The White Rim Trail doesn't disappoint. I've been all over the Western/SW US & Canada and my 2 trips there are still possibly my favorite. It's not technically difficult though you definitely need SUV clearance (most OEM will do) and 4WD for the silt pits on the West. I've gone counterclockwise both times which I likes because I could hug the wall when needed but my passengers each time were a bit unnerved to be hanging over the ledge. When we descended Murphys Hogback circa 2003, it was a bunch of rocks at the top without much soil. My wife couldn't take it and had to get out of the truck until I'd descended about 40-50'. It was mostly mountain bikes back in those days - I expect it has become much more crowded with time.

Agreed about White Rim. My favorite trip so far. Like you said, it's not super technical...but enough so to be fun. But oh man....the views are UNREAL

Did the White Rim this past February for the first time. Loved it! I'm laughing a little that you think you've finished the hard parts with getting up Murphy Hogback. When you head down the other side next morning (video time), that first part of the road was snow-covered in February!

Haha, yeah that descent was a fun one too! Not sure how thrilled we would have been doing that in the snow though 😬

I hope you're headed for the Alpine Loop and Telluride - both great destinations. Another fun and often overlooked area is N of Creede, CO. For a return to UT, hit the Escalante region and behind the San Rafael Swell - those are both great. Definitely get some slot Cyn exploring in while you are there. Funny, the Moab Brewery was the only brewery in town in the early '90s and there was maybe rental places. We rented a CJ-7 from a gas station on our first trip.

We did make it to Telluride on that trip. Didn't get the Alpine Loop in due to monsoons, landslides and unfavorable conditions. We did hit Imogene and Ophir Passes though! San Rafael Swell is on our list for next year. Excited about that. We'll have look into Escalante as well!

@@WheretoNextOverland Definitely look up the slot canyons, there are a bunch of small easy ones that are a blast to see. Also, Wire Pass is worth a look.

The White Rim trail has been on my list for several years. I even had reservations that I had to cancel. Absolutely awesome video! The big horn sheep were very cool ! We are starting to plan around a Moab trip for next year. So, hopefully we will get there. Again, loved the video! Great share!

If you make it to the Moab area, definitely make the White Rim a priority. It is spectacular in a way that is difficult to describe (and even more difficult to show on video). Also, we appeciate the kind words. Cheers!

You will love it. In all my travels over 30 years, my 2 times on the White Rim are possibly my favorite. Generally speaking it's really not technically difficult - I did it in a largely stock 2002 Pathfinder the 2nd time

Just found your channel and I’m enjoying the content so far. We’re also local to WA and take our 4Runner as much as we can. Thinking about upgrading my suspension but see your rig is quite capable without a lift perhaps? Is that the case or is their a mild lift? Thanks, maybe I’ll see you out there!

Welcome to the channel and glad you're enjoying it so far! Our LX still has the factory AHC suspension setup, and honestly for the kinds of roads / trails we've taken with it, the AHC does a great job. One of the nice things about AHC is the ability to get an additional 2'' of lift on demand .... which does come in handy at times. I will say that upgrading to 33'' AT tires made a big difference in capability (while adding a bit of extra ground clearance). Honestly, your 4Runner is probably more capable than the LX, especially if you have the rear locker and MTS! Also, I just saw (and subscribed to) your channel. Keep the content coming! We need more WA based adventure channels! Cheers!

Generally speaking you will be fine with 95+% of trails. We take a stock '18 4Runner all over the West with really no problem. My buddy has a 2-3" Dobinson lift on his '19 and he did come within 2" of rocks on Hole in the Rock by Liberty but I think a stock would have made it - just with a little rubbing underneath - perhaps. You can do ALL of the WABDR without problem

What time of year did you do this trip? My wife and I are emulating lots of it in late September.

We did the trip in early August, which I wouldn't necessarily recommend (HOT!). I suspect that it would be more pleasant in late September!

Thanks for the reply. Love your videos from this whole trip. We'll be doing Airport & Labryinth in Canyonlands, Rimrocker and some other stuff in Northern AZ & CO. Hyped.

@@talus9998 You'll have a blast! White Rim is beyond amazing and the Rimrocker is a lot of fun too. If you're not fully committed on campsites along White Rim....I'd highly recommend snagging a spot on Murphy Hogback. Probably the best views we saw were from the top.

I tried for that site. But NPS opens up the fall booking and some of it was booked in minutes. 80% easy of Sept was booked in 10 minutes.
