Drummer Keith Moon died this same year. Incredible drummer gone way too soon. Glad I got to see The Who twice before he passed away.

I really appreciate you watching the live version of this. You get the maximum energy felt. My Mother was at Woodstock when she was in her teens and saw them live. She passed her musical taste to me.

Hey Baba, if you look at Pete Townsend playing lead guitar, his right arm can go that high in the air as he cut the armpit of his shirt to be able to perform the only way he knows.

It is awesome you are going back to when rock music was so great. I saw The Who live in Los Angeles in the early 80's. Awesome show. Don't forget Yes, Rod Stewart and the Faces, The Rolling Stones, old Genesis with Peter Gabriel, and always more, more, more Led Zeppelin!!!

This was the first The Who song I ever heard, and I was hooked on them, I was about 13yo in the mid 90s, and heard it on a rock anthems compilation. Piano, drums, guitar and screaming lyrics... The essence of rock. "I don't need to fight, to prove I'm right,.I don't need to be forgiven!" Powerful stuff for a impressionable 13yo kid from small town northern England struggling to come to terms with being gay!

The opening and backing keyboard track was Pete playing a Lowry organ that he ran through an ARP synthesizer

When you ask "Is that a xylophone, a piano"? - it's a very early sequencer; a synthesizer. Probably an ARP. This is why we see Keith Moon w/ headphones on live stage. Moon was about as live a drummer as can be. But when playing with a pre=recorded sequencer track, the tempo will not vary. It's a machine dictating the tempo. So the band can not waver in tempo, the way most live bands will do.

Should have went for the original studio version. May I suggest the studio version of 'Behind Blue Eyes' by The Who from their album 'Who's Next.

Ahhh yes, The Who. As has been said earlier, please do Won't Get Fooled Again from this same concert, It's a contender for the greatest live rock performance ever. So many things happening in it. Pete is on another planet during it, but everyone is amazing.

Just knocking down classic song after classic song. This song is licensed all over the place, been in more things than you can track. It was the intro to one of the CSI shows. Since you are loving the crazy guitar solos, check out Steve Vai, "Tender Surrender" of his live DVD. It's like the speed of Van Halen and the musicianship of David Gilmour.
