Sepultura is one of my favourite bands of all time. Founded by the Cavalera brothers Max (vocals/guitar) and Igor (drums) in 1984 at Belo Horizonte, one amazing thing about Sepultura is the way they evolved from classic Death Metal sound in their first two records (they were pretty much teens by that time) to go onto creating an unique Thrash Metal sound in constant evolution from 'Schizophrenia' (1987) to 'Arise' (1991). In 1996 they released their most succesful album 'Roots', in which they got to mix their sound with brazilian instruments and music from the Xavante tribe in the middle of the Amazonia, creating a truly classic masterpiece and one of the most influencial albums of all time in any Metal genre. Please next time react to 'Beneath The Remains' (1989) since is my favourite of them, or if you want to listen to a more evolved sound for the band, try 'Territory' or 'Refuse/Resist' from Chaos AD (1993) and either 'Attitude' or 'Cut-Throat' from Roots (1996).

Exodus I spent my 20's living in the SF Bay Area in the 80's. Every weekend we had so much live entertainment to choose from, being 30 minutes drive from San Francisco and Oakland, and right near San Jose. There was always top not h entertainment. This was during the birth and explosion of metal and thrash. I "grew up" (for lack of better term) watching these bands play all the time. Exodus, Death Angel, Metallica and Testament were all local and I was fortunate enough to see them all several times each. Pretty much everything I said about Sepultura applies to Exodus as well. They didn't always translate to the studio as well as Sepultura, but this track definitely hit the mark. It was about as close to a pop sound that could be tolerated by the community at that time. But yeah, this music is ALL about moshing. It is written to illicit a physical reaction and that reaction is usually aggression. A mosh pit is not violence. Violence is directed at someone or something specific. A mosh pit is a random and indiscriminate release of energy and aggression. Rich the Ancient Metal Beast

So, Slayer Lead Guitarist Kerry King, and Rhythum Guitarist, Jeff Hanneman (RIP), were HUGE horror movie fans; especially the 70s slasher genre of films. Their aim was to make their music an audible Slasher film, and thats why some songs have that eerie sound to them. I love slayer; not only for the speed and ferocity, but also the eerie sound. Hope you enjoyed this fun Slayer fact hahaha :) Loved your reacts, subbed!!!!

The Big 4 got that name because they were the first 4 metal bands to sell platinum albums in the 1990s. Before the Big 4 there was the Bay Area Bashers in the early 1980s, Metallica, Slayer, Exodus, Death Angel and Testament were the main 5 bands but there were others. Most thrash bands lived, worked and played gigs around a neighbourhood known as Battery in San Francisco, James wrote Battery for Master of Puppets when the band signed with Elektra and relocated to LA. The pic of the band on the couch on the back of the album was taken on their last day in the house they rented in Battery.

Your reaction to Sepultura was perfect! You went for a beating off the bat and handled it well lol. Try anything from Chaos AD or Roots. More groove oriented and accessible for people just discovering them.

Huh, honestly I stopped liking where Sepultura was going after Chaos AD, Roots the singing was just getting more and more of a harsher growl style and just didn't like it. To me the best Sepultura albums are Beneath the Remains , Arise and Chaos AD. Arise being my absolute favorite.

Your energy is unmatched (this is coming from a person spending 10 years doing Kundalini meditation). While I hope the small corner of our world searching for reaction videos on YT keep receiving a portion of that energy, I mainly hope you enjoy a balanced life and experience great things.

I like to see your reactions because you analize a song much much better than some others who talk bla bla bla.Greetings from Germany.😎👍

Seeing Sepultura live is something else. They're don't faff about with talking to the audience: they just come onstage and kick serious ass. I would have recommended Chaos A.D. or Roots Bloody Roots as a starting point, but Arise is such an outstanding track that I'm not surprised it topped the recommendations. BTW, "sepultura" is an actual word. It means "the ritual of interment" (as in funeral rites etc.). It's related to "sepulchre". I'm so happy you listened to The Toxic Waltz as your first Exodus song. It's just a whole heap of fun. Come to think of it, I love the whole Fabulous Disaster album. But their most truly influential work was the album Bonded By Blood.

Exodus kicks all kinds of ass!! The singer for Toxic Waltz is Steve 'Zetro' Souza, who is only one of the singers in their history. I recommend giving the tile track from their debut album 'Bonded by Blood' a shot! it features Paul Baloff their initial singer who is my personal favorite, but I'll let you decide for yourself!
@KabukiKid3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Bonded by Blood is their best album, if you ask me.
