suspect... It doesn't have 60hp. Because than it could most likely go faster than 105kph. (he said without a limiter it wouldn't be faster....)

yeah but as texan's you would kill a wheego in no time cause if the transmission of a wheego gets stripped out in 17 thousand miles of driving how long would that take a texan to put on the car to do it probably 6 months if that you may get lucky and it may take a little longer to do it but still you would kill it cause the wheegos trash on wheels they are breaking right off the dealership floor

I've just watched the Wheego playlist and I have some thoughts. Idk if you read all your comments, but here goes. Find some grommets to put on it where needed, please. If you can get your hands on that computer again, duplicate it's hard drive and get a laptop just like it, so you can have your own. Who knows when you'll want/need it. Oh, and there's a Wheego Whip that was posted for sale in Iola, KS two months ago, but is still listed on SE Kansas' Craigslist. Great videos. So glad Technology Connections and you made that Brown video, so I was able to find you/them. Thanks.
