The Who a connu plusieurs changements de composition durant son existence.

Reverse gated reverb... It became even bigger later on into the 80's... This was an early use. But other than that the drum recording is very straightforward... Kenny Jones is a Rock solid drummer and he knows how to tune his kit.
@gloverelaxis
@gloverelaxis Жыл бұрын
@@garthkolbeck8674 ohhhh it's a REVERSE sound! thanks, I was wondering how they get that gradual decay and then gradual attack (like a gap with the air being sucked out and then returning) before the full body of the signal returns - of course it's just reversed halfway through! I was thinking maybe it was an array of parallel reverbs tuned with with different predelays, or maybe some weird sidechain compression trick. it sounds so, so fucking good for this kind of aesthetic. i normally hate the '80s gated verbs on drums with a passion but when the song has enough space (like it does here) so that it doesn't become cluttered and mushy, and it's done tastefully, it can sound so good.

I remember seeing them in concert early on after this song came out. The hall was totally dark and for about 5 minutes the stacatto punches from the organ was all you heard. Then a light started pulsing out of the stage in perfect synchronicity with the organ. The whole thing went on about 10 minutes and I was absolutely hypnotized. It was really a climactic part when the singing started. Great night.

Marco Zuleta hah this happens to me sometimes. I can hear that now. it’s really cool when your mind adapts to it being one thing and when you stand corrected at some future point it doesn’t ruin it but makes it good in a new way.

We all learned to crawl before we walked. The WHO entered Woodstock era and opened the ears of everyone. This is their exclamation mark to bid fare well to their fans. Roger Daltrey took a backup and played the organ on this to the great, underrated Pete Townsend. Thank you 'The Who' for 60 years of music. Remember 'quadrophenia' and 'tommy'. The Lewis and Clark of rock and roll.

Such a solid Who tune, like most were. They entertained, but they entertained themselves by each letting go to different faccits of what their fans might dig- and in this song- Pete let loose licks along with Entwistle and created a masterpiece. Roger held his own with backup duties, and it worked, oh so well. The piano, bass and Pete killing it was and still is astounding. 🤙⚡🤘👌👍🖕✔️, KC
