Pete has always had the reputation of being hot tempered and unreasonable to work with,but it seems to me after all these years that he was the one who kept them all together until shortly after Keith passed away.He seems more than willing to adopt his playing here to give John the spot light and that is admirable.The result is very "weird" but unique,fantastic!
@luismarioguerrerosanchez47473 жыл бұрын
I believe, that as showcased in Behind Blue Eyes, Pete is this sensible genius who found emotional consolation for his childhood trauma in songwriting. Before I Can't Explain The Who was Roger's band, but as soon as the band manager, Kit Lambert, found that Pete was a talented songwriter he started to preassure him in coming with the band's new material. So in that regard there are two aspects to consider, one, that as soon as Pete found that John Entwistle could also write, he trusted him with filling the track lists when he felt artistically crushed (Cousin Kevin and Fiddle About being the best examples) and second, that he was the last memeber of the Who to make a solo album, because all of his focus was into writing songs for the band. He carried the band for two whole decades, that's why I'm ok with him keeping his best 80's for his solo albums while leaving the leftovers for the mediocre Face Dances and It's Hard albums.

The off-beat shuffle drums after the first chorus line on the studio version are genius. This could only have been written by one of the best of bass players in close collaboration with one of the superlative drummers. Hence, Moon's sarcastic protestations.
