@@user-th3ng3lr6l as a Spanish speaker, I can confirm that all of the "gist" of what the characters say is repeated in English. All of the Spanish stuff is just extra fluff, all important details are in English. I like it, it is what it would actually be like to work with a multilingual, international academic team! You don't need to be a Spanish speaker to hear how Simon struggles with Spanish fluency, for example! I also LOVED the parts with characters speaking their own languages in their journal entries throughout the series! Even though I don't speak Russian or Icelandic or German, it just adds a layer of realness to the characters. And a great way to show off the voice acting chops of those actors! Even the details of wether or not it was written in a sidja group officially accepted language or not carried narrative weight, without needing listeners to actually understand those parts, cuz all the info is in English. Super cool, very enjoyable format for a nerd like me :)

I get that its multilingual but why is so much of this video not translated. Like if 99% of the series thus far has been primarily english, why would you not translate entire sections of the content. Its making it very hard to stick with and confusing when theres not enough english to even form context clues. Like im a big fan of the series so far and its aggravating that i have no idea whats going on. I hope this trend doesnt continue. I really like the story but im so confused rn. I have no idea who these people are and whats going on.

If the Spanish in this season is throwing you off, please know that what is in Spanish is not critical to the story. It's there so you can hear the character's emotions, fears, and frustrations the way they would have been in their mother tongue. But! You will miss nothing by not understanding. (Also, if you are interested in seeing a transcript with translations, we always have them available for free on our Patreon. Now, I think everybody is acustomed to the abbreviations B.C and AD, and maybe even the more recent B.C.E and CE, but I have never heard of BP before.

BP is used by archaeologist to refer to 'Before the Present' when the 'present' was adopted as 1950. This is used because much of archaeology takes place across countries and does not need to reflect or benefit from using to a Christian timeline.

One thing I don’t get it. It is how the guide doesn’t speak the local language. It doesn’t make any sense to me.

The guide is Brazilian, and thus speaks Portuguese. He was leading a group of non-Spanish speaking tourists (French, Portuguese, English) when the site was first encountered, so he was chosen to return to the site due to having knowledge of the site's location, not his aptitude for the local language.

First of all as a Brazillian myself i really love the fact there is a Brazilian character. I am a great fan of the show. (Considering back you guys on Patreon next month). But for me doesn’t make sense that he was hired to guide tourists on the first place. Although his knowledge about mountains and hiking might be high, if something happens during the hike he wouldn’t be able to speak with the local authorities and ask for help bc of his lack on the local language. I’m most probably wrong but it’s something that I notice while listening trough this season. Besides of that amazing work guys, I still can’t believe that you have this supreme quality content for free!

If something happened to the tourists, he wouldn't have been able to call for help, or communicate with the locals to secure lodgings, medical assistance, and so on.
