Jazz Festival in Switzerland. Also with Nils Lofgren, Dave Edmunds and Timothy B. Schmit.
Great stuff, with Walsh and Lofgren doing an impersonation of Randy Bachman.

I was in the audience for the "Live at the Paramount" recordings in the Seattle Paramount theatre back in 1972. That was a fabulous concert. One of the opening songs was "Albert Flasher" with Cummings on the grand piano. His voice was so powerful and his piano playing on that song was just killer. Kurt winter's lead guitar was perfect on all those songs.

Timothy B. Schmidt's voice adds those sweet high parts that veteran vocalists often have to give up simply due to the ravages of time. He has always made any ensemble he is a part of exponentially better, without seeking the limelight for himself. To me, he comes across as one of those people who are simply about making music better.

@quicksite
@quicksite 2 жыл бұрын
And it would have been equally good here had there been a pro soundboard mixer. But the ass significantly dialed back the harmony mics while keeping Burton's too hot, thus that kind of baritone sound dominating which should have been the full spectrum harmonies. You hear them vaguely in the background, But do you hear Todd rundgren? No. You shouldn't judge the harmonies here based on the shitty soundboard mix, they were all dialed way too down.

Because otherwise Burton would never have recorded his cover of BTO's "you ain't seen nothing yet", which is nothing short of hysterical! As well as musically lush! It's a MUST HEAR because it only further cements Burton's genius musically and stylistically! m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/g2LFmp2sl9Gte6c I don't think Randy ever appreciated this but come on talk about playing against type!

Even living through the music of the 70s, 80s and 90s, my jaw still drops when I see an assembly of people like this on the same stage......never saw this concert before. People who didn't live through the 60s and 70s might not fully appreciate the sheer star-power standing side by side in this video.

The Guess Who, one of the most underrated rock and roll bands of all time. Why the hell are they not in the R&R HoF? Music like this is a long gone era. Thankfully I have over 500 records which I take great pains to preserve. I have burned most of them to CD's so they will most likely outlive me. When I leave this earth, someone is going to wind up with a rock and roll gold mine collection.

What's a CD? Just kidding, as I lived through it all -vinyl, 8 track , cassettes, lazer disc, walkman, CD, cloud, streaming .... but the reality is you could probably save a million songs on a memory stick these days -mind boggling really. If video killed the radio star, computer technology killed the live music star. Guitar has all but disappeared from popular music today as has drums and pretty much every other live instrument because all you need is a microphone and a computer. It's sad. THIS right here is an all-star supergroup rocking the house and so much of today's music lacks that energy that live musicians and simple song structures bring. I thank God I grew up in the 70's and got to experience this generation of musicians both as a young child (who started playing drums at age 3 and experience it from the stage!) and a half-century old man who has You Tube (the better side of technology) to now see all of these amazing live performances that I could never have seen back then. Burton Cummings is a rock vocal God IMO and that entire band was incredible. I never ever get tired of watching this performance, even if Zack Starkey did get just a little overanxious when he counted off the song LOL.
