"Let's get together before we get much older." There's a lot of truth to that line. I've seen it with my parents who are too old now to get together with family and friends because of health and mobility issues or all their family and friends from their generation are gone now. Don't keep putting it off. Life won't wait around for you.

Out here in the fields I fight for my meals I get my back into my living I don't need to fight To prove I'm right No, I don't need to be forgiven Don't cry Don't raise your eye It's only teenage wasteland Sally, take my hand Travel south crossland Put out the fire Don't look past my shoulder The exodus is here The happy ones are near Let's get together Before we get much older Teenage wasteland It's only teenage wasteland Teenage wasteland Teenage wasteland They're all wasted! I interpret the lyrics by Pete Townshend to really mean (he was using code because homosexuality wasn't really excepted in his early career) 'out here in the fields (streets or London), I fight for my meals (blow jobs on guys) I get back to my living (rentboy) I don't need to fight, to prove I'm right, I don't need to be forgiven...He's basically saying that he doesn't need to justify his lifestyle to anybody.

you're probably wondering how i got here. it all started with my taste of music
@Mangorine245 жыл бұрын
@Pedro DLR Instead of complaining about how the younger generation aquired their taste of music, maybe you should be happy that so many younger people can still enjoy music that their parents and the older generation liked. Everyone knows a song from somewhere, it doesnt matter if its from a movie, a video game or from an old LP you find in the basement, it doesnt make their taste somehow invalid. What matters is how they listen to a song and how they keep it famous...
@slingxslayer79485 жыл бұрын
Pedro DLR Calm down my friend! Don’t bash on the younger generation for how they got their taste in music. It’s wonderful that our world is so connected that we can listen to whatever music we want to. I’m part of the younger generation too and I found this song through my dad but so what if others find this song differently. Discovering music is always a positive thing my friend. You have a lot to learn coming from a 16 year old.

there's a difference between a passing interest in pop culture and actual interest in music. that's why music sucks today. it's not insulting the people who make it, it's insulting the idiots who fail to recognise talent and just want simplistic shit to prevent them from thinking. the majority of people hear something popular and flock to it. this isn't popular because of culture. it's popular because it's amazingly crafted. being put in a tv show just proves that music today isn't worth using.

oh, One Erection did this song? i had no idea. but then again, i dont pay attention to talentless dance ensembles whose music is computerized crap. madonna at least made it an art and changed with every release. everyone else, one direction, lady gaga, et al - all crap. its artistic, yes, but not MUSIC. the who wrote the lyrics...the music...and performed it. that takes ability and talent.
@13tete1310 жыл бұрын
Understand one thing, pop/rock is considered a music genre. And go watch some live videos of those artists you called crap. Even some pop artists have awesome voices in case you didn’t knew.
@avinashthamal10 жыл бұрын
Teresa Costa Voices aren't the issue, of course they've trained their voices well because they can hire expensive coaches. It's intense creativity, innovation in song structure and substance fused with lyrics that go hundred layers deep, the who had all of that. But the aforementioned One Direction, they could mostly dance and sing but their existence is mostly enhanced by really good marketing research. What really irritates me and most other here is the comparison. These two bands are on different ends of the spectrum. Either One Direction ripped off or not, people shouldn't be effected at all. It's something to just shrug off. People like One Direction could never tarnish the level of respect and gratitude The Who had earned through an unmatched artistic output. It's just unmatched. Could an elephant ever get hurt from an ant bite?
@jas2210 жыл бұрын
Thamal Liyanage great point. but it does irritate me that the youth of America are saturated with the pop tartists without any exposure to the music of real musicians, at least with the major media outlets. such is life. i stand by my original comment, though - there is a chasm of quality between someone who can sing well, and a band that creates, writes, and performs their music as an actual band. and theresa, your grammar in the final sentence is wrong, and that is predictable from a pop fan.
@13tete1310 жыл бұрын
jas22 boy, first of all, it's Teresa not Theresa. Second of all, the language I speak is portuguese, not english, so sorry if I made some writing mistakes. And I feel sorry for you, judging other people for their bad writing. AND, I like to listen to One Direction as well as I like to listen to The Who ;) respect others music taste, we don’t all have to listen the same, otherwise it would be really boring...

Gaga writes her lyrics, she plays piano and has a fantastic voice. You don't have to like her music, but respect the talent, she certainly has it. Not all Pop music is terrible.

Technically anything made in the 70's could rightly be in Stranger Things since it would have already been released

Nabi, esta canción como otras de la lista, más que animar, te activan. The Who eran pura energía. Pero hay que manejar esta con cuidado. Aunque no lo parezca las primeras veces, si la escuchas mucho puede llegar a cansar bastante.

So...you’re probably wondering how I ended up in this situation and why, y’know, the world is ending. Well, it all started in 2012, and it was my first day teaching at a new school. Hope’s Peak Academy. A school for the children that are the best at what they do. Once you graduate, you’re set for life. My name is Chisa Yukizome. And this, is how a teenage girl, her sister, an animator, & a depressed nurse brought despair to the people, and ended the world.

“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived..." ~Thoreau~ this song reminds me of this work of Henry David Thoreau.

Except I'm technically a millennial and I've never watched either of those shows and I can guarantee you I know more about The Who, classic rock, and music in general than you ever will. Old heads need to stop roping everyone into categories just because they're but hurt that someone 30 years younger than them is more gifted intellectually, and lives a waaaaay better life than they ever did so now they resort to bashing younger generations in comment feeds because it makes their geriatric washed up ego feel better.

The way you find great music that speaks to you doesn't matter at all, and finding it around the time it was first published does not make you better than people who found it later. Implying so is an arrogant, douchey thing to do. What is important is that people find music that speaks to them and that they can love, enjoy and appreciate with other people from all walks of life. Music connects and brings people together. You, however, are creating a divide by implying you are better than millenials, simply because you were alive when this song came out.
