I am so relieved to see this. The PT MS specialist told me, “it doesn’t matter what you do, yes do these exercises but you have PPMS and it’s only going to get worse and you’ll end up in a wheelchair.”
@SteveSolvesMS5 ай бұрын
What you do has EVERYTHING to do with the trajectory of this disease. I wish everyone in the medical profession would realize that. It shows their ignorance. I have been close to ending up in a wheelchair before, and I bounced back, and I'm farther away from that "inevitability" than ever before.

I've been looking for a new breakfast routine. I learned that food order is a big deal and feel the difference, but I'm still a carb queen. Coconut butter is a good idea and will help alleviate those carb cravings. I understand it is also suppose to help with weight loss and all about that. Good video!

Years ago I was eating 2 - 3 tablespoons of coconut oil a day, just off a spoon, it was so nice. After a few days, I started losing weight, and then I could spin around without holding on to something after a few weeks. I had no clue I was doing the right thing for myself at the time. I just ordered some coconut oil and coconut butter from Amazon. It will be delivered on Saturday. I will try eating it again and drop the butter (cow's butter) for a month and see if I notice anything happening.

Hi Again Steve, Appreciate your prompt responses and have been eating only once daily for a week and already feeling better. Just curious as to your thoughts on nerve repair foods and supplements, specifically Acetyl L-Carnitine and LIONS Mane. Lions mane mushroom promotes Nerve Growth Factor (NGF) and can help repair nerves. It increases "neurogenesis" in the brain link . and LIONS Main Mushrooms. Mushrooms are special because they have compounds that can pass the blood-brain barrier. Normally, your brain filters out everything just in case it's harmful to the body, but mushrooms can pass that filter and have some interesting effects. I've done my fair share of investigation. I've tried all these supplements for years. I'll just let you know, they don't work. Sounds good on paper, true, but it just doesn't pan out in real life.

I alternate between high-calorie and low-calorie days. On high days, I eat 12 tablespoons, and on low days, I eat 4. Thanks so much for your kind words! 🥰
@AngieZawada5 ай бұрын
@@SteveSolvesMS I so appreciate your response! Thank you! Now I do have a few more questions, Please forgive me! Can I start with 4 each day? I follow the Best Bet Diet and my fat consumption is the same daily. I am hoping I don't need to switch to a higher fat diet on alternate days. But do I? I will if need be. Also, I'm 110 lbs and quite physically fit. Will this cause weight gain? I do work out daily but at a minimum lately with the spasticity I'm dealing with. Last, when might I start feeling results? Weeks? Months? Thank you again! Steve!! My sister and I agree that you radiate angelic light.
@SteveSolvesMS5 ай бұрын
So I'm looking up the Best Bet diet, and it's my diet. I will never say my diet has a marketable name simply because that's marketing. I don't need a cookbook simply because I eat the same foods in as close to raw form as possible. Bell peppers, green onions, and romaine lettuce don't require a cookbook! I'm not a fan of taking supplements, specifically Vitamin D. My UVB lamp does that, and it's more effective than popping a pill. But my thinking is drifting, so let me get back to your questions. I'm 173 lbs male, not a 110 lbs female so what I'm talking about is specific to me. I don't know about weight gain; I never weigh myself on a regular basis. I just went to my neurologist two weeks ago, where I got the 173 lb reading. That was in jeans and boots, so my weight was probably less. Before that time, my last weight recording was again at the neurologist on January 21st, I weighed 183. But more than the reading on the scale, I see myself in the mirror! I'm becoming more "cut," and the muscles in my abs are becoming more defined. I've thought long and hard about why my fat loss is accelerating. It started when I adopted a high-low calorie regimen. I did it to get my blood sugar as low as possible to allow Clemastine to affect the M1 Muscarinic Receptor and start triggering remyelination (which it has). I started looking at sugar and fat. In practice, I realized that Saturated Fat (which is what Coconut Butter is mainly) is not the villain. We've had it wrong for the past 50 years. Saturated fat is our friend. It has an evil label when it's combined with high sugar. We can't eliminate sugar entirely, but in my videos, I show that you should try to eliminate as much sugar as you can. I used to have a lot of spasticity as well. Now, I have none. It's an amazing feeling, and I'm so excited for you because you will reach the level I'm at. As for timing, I can tell you that the answer is undefined. I started in 2013, but I had to figure it all out on my own. No future version of myself guided me. On top of that, we need to give our brains time to heal. But I can promise that you will feel the recovery as it happens. MS is not a switch; one day, it's on, and the next, it's off. Please stick with me. I promise that however long it takes you personally, the end result will mean the world to you!

@@SteveSolvesMS HI Steve, Your substantial reply has had me on fire all day while I have tried to clean up my 5th grade classroom. Not distracted at all!! Lol So much to respond to, and I hate to say it, I have more questions! LOL I'm glad our diets are similar, and actually, I don't use their cookbook at all! I guess it's a help for some though when I scan the pdf, it is packed with a ton of great info. Just knowing the food I can and can't eat + the supplements etc is enough for me When I go on the MSHope website, the cookbook is really just a footnote. I see from the comments you are Ocrevus. I will be on it within about 2 weeks! That you're on it gives me reassurance. Amazing that you've become more 'cut'! Amazing that coconut oil's high saturated fat content is processed iin a different way and to help even become more lean. Clemastine. It doesn't seem to be available anywhere near me (Canada), including under it's other names. Was this prescribed to you by your neurologist? Can I ask mine about it? Or did you adopt it yourself? I see it's over the counter as an antihistamine. I've read a ton on it since reading your reply. Mixed reviews on it's impact on MS patients (both good and bad in extremes) But it is clear that it helps rebuild oligodendrocytes and it is clear that is has helped you, Should I pursue this or is the coconut butter enough? Should I be doing this low-high carb diet? As a teacher, to be honest, it's really not realistic. Although I'm about to start an 8 week summer holiday where it would be do-able, it just woh't happen come September. :(. Not a chance. My Amazon delivery of coconut butter arrived today!!! I started with 2 tbsps but I think taking it straight up wasn't the best idea!. LOL. I will work it out. In meantime, i will start with 4 tbsps tomorrow but can I stick with 4 for awhile? I should finally check out the UVB lamp. Thanks for the indirect reminder! Matt Embry (MSHope) does this as well and, including the diet, supplements, exercise etc, he's been symptom-free for almost 30 years! I'm excited to hear that you no longer have spasticity -or anything really! 2 years ago I trained myself (with help) to run down my street. Before that I couldn't run even a single step. It was an exhilarating moment, with friends lined up like it was a Marathon, LOL and I even had a banner to break through at the finish line'! Then I set a goal for 1km, which I was making great progress at until I got Covid in the Fall bringing some serious walking issues -either COVID or MS -neurologist says just MS but am not so sure. Either way. the spasticity suddenly appeared and not gone away yet. It's very tough. But I DREAM of getting back to where I was! I will never give up. All things are possible! Alright, I've said enough. But that you are so positive that I will reclaim it all by the coconut butter is overwhelming. To have the knowledge that I really CAN break through all of this..... there are no words. Thank you for your excitement for me. Thank you for your support. And thank you for being such a damn bright light on planet Earth! I am tremendously grateful.-and you figured it all out on your own!!! Bless you!

Hi Again Steve, you have given me new hope and inspiration after being in wheelchair with MS for years. I would be happy yo pay you for a quick chat and have 1 question regarding 1 meal per day. I have done well eating an apple a day around 12 or 1 but stopped a week ago and began eating around 4-5 only one meal no apple. Not feeling as well from late morning until eating again since started 1 meal daily. My question is would having an apple around 1 before main meal at 4-5 interfere with autophagy and re myelination? I appreciate your time so please advise on paid consult for 30 minutes if a possibility. Thanks Again

Steve!! I ordered the coconut butter. OMG it's so delicious. I see why you eat 8 tablespoons on your up days. I also bough a big tub of coconut oil and stopped the cow's butter for a while to see what happens. I have heard/read rumors about dairy and MS that aren't good. So here's to my N=1.

That’s FANTASTIC! There are a lot of people who dislike it. I’m glad you are one of my camp. Not only are you like me, its good for our MS as well! Yeah, the verdict is out on dairy and MS, but ever since I gave it up (going on years) I don’t miss it in the slightest
@Sonder00776 ай бұрын
@@SteveSolvesMS I gave up dairy a few years ago and was surprised how I didn't miss it after a while. Then I thought one Christmas I'll have a little cheese on Christmas Eve... It didn't taste very good. I thought why did I ever like this stuff. But time went on and I had a little here, a little there and I was back hooked on it. I hope with adding in coconut oil and coconut butter I can kick dairy to the curb for good.

@Sonder00776 ай бұрын
@@SteveSolvesMS What does it do to your sleep? I have never heard anyone else say that. For me, it messes with my emotional side, depression, and no motivation to do anything. I started eating a lot of dairy years ago because my Dr told me my calcium was low and to increase my dairy. I've been going downhill since.
@SteveSolvesMS6 ай бұрын
I don’t know exactly how it works, but I had 2 times I consumed it. The first time I had a glass of milk and I woke up in a cold sweat. The 2nd I had some cheese. Very upsetting dreams which I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn’t get back to sleep. Maybe a coincidence, but that never happens to me!
